Sans is a MONSTER and not a HUMAN, so he doesn't follow HUMAN biology like a HUMAN skeleton. Same with Gaster and Papyrus.

----------------------------------

Despite the way Sans was feeling, and how some of the others were likely feeling too about Frisk, it was nice that sometimes things felt like they could be a little lighthearted for a bit, and the skeleton didn't have to think about the possibility of... Losing his future wife. She hadn't opened her eyes yet to spot Sans sitting at her bedside, but Gaster did mention how he said she should be waking up soon. The son of the scientist hoped for that to be true, because he missed Frisk so badly, and just wanted her to be okay.

Speaking of Gaster, his fiance: Grillby, wasn't actually behind the bar for once, as he had other things to do that involved his and Gaster's future wedding. Sans had actually found it somewhat amusing, to walk into one of the training rooms to let off some stress, only to see the flame monster in there with Chara, Asriel and even Toriel. When he walked in, he spotted the goat woman and the man made of flame seeming to try and slow dance with one another, and that's when Sans realised: he was probably seeking help to practise for when he would have to dance with Gaster. That was quite sweet.

"i didn't realise this became a dance hall." Sans joked from where he was standing, catching the attention of all the other occupants of the room, causing them to all glance towards the sound of his voice. He could already sense how people were worried about him, only because all he had ever been doing any time he came to the Mafia headquarters was that he just spent his time fussing over Frisk. He didn't feel like he had any other reason the be there other than that. Not that he didn't want to see anyone else, like his friends and family, it was just... Frisk was his priority right now. "what's goin' on in here?

"We're trying to help Grillby become better at dancing." Asriel said from where he was standing, causing Sans to raise his eyebrows. He had guessed as much, but truthfully it surprised the skeleton that Grillby apparently had no idea how to dance with another person. His mind thought back to that moment, a reaaally long time ago, at some party... Where Grillby was trying to get Gaster to dance with him. There was always the possibility the monster had too much to drink, but Sans had no idea.

"Also, how are you doing, Sans?" Toriel asked kindly towards the skeleton monster. The only reason she hadn't asked about Frisk's condition, was because like Sans, she was frequently checking on the human girl who had yet to wake up from her unconscious state. For Frisk, it had been difficult for her to just watch Sans lying in a bed, unresponsive. Now that they had been together for a quite long time, it might have been harder for Sans. But what did she know? When the goat woman asked that question, Sans did turn his gaze towards the floor for a second, as he frowned.

"...can we not make it about me? i'm fine. well... i'm not, but..." Sans trailed off, thinking about what he was going to say next. He looked back at the others who were all staring back at him, mainly Toriel. "i don't want this to turn into some thing where people keep constantly askin' how i am. because it doesn't make me feel any better..." He murmured, seeing Toriel slowly nod in understanding, while she also looked somewhat apologetic. Gaster said that she should probably wake up soon, so he had to hope that would be the case and everything would be just fine. Because he didn't really know what he would do if Frisk wasn't okay, if he lost her. His glum expression became a little more obvious from just that thought alone, as imagining his world without Frisk just... He didn't like to think about it.

He had Leo and Luna to look after, so even if... Something did happen to Frisk, he didn't like to think that he would do anything... Reckless. He cared about those two so damn much after all, as they were his and Frisk's children, and they meant the world to him. But just the thought of him breaking down so much without her really did send a chill up his spine. Thankfully, he was taken away from those depressing thoughts of his by the sound of another voice.

"Frisk is a strong girl. And her love for you is even stronger." Chara mentioned. "The only reason I'm so calm about what happened to Frisk, is because I believe in her. Genuinely. I trust for her to wake up, because she wouldn't want to leave her family behind. She wouldn't want to leave you, or the kids behind." She weakly smiled, while Sans avoided her eye, but he was obviously listening to what she was saying. "If you're panicking so much, you must not have genuine belief that she'll live."

"it's not that." Sans growled in frustration, but then his anger instantly faded away. Yeah... It was probably exactly that. Maybe he just didn't know if he believed in that whole... Just because your mind and heart wanted to survive, didn't mean it would. Just because you were strong willed, did not mean your body couldn't just go against you and shut down on you anyway. If the body cared about what the mind wanted, then there wouldn't be so many negative questions he could ask about why things happened to people. "...like i said... i don't want this to be about me and frisk so... can we just drop it?" He finished quietly.

Everyone looked at each other in silence for a minute, only to nod and listen to his wishes. Honestly though, Sans questioned what that shitbag that did this to Frisk was doing right now. He wondered if the guy had managed to get far away, or maybe he hadn't managed to run that far at all. Because with everyone probably knowing his face by now with it being plastered everywhere, it probably wouldn't be a good idea to just wonder around out in the open whenever he pleased. If the skeleton wasn't so concerned about keeping close to Frisk as much as possible, he probably would have gone and hunted his ass down by now. He would have made sure he felt so much pain before his death, he just knew he would.

Welp, it looked like training was a bust, which was slightly unfortunate with all this built up stress that he was feeling. Because training was one of those things that really did help at least somewhat when it came to his built up anger. That, and he used to smoke a lot for stress relief. Man, he truthfully couldn't remember the last time he had actually had a smoke. His life had become so preoccupied about other things that it was so easy to forget about smaller things like that. As Sans kept his gaze to the ground, still feeling miserable, he felt someone tap on his shoulder, causing him to stop and snap out of his trance. He turned around, only to spot that Toriel had followed after him as he had been leaving the training room.

"...what?" Sans asked, wondering what the goat woman had wanted. She looked like she had a question on her mind with that kind smile of hers, so he rose a brow at her expectantly, wondering what it was that she wanted to say.

"I was just thinking, I know how you have your hands full at the moment. Wanting to be here for Frisk, and needing to get back for the children." Toriel mentioned, while Sans quietly listened. "If you want, I can offer to babysit Leo and Luna for the rest of the evening, even tonight if you want." She offered, and when Sans looked like he was about to refuse, because he felt like it was too much of a generous offer, she continued. "They're my grandchildren, Sans. Looking after them for whatever time is never a burden to me. Especially when I've already had to look after little ones of my own." She smiled. "Remember, you don't have to be afraid of asking people to help you."

"i know... i just..." Sans started, not really sure of what to say. He just knew that while he might have been the most upset over Frisk's condition, he could instantly tell that everyone else was worried, yet for some reason they were willing to help him through this hard time. But then he should never forget that he wasn't by himself. He wasn't alone anymore. He knew that. So, he had to get more used to the help of others if they wanted to offer it. Surely, if they wanted to give it, then they didn't feel like it was a burden. "...fine. thanks." Sans weakly smiled, feeling grateful to Toriel who smiled in return.

It was funny, Sans thought to himself, as he turned to leave once again, to go sit at Frisk's bedside, back in the day before even meeting Frisk, him and Toriel weren't really always on the same wavelength. Matter of fact, he and her never really did get along, and if they did, those occasions were quite rare. Maybe he just couldn't take a liking towards her because she had in a way been his "other boss" alongside Asgore, and they would have a lot of disagreements on things. Now, it was nice to feel like it wasn't him against everyone else, and it actually felt like Toriel was a friend like anyone else who was willing to help.

"i'm here, frisk..." Sans quietly said, as he sat down at her bedside again, holding his hand on top of hers as he stared over her face with a sad smile. But it didn't take long for that smile to fade, and he was just back to being glum again. He just didn't like it: the silence. The fact that she didn't answer him, or smile at him to make it all feel better. She did look calm, but even then it just unnerved him how unresponsive she was. Gaster said she should wake up soon, and she would, right?

"so, please..." He started, his voice beginning to shake a little from the tears beginning to prick at his sockets.

"wake up...
