Chapter 5 - No Time for Rest
Error's POV
I stared at myself in the mirror as I got ready for the morning. I had woken up with a hangover from last night. Hopefully mother was doing well.
Sighing to myself, I walked to the exit of my room. However, I stopped when I saw that Ink was sitting on the floor. He seemed to be struggling with staying awake. I kneeled down to make sure he was okay.
Me: Ink.
My bodyguard looked at me with a stare that was distant. It quickly went away when he saw it was me.
Ink: Good morning, sir.
Me: Are you doing alright? You look really tired.
Ink: Nope, I'm completely okay.
Ink tried to hide his tiredness behind a smile but I already knew it was there. I sighed before giving him a hand.
My bodyguard took it and pulled himself up. We stared at each other and I couldn't help but feel warm inside. My expression softened more.
Me: You should get more sleep, Ink.
Ink sighed before giving me a serious glare.
Ink: What matters is you because you are my priority. My health does not matter. If I have to, I will die for you.
I froze and was speechless. I knew Ink was just saying that because of his job but my soul latched onto those words. My cheeks heated up as his oath was tattooed inside of my mind.
Ink: I will sleep when I know that you are safe.
He stopped speaking and got close to me. Ink tied my neck tie before backing away again. I went to speak but stopped myself. Trying to reason with a loyal bodyguard was close to pointless.
Slightly shaking my head, I headed towards father's office. When I entered the room, I saw that it was empty. Papers were scattered on the desk. Some of the liquor bottles that were kept on the shelves were missing. A bottle of whiskey gone because of me.
Me: No one is here.
Ink: They're all at the hospital visiting your mother.
Me: I should visit her.
I turned around and walked out of the office.

The hospital was small but there was several members of the mafia present. This small building was owned by my family. Each doctor was hired by them as well. All of this was for safety reasons.
Ink: I believe she's in here, sir.
He led me into a room. I saw mother, father, and my brother. Father and Geno were standing around the bed that mother was in.
I instantly rushed to her while Ink stood at the doorway. My father greeted me before looking at his wife. He suddenly sighed angrily.
Father: I'm going to find the person who tired to kill you and make sure they die a painful death.
Geno agreed with father with a determined glare. My father and brother began to walk out of the room. Before they were gone, Geno looked at me. His expression softened as he patted my back.
Geno may act tough most of the time but on the inside, he was emotional and soft. I never held it against him as he's my sibling.
I sat next to mother by pulling a chair close to her bed.
Me: How are you feeling, mother?
Mother: I am doing well but I'm going to be here for a few days. How about you, Error?
Me: I am perfectly fine.
Mother noticed my bodyguard, who was standing near the closed door.
Mother: Ink, why don't you come over here?
Ink: It is not my business to be involved with personal matters. I simply don't want to intrude on your privacy. So I will politely decline your offer.
Ink softly said as he bowed. We made eye contact and I could tell that Ink declined for a reason. It was because I was rude to him the first day we met. When I refused to let Ink sit at the table because I was reacting differently.
I nodded to Ink, silently telling him that he was allowed to sit. Ink walked towards us and pulled a chair next to me. He and mother started having a conversation together.
My attention was glued to my bodyguard. His suit was black and was tailored to his form. A tie was hidden under his scarf, both were brown. I then began to wonder... what Ink would look like without a shirt.
I shook my head when I realized that I was undressing a man in my head.
'Why is Ink the only one that makes me think like this?'
Looking away, I hid my erection by crossing my legs. Biting my bottom lip, I tried to get my mind off of Ink. It was so easy to think about him but difficult to not.

I stood in father's office as I looked over papers. While father was at the hospital with mother, I was the temporary Don. Ink stayed next to me.
My attention was fully focused on the papers that rested on the desk in front of me. However, a loud thud caused me to redirect. Looking to my left, I saw Ink...
Motionless on the floor
