Snakes! (Sphintus Carmen X Reader)
BEFORE YOU START READING: I just want to inform you guys that this part is a really oooooold one. I just found it in between the part I have written and I was surprised seeing it not posted. I do not know what I have written at that time, because I am afraid to see what are my mistakes. So I hope it's good and I also hope you enjoy. <3
------------------
Magnostadt, the magic Kingdom. The place you loved to study in, the place where mostly every friend you had were in.
But there was something which made you horrified every moment you walked near your class mate, Sphintus... His snake, Kukulcan.
You hated snakes. They were so....
Yuk!
Today was a normal school day, where your teacher decided to today you should make spells that included your fear.
Yeah... The day was normal when you woke up.
After this....
You felt like someone was throwing bricks at your face.
So you had to do a spell, which was going to summon a big golden cobra from Heliohapt.
You gulped, concentrated at the (favorite color) wand you held in your hand.
"I hope it works." You mumbled.
After a few seconds a small cobra appeared around your wand, making you scream, losing concentration towards the spell, the snake exploding in small stars, which colored you in gold.
Everyone laughed, making you hide between your knees, your black dress exposing a bit from your leg.
Sphintus was watching you, blushing a bit, when they called him.
It was his turn to present the spell which involved his own fear.
He focused, trying to ignore the eyes, which stared in his back.
He spoke with his calm voice, his staff glowing in a bright gold, making it unable to even see him.
After a few seconds, the light disappeared.
He held something shiny, looking like a....
And it disappeared.
You were unsure of what you saw, sighing in defeat.
"Okay... I think this is enough for today." The high magician said, dismissing everyone, slightly annoyed by the failure of his students.
~~~~
You were walking towards your room, when you felt a light tap on the shoulder.
"Oh, hi, Sphintus!" You smiled politely.
"Hey! I talked with the high magician about the task that we had today. He said that next month, we'll be doing the same thing. So... Since you fear my Kukulcan, maybe I can help you with overcoming the fear." He chuckled.
You looked at the boy carefully, as you were trying to tell whether he lied or not.
"Okay. Sure. But what about your fear, what was your fear? I didn't see what you made, because it disappeared really fast." You explained quickly.
He did not answer at first.
"I'll tell you when the right time comes." He walked back, towards his friends.
------
It was early in the morning. The birds were chirping happily, not many magicians could be seen as today was a free day for all.
You patiently waited for Sphintus to come. After a few minutes or so, he arrived, but something was different. He did not wear his golden headband, which made his white hair look messy (you kinda wished he could stay like that ,more often), and his triangular earrings, giving him a rather... interesting, beautiful look.
One thing you also noticed was that he did not held his staff. The only thing he brought was... his snake.
Oh boy, how you wished you could stop staring at the snakes eyes. When it moved it's eyes a bit, you screamed, mentally face-palming as you thought that they have heard you even in the Fanalis lands.
"Relax, (Y/N)!" Sphintus chuckled.
"I think he hates me." You poked the snake's head.
After a few seconds, Kukulcan wrapped himself around your body, tickling you with his tongue as he kissed you on the cheek.
Maybe it would be better if not a snake as kissing you. And maybe you wouldn't mind the snake... If it wasn't your fear.
Your body stiffened and your left eye started to tick, a expression unrecognisable for anyone plastered on your face.
"I-It's okay, (Y/N)! He likes you, that's all. He expresses his feelings towards you." The young magician tried to calm you down, as you were on the edge of fainting.
After a few more minutes, the owner of the golden snake managed to pull him away from your body, leaving you there like a tree.
"See, he doesn't bite!" He smiled optimistically.
"Yeah... Just... Perfect..." You said as your body began to slip towards the ground.
Awaiting for the impact that never came, you opened your tired eyes, meeting a pair of green ones.
"S-Sphintus!" You yelped as you felt your cheeks burning. Maybe the uncomfortable way he held you was the reason you suddenly restored enough energy to push yourself away.
He had held you by the waist, your lips almost brushing against his.
You sighed, fixing the robe you wore, glancing at the magician, whose cheeks were also burning.
"S-Sorry..." He mumbled, petting his snake between those crystal-like eyes.
You smiled warmly at him, brining your hand towards him. He looked puzzled, causing you to chuckle.
"Let's try again, what do you think?"
He smiled sheepishly, grabbing your hand as you both sat on the bench, trying again and again, until that month came.
......
......
It was finally the time you had to prove your class friends and the high magician that you were ready.
Ready to show that you have overcome the fear that had been crawling underneath your skin for centuries.
You focused all the energy you had in your wand, the bright light almost blinding you. Then, a beautiful snake appeared, wrapping itself around your hand, then over your neck. Although it was not a real snake, it tickled you with it's light tongue and touch.
It reminded you of Kukulcan so much.
You glanced towards your classmates, who stared in awe at the sight of the magic.
The high magician, who was behind you smiled approvingly, clapping his hands together.
Sphintus stood there, speechless. He had never expected to see you so confident and calm in the casting of the spell. He felt his cheeks rose, but he quickly wrapped Kukulcan around his head, like a mummy.
"Ummm, Mister Sphintus?" The high magician scratched his head as he stared at the strangely looking student.
"Mm?" The boy was unable to talk so whatever he said, no one could understand him.
"I believe it is your turn now. So please, remove the snake from your head and come in front of your class."
Sighing, Sphintus stood up from his desk, walking towards the front, where he had to show what fear he had. His hand brushed against yours, making both of you feel... strange?
You felt the warmth of his hand fading, which made you sad for some reason, your heart skipping a beat.
"Sphintus?" He didn't say anything.
He stood there, holding his staff with shaky hands, focusing his mind to the staff, which now glowed in bright gold, images of something appearing there.
The (e/c) eyes. That smile. That (h/c) hair.
Your eyes were wide open as you realised that those were images of you.
Every student watched with curiosity, keeping their opinion hidden. No one wanted to say anything at the moment.
The young magician looked red and pale at the same time, his body trembling.
'His fear is his own feelings...' You thought, blinking in a few times.
.....
.....
After the class was over, you saw Sphintus walking away, but you were able to catch up with him easily.
"Wait!"
"Leave me, (Y/N). You surely are embarrassed as the whole class now saw images of you." He mumbled, flustered.
"Actually, I am not." You smiled, cupping his cheeks in your hands. He looked at you somewhat puzzled, not believing what you are doing.
You on the other hand, brought your face closer to his, kissing him lightly on the lips.
Your heart always danced when you saw him coming towards you, all those days you spent together training to overcome your fear of the beautiful snake Kukulcan, all those days you were able to see how kind he could be... And yet again you felt sad that he didn't tell you what fear he had.
All that time, you had feelings towards him, even though you didn't want to admit it, because you are so stubborn to do so. Both you and Sphintus actually.
"Just shut it, Heliohapt boy." You smirked.
He stuck his tongue out, embracing your small body. There was still some distance between your bodies, so Kukulcan decided that the best way to fix that is him, wrapping around both of you, like a rope, keeping you together.
"Touché." You and Sphintus said in unison, staring at Kukulcan, who only shook his head.
