Date
The 7th of January, 2017, one of the greatest days of their lives. He could still hear the wedding bells and see her in that white gown when he thinks of it. Seven years later and he's still so deeply in love with her.
He straightened his posture as he opened the main door of their house with a bouquet of seven roses and her favorite chocolate in hand. He walked past his children on the couch oblivious to Noelle's glare.
He opened the door to the master's bedroom to see Kylie still sleeping, adorably if he may. Ruru sat beside her and tapped her shoulder, "Love, wake up. Wakey-wakey, sleepyhead."
She groaned and stretched and yawned and rubbed her eyes with her hands while Ruru did nothing but stare at this raw beauty in front of him. And his shirt on him just added extra cutie points.
"Flowers for you on this lovely morning. Though, they have no words, they share my feeling," he sang.
"Diba dapat evening 'yon?"
"Oo, pero umaga ngayon so, we gotta personalize the song," he winked.
"Baliw!"
"Happy anniversary, my love," he said and handed her the flowers and the chocolate.
"Aww, thank you! Happy anniversary, Love," she took the roses and put them close to her nose to smell them. Kylie smiled and gave Ruru a loving hug.
"Hug lang, walang kiss?" he raised an eyebrow.
"Bad breath pa ako eh. Sorry nalang," she joked.
"Mahal ko, seven years. Seven years na tayong kasal. Do you think I still care about your morning breath?"
She shook her head no but still refused to be kissed.
"I gave you your favorite flowers and your favorite chocolate. Don't you think your handsome husband deserves a kiss, mi amore?" he teased.
She covered her mouth with two hands which only made Ruru want to kiss her more.
He pulled away her hands gently and placed them at the top of her head. He held her hands in place with one hand while the other moved the flowers away, "I don't give a flying horse shit about your morning breath, mahal ko."
He stooped down and gave her a kiss on the mouth. He started moving his lips against hers and his tongue swiped on her lower lip asking for access which she willingly obliged to. Kylie opened her mouth and welcomed Ruru's hot tongue into her mouth. Tongue against tongue, they battled for dominance.
He pulled away seeking for air but wasn't quite through with her yet. He started planting feather-light kisses on her jawline and placed open-mouthed kisses on her neck making her moan.
"Wait, Babe. Teka lang," she pushed him gently.
He groaned, "Why?"
"Ang mga bata."
"Downstairs," he said shortly and got back to his neck kissing.
"Ezekiel, ano ba? Sinong nagbabantay?" she slapped his shoulder.
"Love, naman eh. Minsan na nga lang," he whined.
"Anong minsan? Ru, you ask for it every single night," she laughed.
"And you say no every single time too," he said getting up and pulling Kylie with him.
"Oy, not every time kaya," she disagrees. "Two nights ago I said yes."
"That was the first time in two weeks that you said yes though."
"You're lucky you still get some," she kidded.
He got on his knees and started crawling towards her making feline noises.
"Babe, what the hell are you doing?" she asked quite bewildered.
He said nothing and circled her legs with one arm. Without any warning whatsoever, he bit her butt.
"Ouch! Ru, what the-?!"
He got up and hugged her to his chest, "I'm sorry. Kagigil ka kase eh. Ikaw naman kase, I told you not to do so much squats. Tignan mo tuloy, nanggigil ako sa pwet mo."
"Wow, kasalanan ko pa," she rolled her eyes and reached out for her flowers.
"I love you," he whispers to her ear.
"Love you too," she answers.
"Saan na yung 'I'?"
She chuckled and turned around to face him, "I love you too, José Ezekiel Madrid."
"That's a good girl," he said and carried her as if she was as light as a feather.
"Love!"
-
"Where are you going?" Amir asked his parents with his head tilted.
"Kulit, it's Mama and Baba's wedding anniversary today," said Ruru, not really answering the boy's question.
"And?"
"We're going out," Kylie explained.
"Out? Only the two of you? For how long?" Noelle exclaimed.
"The whole day, I guess. Why?"
"Uhm, err, w-who's gonna look after us?"
"Auntie Queenie and Mikaila will be coming later to babysit you two. Don't worry," she reassured but the little girl still didn't look very happy about it.
Noelle eyed on the flowers that her baba gave to her mama and her brows furrowed with jealousy. Why didn't she get flowers?
Right on cue, the doorbell rang and in came Queenie and Mikaila.
"Hi, Ate," Kylie hugged her sister and let Mikaila make mano to her and Ruru.
"Thank you for babysitting, Ate," Ruru thanked.
"No biggie. Now, go and enjoy your day, love birds," she winked meaningfully at them.
-
"It's been a while since we got to eat this peacefully," Kylie states.
"I kinda miss the two already," he bashfully admits and shoots a little smile at his wife.
She shook her head, "What's that smile for?"
"I love you, that's all," he says lovingly and clasps her hand in between his, as if he was afraid to lose her.
"I love you too. Now, if you don't mind, I'll have my hand back so I can finish my lunch."
Silence filled the atmosphere for a while until Ruru decided to speak, "Love?"
"Yes?"
"Did I already tell you that you look gorgeous in that dress? Well, you're gorgeous in anything you wear and even naked, but-"
"Love!" she reprimands and slaps his hand.
"What? All I'm saying is that I find my wife so breathtakingly beautiful. That isn't wrong," he defended.
Kylie didn't know why or how her husband did it, but his simple statements like that sent butterflies raging in her tummy. Ruru wasn't completely oblivious to his wife's red cheeks and silence.
"Natameme ka diyan. My, oh my! It's a miracle. You've got nothing to say," he kidded and reached out to pinch her scarlet cheek.
"Stop that," she whined. "Will there ever be a day in my life when we're together but my cheeks don't get assaulted like that?"
"Nope, never ever," he says and stands up and crouches to squish her cheeks. "And that is because, your cheeks, my love, are the chubbiest, squshiest, cutest cheeks in the whole bloody universe."
He, then, pressed his pouted lips against one cheek and held the other one so she doesn't escape. It would have been a really sweet gesture if not for the grease that stuck to his lips from the steak he was eating.
"Ru! Ugggghhhh, you're so disgusting!" she exclaimed as he pulled away with a smug face and started wiping her cheek with a table napkin. "Don't do that again. The grease stench is hard to take off."
He laughed quietly watching her wipe her cheek. He did not know it was possible, but Kylie is still as cute as she was on the day they met up to now.
"I wanna kiss you again," he thought out loud.
"You wipe your lips first."
He shook his head no. Kylie sighed and made him come to her with her pointer finger. He smirked and quickly got to her side again.
"You know, I love you so much, but you're disgusting," Kylie said as she gently glided the linen cloth of the napkin on Ruru's lips.
"I love how your face says 'I think my husband is the hottest guy ever' when you're disgusted though," he smirked sarcastically.
She pushed him slightly, "Ang vain mo!"
"But you're completely and utterly in love with me."
"Yeah, I am completely and utterly in love with you," she admits and pulls him by the collar to kiss him right on the lips.
He pulled away and rubbed his nose on hers, "That was nice."
"I know," she smiled.
Ruru kissed the tip of her nose, but he wasn't quiet satisfied. He bit down on her nose.
"Ezekiel!"
He kissed it again, "I'm sorry, my love."
"No, you're not," she sighed as Ruru got back to his seat.
"Mi amore, eat faster. We have more things to do, come on."
"Okay, I'm done! Gee!" she laughed.
Ruru smiled and waved his hand up in the air signaling the waiter that he was ready to pay.
-
"Where are we going?" Kylie asked impatiently glancing out the window.
"It's a surprise," he winked.
"Tell me!" she persisted.
"No, it's a surprise nga. Ang kulit mo naman eh."
"Tell me!" she whined as she shook his arm.
"Kylie, mababangga tayo," he laughed.
"You tell me nga kase where we're going," she begs with that signature pout.
"You'll know when we get there, my love."
She sighed in defeat, "Fine."
As they approached another turn, Ruru pulled the car over and put a blindfold over Kylie's eyes. He planted a small kiss on her forehead as he did it, "We're almost there."
Kylie visibly squiggled in her seat causing the thin strap of her little black dress to fall. Ruru was just about to start the car when he saw that. He smiled to himself and leaned over to his wife and bit the strap to put it back on its rightful place and then he left a lingering kiss on her shoulder and collarbone.
"Love, are we going or are you just gonna keep taking advantage of the fact that I'm blindfolded," Kylie kidded.
"But why you gotta be so gorgeous though? Huh? Answer that, mi amore," he whispered seductively as he continued trailing kisses near her chest.
"Stop! Seryoso, Love, do you want to be in the news tomorrow for doing it in a car parked in a dark alley?"
He sighed as he pulled away, "Fine, but you owe me one tonight, 'kay?"
"You're so naughty!" she exclaimed as she reached out for his side and pinched him.
-
As soon as Ruru had the car parked, he stepped out to call for the assistants he got for this particular event. Kylie sat there waiting for what she thought was her husband. She heard the door open as a hand guided her out of the car.
"Love?"
"Nope, not quiet," a female voice says.
"Holy bageezus! Zhen, is this you?"
"Yes, boo. It's me. Now, more walking less talking because your husband is an impatient human being," she laughed.
-
The orange lighting of the place she was in took a while for Kylie's eyes to adjust to, but when it did she gasped. She was on top of Bayleaf Hotel and the sun was just about to set, the place was filled with rose petals and balloons with little pictures on them.
She walked the path that the petals lead her and there was a balloon on every stop that she had to make. She ran her fingers down the curly string of the balloon and she saw that the picture was of her in her Amihan costume. She flipped it over and it had a little message on it:
My queen in shining armour. Beautiful then, beautiful now, beautiful forevermore.
She smiled and walked to the next balloon which had a picture of the two of them as lovers cuddling on the couch of her old townhouse. That was the day they became official. Again, she flipped it and found a message:
The start of our journey.
P.S. you looked stunning in your PJ's.
She laughed and went to the next balloon. It was the picture of the day he proposed to her- Ruru was kissing Kylie while she held up her left hand with the ring on it. The message on the back:
You said yes and my heart leaped with joy. I kissed you there because I was afraid that if I show them your smile on that day, they would take my lovely fiance away from me.
The next picture was that of him kissing her flat tummy encasing Amir.
Our little Jellybean. You made me the happiest man on earth that day, my love.
Then, it was a picture of their wedding day.
The you and me turned to we, my beautiful bride in white.
The next one was a picture of her, Ruru, and Amir the day he was born.
My superwoman, my love, my everything. Never did I ever think I would witness such strength in my life.
The next pictures were each and everyone of their milestones. Kylie looked at all of them and floods of memories came through her mind and she started crying. She reached the end of the path of rose petals and found her husband sitting on a stool with a guitar on his lap.
"This song is dedicated to the love of my life, my Kylie Nicole," he winked.
He started strumming his guitar in a mellow way and background music from God knows where started to play. Ruru started singing.
You and I will travel far together
We'll pursue our little star together
We'll be happy as we are together
We may never get to heaven
But it's heaven, at least to try
You and I are going on together
'Til the time we have is gone together
Watch the evening drawing on together
Growing older, growing closer
Making memories that light the sky
That only time can make
That only love can make
That only we can make
You and I
He didn't even get to finish the song because Kylie's tears were streaming down her cheeks and he just had to wipe those away. Ruru put down his guitar and walked to Kylie with open arms and she ran to him and hugged him burrowing her face in his chest.
"Happy anniversary, my love," he whispers and hugged her tighter.
She raised her head to face him and he leaned down to kiss her lips, "Happy anniversary."
He cupped her face in his hands and wiped the remaining tears with his thumbs, "Sshh, don't cry na. I don't like seeing my baby crying."
"They're happy tears, don't worry," she smiles. "Thank you, mi amore."
"For what?"
"For the seven years of marriage, for the two bulilits at home, for this surprise, for loving me, for everything."
"No, thank you for everything. I couldn't have given you children without you," he joked.
She tiptoed and gave him a small kiss on the nose, "Do we have this whole place to ourselves?"
"Yup, now let's go have some wine and cheese, yeah?"
-
Stumbling through the front door, Ruru started kissing random parts of Kylie's face, obviously having a little too much wine.
"You still owe me some tonight," he whispered.
"I know, but can you wait until we actually get into the room?"
"Nooo!" he whined.
"Ru! Ru, stop. RU!" she exclaimed and pushed her husband away immediately when she saw Noelle sitting on the couch with a cup of milk.
Ruru turned his head towards the direction his wife was looking at and saw the same thing. He stood up straight suddenly sobering up, "Baby, why are you still up?"
"Why are you home so late?" she asked sounding more of a mom than a little girl as she made mano to her parents.
"I'm sorry, Sweetie. We just-we, uhm, we didn't mind the time," Kylie stuttered.
Queenie came from the kitchen looking very tired, "Oh, hey. You guys are here."
"Yeah, and it's really late, Auntie," Noelle tattled.
"Exactly. So, you, little girl, should be in bed na. Come on, I'll tuck you in," Ruru said as he was going to carry her but the little girl squiggled away and raised her hand to her mother instead.
"I don't like! Mama lang will tuck me in. Don't come."
"You want me to sing to you nalang?" he asked shocked at how she was acting.
"No! Mama lang," she angrily responded, bewildering her father further.
"Okay?"
"Say good night na to Baba, Anak. Then, I'll tuck you in na," Kylie instructs.
"Noooo!" she whines.
"She's sleepy na," Kylie smiled apologetically at Ruru.
"Good night, Kikay," Ruru said and sent an air kiss which made the young girl made a face to.
When she heard the silent bang of Noelle's door closing, Queenie looked at Ruru. "It's the flowers," she said.
"Huh?"
"Nagtatampo siya sayo kase you gave Kylie flowers and she didn't get any," Queenie explained further.
Ruru dragged his palm across his face, "Oh my, oo nga pala."
"I mean, the poor thing was out of herself the whole day. She didn't even join Mikaila's tea party and she loves that game."
"What poor thing?" Kylie asks approaching the two.
"Nagtatampo si Noelle sakin because I forgot to give her flowers," Ruru said sounding so devastated.
Kylie laughed at her husband's distress and came nearer to pinch both his cheeks, "Poor boy!"
"Uhm, okay, I'm gonna go sleep now. I'll leave you two alone," Queenie smiled awkwardly and ran towards the guest room.
As soon as Queenie was out of earshot, the two sat on the couch and Kylie snuggled up to Ruru and he wrapped his arms around her.
Kylie nuzzled his neck and left a small kiss, "So, tuloy pa ba tayo or what?"
"Hell yeah, tuloy pa tayo!" he said excitedly and carried her bridal style to their room.
-
The next morning, Ruru had to leave extra early again to get flowers for Noelle, leaving his sleeping wife with a small note on the bedside table. Though he was exhausted from last night's 'activities' he still managed to drive to the flower shop to buy another bouquet. He purchased a nice bundle of stargazers, Noelle's favorite flower, and drove back home before she woke up.
He opened her door and saw her quickly shift to face away from his direction. He sat down on the bed, "Baby, good morning. Your favorite flowers oh."
"No! You go away, Baba," she snapped.
"Kikay, I bought these for you. Look oh so nice and they smell so good."
"I don't like you. You forgot about me."
"Sweetheart, Noelle, I would never forget about you. You're my princess, diba?" he coos.
"Go away."
"Can I sing to you?" he said caressing the wavy hair that cascaded on her back.
"No, I don't like your voice."
"Well, I'm gonna sing for my princess anyway," he kissed her head. He cleared his throat and channeled his inner crooner, "I'll take care of you
Don't be sad, don't be blue
'Cause I'll never break your heart in two
'Cause I'll take care of you
I'll kiss your tears away
I'll end your lonely days
All that I'm really trying to say
Is I'll take care of you
I want you to know
That I love you so
I'm proud to tell the world you're mine
I've said it before,
I'll say it once more,
You'll be in my heart 'till the end of time-"
"Really?" Noelle turned her head around staring at her father intently with those chocolate, chinita orbs. "You're proud to tell the world I'm yours and I'll be in your heart forever?"
"Of course, Baby. I love you so, so much- I loved you before, today, and forever," he kissed her forehead. "Now, no more tampo na ha?"
"Okay. I love you, Baba. Thank you for the flowers," she smiled that adorable dimpled smile and gave Ruru a sweet kiss on the cheek.
"You're welcome, Princess."
"Baba?"
"Hmm?"
"Will you also take me out on a date?" she blinked.
"Yes, Sweetie, I will."
"Baba?"
"Kikay?"
"Can you tell me what happened to Princess Miracle?" she asked as she snuggled into Ruru and carried the bouquet of stargazers to her chest.
"Okay," he smiled. "I'll tell you all the stories in the world even when the time comes that you don't want to listen to them anymore."
