[73] -Last-

Sans is a MONSTER and not a HUMAN, so he doesn't follow HUMAN biology like a HUMAN skeleton. Same with Gaster and Papyrus.

Author note: Once again there is a note at the end of this chapter that explains some stuff as to why it's the last chapter etc.
----------------------------

His fate rests in your hands... That's what Andrew had told him. In other words, Gaster was completely free to have James killed if it came to that. A huge part of the skeleton was slightly ashamed to admit that he gladly wanted to tear the human apart despite him only probably being a stupid kid, who was only violent and aggressive due to the ignorant upbringing of his parents. But he couldn't ignore the fact that Andrew had managed to grow up into a decent young man, despite having the same parents as his evil brother. James attempted to murder his own son. If he tried anything like that again, it would not go unpunished. Especially when he had everyone on the look out now, and told Andrew to keep away from the headquarters. Gaster would personally get his hands upon James if the little punk tried anything else.

"Honey, are you okay?" A familiar voice asked behind him, going to lightly grip him by the shoulders as he leaned his chin on his right shoulder. He could practically feel the heat radiating off of his husband - it was Grillby - checking up on him, as he must have noticed he seemed fairly tense, as he was washing up at the sink. In fact... "You seem tense. You even managed to break something." Upon further inspection, Gaster had managed to break one of the plates into two separate pieces, when he had been trying to clean it with a sponge. The skeleton exhaled.

"Yes, I am fine, dear. Sorry, I was just thinking about what I told you about earlier." Gaster explained, as he of course had also warned his husband about James. Andrew's twin. The flame monster sadly smiled, as he began to lightly massage his shoulders.

"About the whole James thing? Don't worry, Gaster. With everyone being on their toes, if he tries anything else, he won't be very successful." Grillby reassured him. The flame monster sure wouldn't even let him past the bar if it so happened that he stumbled across their headquarters somehow.

"I just wonder what it is that he wants." Gaster grumbled in frustration. Was it just him being a pure sicko and targeting monsters because he could? Was it because he remembered Sans from when he and the others came to rescue him a long time ago? Was it because they took Andrew from him, and he was now part of their group, their one big family. Because that's what the Mafia felt like sometimes - a family.

"Maybe we'll find out. But it's no good stressing about it. It won't help you find it out any quicker." Grillby pointed out, and as much as the skeleton wanted to keep thinking about it, worrying about it, he knew the flame monster was correct. That no matter how much he speculated and hypothesised about it, it wouldn't change anything. The only person who knew what James was up to was James. Everything else was just speculation.

"I just worry about the safety of everyone, that is all." Gaster confessed, as he turned around to face Grillby, who stared back at him. It was a big responsibility, being the boss of the Mafia. But he gladly took on the position to give Asgore more time with his own family. To allow their family to have the happiness they truly deserved. And Gaster felt perfectly capable of juggling not only his scientific studies but also being the boss at the same time. But sometimes it did feel like a heavy weight was being pressed down upon you when you had to consider the safety of everyone. "I worry about you..." Gaster murmured, while Grillby smiled at him.

"That's sweet." He replied gently, going to touch one of his hands to the skeleton's cheekbone, as Gaster's pupils focused upon the two glowing eyes that rested behind Grillby's glasses. "But you know I can take care of myself. You're forgetting I used to be a big part of the Mafia too you know?" Grillby hummed. It wasn't like he was just a man who ran a bar, and his skills ended at being able to cook food and make drinks. He had a fair amount of skills in fighting techniques and self defense and using his magic. Chances are if James tried to confront him, it was asking for a death wish. Not that Grillby thought of himself as a naturally violent monster. He thought of himself as quite the contrary. But he'd protect himself and others if necessary.

"I know." Gaster nodded slowly. "I just... I could never lose you." The skeleton confessed. He didn't know what was making him so sentimental. He just knew he couldn't lose another person, not after losing Lucida. His whole world had felt like it had fallen apart when he had lost his wife, and the one person who had been there to help pick up the pieces was his best friend at the time. Grillby. The one man who had been there for him, constantly, even when Gaster had felt like he hadn't always been there for him. When he felt like there was a lot more he could have done. But Grillby just kept giving and giving and giving and never ever expected anything in return. Grillby was extremely selfless. Someone who he felt privileged and lucky to know. To love. To be married to. To be loved by. If he lost him...

If he lost him, then he wouldn't know what to do. Nothing would be able to get rid of that searing pain within his soul if he ever had this man torn from his life. He'd fall apart all over again, to the point he might just become an unrecognisable cold, hateful mess. He could have almost become that after the death of Lucida, had his friend not been there to comfort him when he needed someone to lean on. A shoulder to cry on. A face to vent to. Grillby gave him a whole new meaning to life, and if that was stolen by someone like James... He'd make sure his death was much, much, much more painful than what he had already previously pictured.

"I know. I would never want to lose you either." Grillby told him. "But that's why we're married, Gas. We go through everything together. So we'll never lose each other. Don't let the stress get to you, alright?" Grillby hummed. "Now, how about you head to bed? I'll take care of the rest of the washing." After all, if Grillby needed to do the washing up he made sure to wear gloves and to protect any of his flames from water, because it really hurt when his flames got put out. It was similar to when lava cooled down, and just became solid rock. That's what tended to happen to his body if flames got put out.

"You don't have to..." Gaster protested. But Grillby had already made his decision, and that's when Gaster sighed, and with a small kiss on the mouth, he went to leave the kitchen to head to their bedroom, thanking Grillby for his kindness, and for being there for him once again.

When he got to their room, the skeleton decided to check his phone. See if he had any messages. To his surprise he saw he had one from Sans, and for a second he became worried that he was sending a message that James had tried to attack again. But when he opened it, it was apparent it was just his son saying that him and Frisk were enjoying the rest of their honeymoon, despite James trying to ruin it, and that they hadn't actually seen him again since that day he tried to attack. Which may have either been a good or a bad thing. But he wasn't going to worry about that right now.

Whatever James would try, they would be ready for him.

Author note: Deciding to end this second book here, sorry to have a really long break and then give what is probably not a very satisfactory chapter. Been very busy with IRL stuff.
Hoping to add a third book to this series, which I have been pretty enthusiastic about writing since the beginning of this book, as I had already started thinking of ideas.
Due to lack of internet though it's hard to get parts out consistently which is pretty frustrating.
But I'll probably write a third book at some point, but there's a chance I might go onto a different book (still Frans related), between this one and a third book, just to have a little break from Mafiatale, but I haven't decided yet.
Hope I still have readers after my month long break and that I haven't been forgotten about. ^^;
