Chapter 1
The doctor walked in with a face like a brick. His movements were all sharp and with purpose, he analysed his cabin for a few seconds and looked up with a careless smile flashed for just a moment. Behind the gun-metal spectacles, his eyes were as grey as the washed-out bed sheets and the lines around his mouth gave no indication that he ever lost himself in laughter. Yet this was the man you both prayed for and never wanted to see in your life. This eminent surgeon had the ability to save but the task of often delivering the death prognosis and estimating the amount of time his patient had left was also his responsibility. His patients used to wonder if he had always been this grim or if his profession had made him this way. Perhaps as a boy, he had rolled in mud and thrown stones through windows, but somehow people doubted it.
"Doctor Abhigyan, an emergency has come, please come fast," before he could've relaxed his muscles on his comfy chair after a six-hour-long continuous surgery on an impossible-to-recover case, he was invited cordially for another surgery, underline the intended sarcasm.
"Let me change my gloves," he replied in a jiffy, promptly changing his pair of gloves, with a sigh leaving his mouth; it was a hectic day and it still continues to be, for he was the most famous surgeon of Gurgaon, having hectic schedules for all the five-days of a week.
The last eight years had been the busiest he thought he would ever be.
His duty as a surgeon was at one side but on the other side of the coin, no one was aware of the stoic expression behind those surgical masks that he carried.
But, he was once a lively, jubilant boy too whose eyes used to be as sparkling as morning due; no one knew the actual reason of the person he had moulded himself into, not even his family. It was a secret his shadow wasn't even aware of.
It was the grievous tragedy that changed his life, for immortality.

After another six hours of severe blood loss and non-stop movements of the surgical pieces of equipment, Abhigyan was eventually outside the ICU; perspiring through his surgical gown, scrubs, and the surgical mask. It was a case of a road accident and luckily, the patient's life was saved.
The police would have already arrived but some other surgeon would answer for them. Abhigyan was a man of few words and the police always demanded a storyteller, sorry but no sorry.
He was scrubbing his hands with the hand-wash in the sink inside his cabin when a female voice stopped his movements. He glanced at the intruder with a bored countenance. "Doctor Abhigyan".
"Sh*t," he cursed under his breath; deliberately, taking more time than he should for disinfecting his surgical hands.
"You did a fabulous job, I mean I had thought that we'd not be able to save the heavily wounded man, but I swear, you've got magic...." the female mechanically terminated her blabbering when his blank eyes finally met her excited ones.
The same blank eyes which had made her fall in love with him.
Her heart raced in the impeccably quiet chamber that she fretted he'd hear the sound of her lub-dub, lub-dub, lub-dub that her heart was invariably making.
"Can you please come to the point?" Abhigyan asked her straight without beating around the bush: the way she was doing right now.
She tried to calm down her horse-like heart and stammered, "I....I wanted to say....let's go...let's...". His glaring eyes stopped her midway, again.
Clenching his jaws, Abhigyan pronounced, "Can't you speak a single sentence without stammering a bit? I have not got the whole day to hear your stammering. Tell me fast, I have got some work to do".
"Let's go to dinner at a new place that has recently opened. It's very close to our..."
Her sentence was neglected for the third time today as Abhigyan left the cabin without giving her a battling eye. She stomped her foot and moved out of his cabin only to find him giving strict instructions to his Assistant.
"Make sure the woman is out of my cabin and lock the room after checking that all my belongings are locked properly. I am in a hurry, meet you on Monday," Abhigyan ordered his assistant, Sumit in a stern demeanour, completely avoiding the woman who was so much in love with him that she could tolerate even his insults and ignorance as long as he was near her.
"Stupid woman," he cursed under his breath and sprinted towards his car.
Lavanya, the woman who was in love with Abhigyan, asked the assistant in a solemn tone, her eyes fixed on the place where Abhigyan was standing a few moments ago, "Sumit, what do you think about me?".
"Sorry, mam? I didn't get you?" Sumit queried against her vague question, not getting what she meant.
"I mean, what do you think about my personality? About me? You're a boy too, tell me, how would you rate me on a scale of ten," she asked him straight, not noticing how uncomfortable Sumit became after this particular question was thrown at him.
He stuttered, "Mam, how can I...".
"Come on. I am asking you as a friend," Lavanya tried to coax him with her saccharine tone which she used for very few moments. Her assurance didn't relieve him, instead grew his anxiety trifold.
"Mam, you're the most gorgeous girl, I mean all the staff from junior to senior talk about your beauty and how attractive you are. And, your personality is incredibly charming too as you walk with so much confidence and boldness that many of the..."
He was left aphonic when she pulled him inside the cabin with his collar and shut the door behind them.
"Then why the fu*k your boss doesn't give me a single glance of appreciation? Hn? Tell me? You know him inside-out? Don't you? You must be knowing about his private life too? Why is he so distant from me? Lavanya Khanna whose father is the owner of this very hospital and countless other magnanimous hospitals! What is the thing which is not in me? Tell me? I am beautiful, rich, elegant, educated, bold. Then why?".
Lavanya was nearly choking Sumit. She was holding him by his collar and the poor soul wasn't able to do a thing as he knew what Lavanya was and how powerful she was. Yet, he tried and escaped out of her tight clutches.
He tried to take in as much O2 as possible, holding his neck.
This woman was the most dangerous woman he had ever met and he thanked his stars he was not her assistant, otherwise, he'd have died on the very first day of his job only.
"Mam....sir doesn't share anything about his personal life with me. He talks business only. Now, please leave the cabin, mam as sir would call me to confirm whether I have closed the cabin or not," Sumit didn't dare to look in her eyes and whispered the last sentence mustering all the courage he could gather.
"I am giving you one week's time to gather all the information about him; if he has any girlfriend or what. Otherwise, be ready to be kicked out of this hospital. Then, who would feed your pregnant wife and poor mother, aww?" Lavanya's cynical warning intensified the agony Sumit was trying so hard to forget. A fortnight ago he had already lost his ailing mother to cancer.
He just nodded his head and after she was gone, Sumit wiped off the salty drop of water that came off his eyes on its own.
After locking the drawers and the cabin, he was about to enter the locker room to change his attire when his boss' call stopped him in his tracks.
"Yes, sir. I have locked the door and the drawers too. No sir, she didn't say anything bad. Yes sir, okay sir. Yes sir. Have a happy weekend," Sumit answered monotonously to all the questions Abhigyan was asking from the other end.

"Alpha, this man was found trafficking girls to Nepal," a man as sturdy as some Z+ security chain rustled in a heavy voice who had kept his sniper near the temple of the aforementioned culprit whose face was hidden under a black cover.
A dominant, muscular man was sitting on a throne surrounded by at least thirty men who were clad in black suits having shades on their hollow eyes with snipers in their hands. The stalwart Alpha was oozing off so much power and roughness that no one could believe he was even a human.
"Where are those girls right now?" the voice of the Alpha sounded extremely mysterious and heavy, harmonising his fierce personality. His knuckles turned white as his hands were tightly gripping against the handle of the throne, desiring desperately to rip off the head from the body of this horrendous man who had no shame selling women.
"They are sent to an NGO, Alpha," the same man replied after taking off the mask from the culprit's head.
"What's your last wish?" the leader asked the man, sighing heavily.
"To fu*k your mother," the culprit either had a lot of guts to say that or he didn't value his life. Before a second could have passed, his manhood was chopped off his body and flitted down across the corner of the giant chamber, making a small pond of stinking blood around it.
The man kept wailing helplessly as his hands were tied behind his back. He couldn't even touch the part of his body where it was paining extremely ghastly. His loud cries filled the giant chamber with reverberations coming one after another.
"What were you saying? Come again?" the leader asked with a smug look on his beautifully chiselled face. All he got in reply was the wailing howls of the horrendous man who was dragging the last breaths of his dysfunctional life.
His wails, howls were soothing to the ears of the Alpha and his men. They were enjoying the way this man was squirming in pain.
The Alpha finally disembarked down the throne and walked towards the naked yet penis-less man at a leisurely pace, enjoying every bit of the affliction the horrendous man was grieving from. The man who had cut the culprit's manhood immediately handed the sword he was holding to his Alpha after bowing at him and moved at a distance from them.
"It's time to say goodbye, bas*ard."
The very next moment, an ugly-faced, whacked off head was found flying across the corner of the room, to the same place where his little penis was lolling lifelessly.
The Alpha stood there with a smirk on his fair face which was now reflecting off crimson red spots of blood, with his white linen shirt also soaked in red, harmonising the ferocious aura around him.
No doubt, his favourite colours were: Red & White. The only two colours his life revolved around, now and then.
The Alpha laughed humourlessly and snickered, "Every man who mistreats a woman deserves hell, and hell and heaven are here only, on this earth, not some mystical land. Theta, make sure his body is disposed off at a proper place. I don't want any poor street dog to die a painful death after scavenging on this bas*ard's body".
Three men sprinted towards the scene and started the business they had grasped and done for years.
The Alpha moved towards his private quarter to change his blood-soaked clothes into something clean when a phone call intercepted his strides.
'Ma'
His phone's screen flashed and a gleeful smile appeared on his face.
"Abhigyan. when are you coming home, son?" a soft voice came from the other end.
"Give me fifteen minutes, Ma. Was stuck in something very important," he replied after unbuttoning his reddened shirt.
"Ohh. Again some critical surgery? I hope that person comes out safe and sound."
Abhigyan could only grin at his sweet mother's prayers. 'You're praying for the wrong person, Ma, who is already dead'. He thought in his mind but kept mum.
"The life of a surgeon is so hectic, son. Not a holiday even on Sundays. Come soon, please," the concern of his mother soothed his heart but her words made him chuckle darkly.
Very dark!
He disconnected the call and saw his reflection in the mirror.
The mirror reflected back a half-naked, sturdy, and muscular man whose well-formed face had some blood spots, adding a very raw look of a ravening Mafia. His persona exuded immense power and brutality.
"What an irony, Alpha. On one hand, you're saving people's lives and on the other hand, with the same hands, you're taking their lives. White and Red! That's what my life is about, isn't it?" he chuckled darkly while rubbing his stubble which had grown over a period of a week, which too was smeared in rust red.
"Back to Abhigyan," he muttered to himself, once he was inside the safe vicinity of his car, and took out the silicone mask he applied every time he was in his dark world, feeling extremely relaxed now.
