Chapter 5
We rolled up our sleeves and got to work. Except for Sans, who just sat down and "made plans". Everyone was telling him to get up and help us, but he just refused.
"Come on Sans. This board is really heavy!" Papyrus was complaining in between gasps of air.
"Sorry Papy. But I'm wondering how we're going to decorate this place." He took a sip of Pepsi.
I was trying really hard to not let a board fall on me. "You can think about that while helping us. And where did you find that?"
"In your bag." Sans pointed to my backpack.
"That's hard to believe because I hate Pepsi. I only like coke products." I put the board on my back and folded my arms.
"Okay, I found it by your bag. You happy Sherlock Bones?" Both Papyrus and I groan in frustration.
"Sans, I will start making dark humor jokes if you continue to be lazy." I pushed a board up to a wall.
"I'd like to see you try." Sans folded his arms the way a child would.
"Easy enough." I leaned against the board. "How many babies dose it take to change a lightbulb?"
"30?" Sans asked in between sips.
"Definitely not 12, my basement's still dark." Sans' left eye flickered purple. "Where do you find a legless dog?" Sans shrugged his shoulders. "Right where you left it."
Sans finished his soda and hopped up. "I'M READY TO START WORKING!" Sans ran up to Papyrus and helped him with the board he was carrying.
"That's what I thought." I mumbled under my breath. I caught a glimpse of a disapproving Tori in the corner of my eye.
"Why do you know so many dark humor jokes my child?" Toriel asked.
"This place has a really bad influence on me." I looked around the surface.
"Ready to start working again?" I nodded and we got back to work. Soon the sun began to set when we weren't even done getting all of the extra boards out of the way. "Crap, what are we going to do?"
"I have 500 g from defeating Chara multiple times." Sans dug in his pockets and pulled out some gold.
"I'm not sure if there's any hotels that except gold." We walked around for a little while and found a motel. I started to walk towards the office and soon realized that Toriel, Sans, and Papyrus could get more questions then I would like. "Uhh, I think Sans should come in with me and you two should stay out here and try not to attract attention."
"Why do we have to stay outside while Sans gets to go in?"
"Papyrus, 1, do you two look like humans? 2, Sans doesn't call everyone "human". And 3, I thought I was your tour guide of the surface." Papyrus looked like he wanted to give up. "Okay, I'm glad that's over with." I turned to Sans. "Put your hands in your pockets and don't take them out.
Sans obeyed but questioned anyway. "How come?" I grabbed his hand, put it in his face, and compared it to mine. "I see now." His hand returned to his pocket. We walked into the motel office and tried to get the person's (I'm gonna call them a she-male) attention. But they were watching tv.
"Uhh, excuse me. But we need two rooms with two beds each." No response. Sans put his hand on my shoulder and I swiped it off.
"Sir, uh, ma'am. We need two rooms and we are in a hurry." Still no response.
I ducked down and pulled Sans along with me. "What's up with the she-male? Is it brain dead?" Sans shrugged his shoulders. "Wait, I know what to do!" We stood up to the counter. I prepared myself to do the worse impression of a teenager. "Ey broski, dudet, get me two rooms with two beds each. Can ya do that 4 meh?" I nearly chocked from my own impression.
"Yeah, yeah. Can and will do." The she-male gave us two keys. "But, it's gonna cost ya."
I continued using my crapy teenage impression. "Uh, yeah. How much?"
"20 cigarettes." The she-male plastered a smile on their face.
"Bro, dudet, dose it look like we're smoking bags of trash?"
"Uhh, you don't. But that dude looks like he could fill the part." Sans left eye started glowing and I started having a mental breakdown because I was on his right side. "What's going on with the smoking bag of trash?"
"Uhh, it's just...his...contacts! He wears contacts so the left one messes with his eye sometimes!" I spat out in the middle of my anxiety/mental breakdown.
"Bro, can ya just give us two rooms with two beds by each other? I'll pay double if you don't give is anymore trouble." Sans seemed surprisingly calm for how much I was freaking out.
"K, bros. Give me 250 for the rooms and be on your way." Sans could tell that I was still having a nervous breakdown so he grabbed my hand and rubbed it. I calmed down a little and gave the she-male 250g and grabbed the room keys.
Sans was still holding my hand when got back to Papyrus and Toriel. I held out the room keys. "Okay, we got the room keys. What else?"
"Sleeping arrangements!" Papyrus yelled out. "We need to decide the sleeping arrangements!"
"Min Pin and I can take one room while you two take the other." Sans gave one of the room keys to Toriel and turned to look for our room.
"Sans, 308 is that way." I pointed behind me.
"I knew that." Sans rubbed the back of his skull.
Omg, he looks so cute when he blushes and rubs his skull. MINDA! Focus. I grabbed Sans' hand and began to walk up the stairs when, "Sans and Minda, sitting in a tree,"
"K-I-S-S-I-N-G!" Papyrus gave Tori a really happy look. They started singing the next verse together. Sans blushed his head off along with me. I tightened my grip on Sans' hand and ran off to our room, ignoring the loud echoing concrete behind us. Out of breath, I unlocked the door and flopped on the bed. Sans locked the door behind him and layed down next to me. After a few minutes, I started to get really tired so I moved to the other bed. I didn't even want to get under the covers because there was a good chance of the sheets being scratchy. It wasn't even cold.
Right as soon as my head hit the pillow, I was out like a light. Instead of sweet dreams, I had a nightmare.
