Chapter 2
AN// HELLO, I just wanted to say that there will be a "Mr. Wu" but it is NOT our crease, I didn't realize that that was Kris's name buuuut I don't want to fix it lol.
"Here you are." I say as cheerfully as possible, seeing that Mr. Vin been eyeballing me since I walked into the ballroom.
I have orders to not walk through the middle of the ballroom but to walk along the edge of the carpet closest to the wall so I'm out of the way unless I'm taking someone to there seat.
The room is now almost all packed. There's a orchestra playing nice music in the back ground while we help people find there seats.
"Luhan, can you come here." I hear Baekhyun call to me by the front door.
"Can you show those guys who're about to come in to their seat?" He says as the door opens.
"Uh, sure?" I wonder why he wants me to do it.
Two guys walk in, looking around at the decorations. One looks taller than me and the other seems to be shorter.
The taller on has a serious look on his face as he waits for his friend to finish looking around at everything. His hair is short. blonde, and gelled perfectly in a wave, keeping it out of his face, it looks nice.
His brown eyes lock with mine and I quickly look away as I hurry over to them to ask for there names.
"Uh, welcome, can I have your names?" I ask them.
"Sehun and Suho." The blonde man tells me.
I ask them to follow me before leaving to the ballroom to seat them.
They talk quietly behind me as I take them to their seats. I swear that I hear them say something about me, making me slightly self conscious. Is my hair messed up? It probably is, I didn't have time to fix it before I came.
"We just got here, we will before we leave." I hear the taller one who I believe is Sehun say to Suho. I wonder what they are going to do?
That's none of my business anyways. I think as I show them their seats and hurry back to the main room.
I get to the main room and it hits me. I remember hearing Baekhyun talking about someone named Sehun a while ago, and he wasn't very happy when he said it either.
I quickly get back to work and begin taking appetizers out as Mr. Vin begins to talk in front of the big group of people. I don't pay any attention to him seeing it has nothing to do with me while I aimlessly walk around giving people appetizers off my tray.
"Luhan!" I hear in my ear piece as soon as Mr. Vin leave the microphone.
"Yes?" I say knowing it's my boss.
"I need you to work one of the bars right now, I know you're good with making drinks so it won't be hard." He tells me.
"Uh, sir, I'm underag-"
"I know, it won't matter, I know you worked at a bar when you were younger. Just do as I say." He sighs.
"Yes, sir." I say walking back to the kitchen to put the left over appetizers back and wash my hands.
I hurry to the bar and quickly put the black apron around my waist before taking people's orders.
When the food is brought out everyone leaves to their seats and I finally get a few minutes of a break.
Being able to stand behind the bar for a few minutes is better than nothing.
I look around the room unaware that I was actually looking for someone subconsciously. I find the guy I had been looking for sitting at his table, looking back at me. I lock eyes with him and quickly look away, hoping he didn't see me looking around for him.
I quickly find something to do making it seem like I had actually been doing my job but can still feel him staring at me. I want to look back but I can feel my face turning a deep red.
"Luhan, I can take over if you'd like." Chen says, walking up to the bar. I nod as I take off the apron, give it to him, and thank him before leaving to the kitchen.
Throughout the night I continue to refill people's glasses, take dirty plates, and almost fall asleep doing so. I keep getting the feeling like that guy's been watching me for longer than just when I accidentally locked eyes with him.
People finally begin to leave to and we start to clean up the room, taking dishes and cups out to the kitchen.
Out of nowhere a hand comes out and grabs me, pulling me off to the side.
"What are yo-"
"Do you like your job here?" One of those guys immediately asks me making me bush my eyebrows together.
"Uh, I guess? Why did you-"
"I can tell you don't like it. You look tired too, here." He says putting a small card in the front pocket of my vest. "Come by here after you get off work tomorrow if you want a better job. Don't tell anyone about this." He says quickly.
"Bring that card with you too. You won't regret it." He says with a small smile.
His tall friend comes over to us and nods for the other to leave before the two of them turn and start walking away to the door.
The blonde man turns his head back to look at me as he opens the front door and winks at me with a small smirk before turning leaving.
"Luhan!" My boss yells in my earpieces, "Get back to work! You aren't done until this place is spotless!"
"Yes, sir." I sigh before doing as he says.
We take the vases off the tables then grab the table cloths off to take to the laundry room. We take the tables down to the basement and stack them down there before doing the same with the chairs. We vacuum the carpet and mop the wood floor before my body wants to collapse.
It's almost two in the morning by the time we're done and luckily Baekyhun offers to drive me back to my hotel.
"You're a little young to be living alone don't you think? And in such a bad hotel." He nags at me.
He's kind of acts like an older brother to me sometimes. It's nice but annoying at the same time.
"I'm nineteen, and it's all I can afford right now. I'm planning on moving into an actual apartment complex once I get the money." I tell him.
"Why are you living alone here?"
"Uh, I moved out a while ago, I got some money and came here. I lived here first actually but... Just, a lot of stuff happened and I left."
"Oh, well, if you need anything call me." He tells me with a smile as he pulls up in front of the hotel.
"Thanks, Baekhyun. I'll see you tomorrow." I say as I get out.
...
"Luhan!"
"Luhan!"
"Luhan!"
Is what my day consisted of.
Mr. Vin seemed nice when I applied for this job and turns out that he's an asshole. He has favorites and treats the rest of us like slaves.
Last night when I got home I read the card but all it had on it was an address of a hotel I think and where to go. When I first saw it I said to myself I won't leave this job even if the other one looks better. I have a good, solid, job and that what I need right now.
Now that I see the true side of him, the other job sounds better and better to me.
I should at least check it out, you know? See what it's like and stuff. Maybe it would be better than this. In all honesty, this reminds me of a bad time in my life, I don't think I would even want to work here under these conditions.
After work I didn't hesitate to leave as soon as I could, not wanting to stay one minute later than I had to. I call a cab and have them pick me up and take me to the hotel address that was on the card.
It takes about ten minutes to get there and that worries me slightly. If I do end up taking this job I'll either have to find a place closer to here or buy a car and I can't afford either of those options right now.
"Thanks." I tell the driver as I pay him.
My door is opened for me by a cheerful guy that seemed to be around my age before he welcomes me to the hotel, I'm liking this place already.
The hotel is enormous, the entrance is shaded by a cream cement type ceiling with tall pillars holding it up. There's valet parking going under the side of the road into an underground parking lot and I'll admit that it looks really nice.
The workers that are working outside in the valet are wearing white shirts with red vests over them and black pants.
I think it looks good, it matches the hotel in a way.
The front doors are made of glass with a gold colored framing around it and a spinning door with regular doors next to it.
When I step inside I find myself looking around and admiring the place.
The floor is made of a beautiful marble with designs on it and the walls are painted a cream color that makes it look really classy.
The front desk where you check in is made of the same marble as the floor and is stretched wide with workers standing behind it checking people in. They're dressed as nicely as the valet but their uniform is slightly different.
It looks like there is a bakery inside as well making the area around it smell delicious. My stomach growls softly making my mouth water as I force myself to continue walking past it.
I can get food later. I'm here on a mission and that's to find a better job.
I pull the card that that man, Seho I think, gave me and as soon as I take it out someone is taking me to the owners office.
"Welcome, welcome, I'm Mr. Wu. It's great to have you.." The owner says holding his hand out to me as soon as I walk in.
"Lu Han." I say as I shake his hand.
"So you're interested in working here I see?" He says as he offers me a seat while he sits down behind his desks.
"Yeah, I was just checking the place out." I shrug casually.
"Do you not like your job with Mr. Vin?"
"No! I mean yes? No, I mean I like it, just, I'm looking to find something else." Well that didn't come out well.
"It's ok," he chuckles, "a lot of his workers are unhappy there, he isn't very nice I have come to find out." He says with a smile on his face that tells me he doesn't like Mr. Vin.
"Anyways, what are you looking into doing here if I were to give you a job?" He says scooting his chair under the desk and folding his hands on the desk.
"Um, anything really. Nothing in particular." Why didn't I think about these questions earlier so I could have a decent answer.
"Well, I live to make my workers as happy as they can be. Doing so, we do things differently here. Every month people get to choose what they want to do for the next month. From cooking to cleaning to working in the valet. There are many things to do in this hotel and doing the same thing every day for a long time can get boring so we change it up. You can make from $30,000 to $99,000 dollars roughly a year depending on where you work during the year."
I notice my mouth is slightly open and quickly shut it and continue to listen. I think I will be applying for a job here, it sounds like it would be a great place to work.
"All you have to do is fill out a few papers with some questions about yourself, nothing big. There are not secret contracts or anything hidden in there so don't worry." He smiles as he hands me about three pieces of paper with questions printed on it.
"Okay, thanks!" I smile.
"I hope to see you here again soon, Lu Han." He says shaking my once more.
