( CHAPTER TWENTY ONE - DARK DAYS )
CHAPTER TWENTY ONE; DARK DAYS
Logan returned to the backstage area after her segment with Seth and Dean, and she didn't dare look back when Seth had called her name after he returned from behind the curtain. She had heard Dean tell him to back off and leave it alone, or something along those lines when she had turned the corner.
Logan thought she made it pretty clear that she wanted nothing to do with Seth, from the amount less times she had ignored him, not looking in his direction and only briefly speaking to him when it was needed at work.
Now, two matches later, Logan was standing in a hallway jumping from equipment boxes to get ready for her first match as the Champion, and who better to compete against than no other than Mickie James. Logan looked up to the nine time champion in her younger years and now to compete with her was a complete honor.. she could only hope that she would be as good as someone like Mickie.
"Jane," A deep voice had called her away from her thoughts, and Logan looked to her right to see the Lunatic Fringe walking towards her. Logan's eyes immediately went behind him, expecting for Seth Rollins to be following behind but to her relief, he wasn't. "Rollins isn't here, It's just me." He had assured her when her eyebrows rose.
"What's up, Dean?" Logan questioned him breathlessly as she performed another leap frog, landing on the equipment box and then landing back on the ground.
Dean sat down on one of the equipment boxes beside her, "He's really bummed out, you know?" He told her quietly, and Logan wanted to roll her eyes at him.
"He shouldn't of kissed me, Jon." Logan told him sternly while sitting down beside her friend, and leaning her head into his shoulder. "It was wrong of him and now I lost Finn because of him."
Dean began nodding away from her statement, "I know and I talked to him about that, but you can't blame it all on Seth." He told her, which made Logan lift her head. "It's his-"
"It's not just his fault, and you have to own up to that. You're just as much to blame here as he is." Dean shook his head, staring over at her with a straight face. He knew that Logan would blame it all on Seth for what happened, but she needed to understand that, yes, him kissing her in the first place was wrong on his part but she had kissed him back. It was an effort brought on both parts.
Logan didn't want to hear his words, not because what he was saying was wrong, but because it was true and she knew it. She wanted to be right in this situation, blame it all on Seth because it was easier that way. She lifted herself from the equipment box, wanting to leave but Dean had caught hold of her wrist.
"Don't walk away, Lo." Dean warned her which made Logan sigh and turn back around to see the stern expression still on his face, his cold eyes burning into hers. "You need to own up to that, and you need to talk to Finn."
"He doesn't want to talk to me, Dean."
Dean had adverted his eyes away from her stare. He saw Finn staring her down before their promo together, and he knew that he was feeling beyond hurt and perhaps a bit jealous too. "Do you still love Seth?"
Logan stared at him for a second before scoffing, turning her head to smile. "Are you serious, Dean?"
"Dead serious."
Logan rolled her eyes again, "Not in a romantic way, Dean. I've moved on, and I just want Finn."
Dean nodded his head while his blue eyes trained onto her ring finger, that he knew where Seth's promise ring still laid on her finger. He was pleased that her finger laid bare without the pink band decorating it. "It hurts, I miss him and I don't know what to do."
Dean's eyes went back up to her face, seeing her brown orbs start getting glossy with tears that were threatening to come out and run down her cheeks. Dean didn't like to see Logan in this stare after seeing her for so long with a true happy smile on her face. It was clear to him that she felt deeply for the Irish Man.
He got off the equipment box and pulled her into him, wrapping his arms around her shoulders. "I know you do, but sometimes things take time to heal." He told her, trying anything to assure her that everything would heal itself in the end.
"Don't cry, Lo. You'll wreck your pretty face." Dean's hand came up to play with her two braids when he felt her shoulders shake and then a sniff came from her seconds later.
"I don't know what I'd do without you, Deano." She tightened her hand around his shield shirt as she fully relaxed into his warming embrace.
"You'd probably be crying in some locker room if it wasn't for me." He pulled her away with a cheeky grin on his face, which made Logan lift her lips in a small smile. His thumbs gently wiped away some black shadow that smudged under her eyes. "Don't tell anyone about how caring I am, it will ruin my reputation."
Logan let out a chuckle to which Dean smiled even wider down at her. He turned his body so both of them could walk down the hallway together, his arm wrapping around her shoulder. "Now, go put on a show. I have another segment to cut." He told her when they approached the gorilla. Dean opened up her black leather jacket for Logan to slip her arms into.
"Dean.." Logan trailed his name on her tongue when he turned on his heel. Dean froze and turned back around, raising a blonde eyebrow. "Te quiero."
Dean smiled warmly back at her, "I love you too, Kiddo."
Logan smiled while watching him leave to go find Seth to start their promo later. "Boyfriend?" A voice questioned from beside Logan, and she turned her head to see Mickie walking up towards her with her blue gear on.
Logan shook her head while smiling down at her shoes. "No, Dean's just a really good friend of mine. You haven't been back that long, he's dating Renee Young." She informed the woman in front of her, to which she just nodded; her eyes trailing Dean's figure in the distance.
"You know, I'm surprised you didn't give some bitchy reply." Mickie told her with a chuckle and Logan raised an eyebrow at her. "I've heard the girls talk- well girl, talk about you in the locker room.. not all nice things."
Logan snorted, knowing that the only girl that would be talking shit about her would be either Emma, or Nia but since Nia had been absent from Live Shows lately, she pinpointed it was Emma.
"Let me guess, Emma?" Logan questioned her, her eyes flickering towards one of the stage managers.
"How'd you know?"
"Emma's been bashing me since my debut here." Logan told her. "Not a surprise that she's bashing me in the locker room."
"James, Perris. It's show time."
Both women had nodded away at the Stage manager as he begun setting up the music for Mickie. "Good luck, you'll need it." Mickie winked back at her as her music started playing through the speakers.
Logan chuckled as she matched the former Women's champion disappear up the stairs and through the black curtain. Logan's brown eyes flickered up towards the monitor as she watched Mickie on the stage, cheers erupting through the arena was the usual response from her.
Logan started clasping her belt onto her waist and then zipped up her leather jacket, covering up her bright red ring gear. She looked towards the stage manager as she put her hood up to cover her head, and the arena went black.
Logan breathed out and started climbing the stairs to get behind the curtain. She could already hear some faint cheering over her music as she started walking towards the tape on the stage, with her back towards the universe, the lights began flickering.
Mickie watched as Logan started walking down the ramp, her black jacket was now unzipped and the championship was in clear view around her waist. Mickie smiled as the champion slid into the ring, looking up at her briefly under her hood before uncovering her head.
Logan mounted the turnbuckle, and started gesturing towards the belt around her waist and yelling out in the crowd, to which got a roar of cheers in response.
Logan turned her head, jumping off the turnbuckle to face Mickie who had both hands on her hips, watching Logan with a smile on her face.
Logan took off her jacket in the ring this time, and passed her championship to the ring announcer as he begun exiting the ring.
The bell rung, indicating that the match had begun and both ladies started to circle each other after they both slapped hands, showing their signs of respect before competing.
---
It wasn't as hard to find Finn Balor as Dean thought it would be, and to his surprise, he was in catering along with Anderson. Finn's blue eyes were looking up towards the television, as Logan and Mickie were in the ring, Mickie having the upper hand in the start of the match.
"I don't understand why you don't just talk to her," Dean heard Anderson tell him as he leaned back into his steel chair, his eyes flickering towards his friend.
Dean approached the two men, which had Finn looking up at him in surprise since Dean never really spoken to him. "Got a minute, Devitt?"
Finn hesitantly nodded his head at the Lunatic Fringe, looking over at Anderson briefly before getting up from the table. He followed him out of the catering, and Dean leaned against the wall. "Look, I know you probably don't want me in your business but when it comes to someone I care about, I need to help resolve it."
Finn's eyes narrowed down at Dean the minute he started talking, and he knew that this conversation was without a doubt about Logan. Finn clenched his jaw and folded his arms over his chest. "Look, Man. I talked to Logan earlier, and what she has told you is genuine."
"It's not any of your business about what's going on between us." Finn almost snapped at him, his icy eyes staring back into Dean's. "She made it clear that there's still something there with Seth-"
Dean rolled his eyes, "C'mon, Devitt. Don't be a dick, just hear the girl out. She cares about you, a lot and she doesn't want anything to do with Seth." Dean watched him as he resisted to roll his eyes at his words. "I know my two bestfriends, and I know Logan better than anyone. She pushed him away after, and I know she doesn't look at Seth the way she looks at you."
Finn adverted his eyes, a small sigh coming out of his lips once he looked towards the ground. He didn't know if he should take Dean's words seriously, "I just want to see my bestfriend happy again, and you make her happy, Devitt."
Finn felt Dean's hand pat him on the back as he started walking behind him, leaving Finn alone to process the gears grinding away in his head. He knew that Dean just wanted the best for Logan, to see her smiling again, which he knew she had been lacking with a smile on her face and most of that was because of him.
---
Logan mounted the top rope as Mickie laid almost lifeless on her back, in the ring. Both women had been going back and forth after Logan gained an upper hand in the match, and a close line sent to Mickie's chest had her seeing stars as the air was sucked out of her lungs.
There was also the matter that both Nia Jax and Alexa Bliss had came out during the match. Alexa had joined on commentary just as the match was starting, and then Nia joined her, which surprised Logan since she hadn't seen her since she had gotten injured.
Logan jumped from the top rope, and just as she was about to land, Mickie's knees came up, hitting Logan in the shoulders.
Logan let out a groan and twisted painfully off of Mickie as a sharp stinging pain hit the middle of her shoulder blades. It was only until the referee almost hit a three count, that Logan remembered Mickie had pinned her, and Logan got her arm up just when the Ref was about to count three.
Mickie shot up into a sitting position, her hands going through her curls as she thought she had won the match. Mickie rose to her feet, grabbing hold of Logan's braids and pulling her up.
Logan pushed Mickie away, letting the women bounce off the ropes, only to be caught with the Kiss of Death. Logan's boot connected with the side of Mickie's face, hitting her square in the jaw and a popping noise erupted throughout the arena.
Logan scurried for the pin as soon as Mickie hit the ground once again, and when the Referee's hand hit the matt for the three count, Logan's song blasted through the arena.
Logan pushed herself up off Mickie who was sprawled out in front of her. The Referee handed her title and she felt him raise her hand in the air.
Logan's eyes flickered towards the stage, where Alexa and Nia both stared back at the Champion with stern looks on both of their faces. Logan smirked and raised her championship in the air for both of them to see.
"Bow down to the Queen!" She screamed over her music, and she knew that they couldn't hear her, but the camera's did. Logan looked back at Mickie, who was now leaning against the ropes with her hand caressing her throbbing jaw, and offered a hand towards the former Women's champion.
Mickie looked up at her, and her frown was replaced with a small smile of gratitude as she took hold of the girl's hand. "You put up a hell of a fight." Logan leaned into her as both of them hugged in the middle of the ring.
"So did you." Mickie replied back, and Logan helped her out of the ring.
When Logan got back to the backstage area, she was greeted by none other than Paul Heyman and Brock Lesnar, "You kicked ass out there, Logan. Good to see you haven't lost your touch since your knee injury."
Logan's eyes rose to look the beast in the eyes. She would be lying if she said she didn't find Brock Lesnar intimidating, he was triple the size of her muscular wise, and taller. "Thanks Brock, I appreciate your words."
"You were magnificent out there, Miss Jane! What a show!" Paul Heyman's over excited voice filled her ears, and Logan resisted the urge to say anything disrespectful.
Was he always this joyful?
"Well thank you. I'm excited to watch your title defense against Braun. I have no doubts that you will retain." Logan smiled up at Brock.
Brock and Logan said their farewells, and Logan began walking towards catering, but not before hearing Paul's words. "Nice Lady she is, I like her."
Logan shook her head and smiled down at her shoes as she turned the corner and walked into the catering. "There's the champ!" She heard Sasha yell out.
Logan smiled up at her, "Hey Sash." She grabbed a cold water bottle from the cooler and sat down beside her.
"Have you heard?" Sasha leaned onto her hands, resting her elbows on the table as Logan opened the water and drank half of it.
"Heard what?"
"The possibility of having a fatal four in two weeks, for your championship?" She informed her and Logan almost spit out her water.
She coughed as the liquid went down wrong and turned to face Sasha with wide eyes. "Come again? A fatal four way?" She croaked out, making Sasha laugh.
"Yeah." She confirmed. "Nia, Alexa, and Me."
Logan's eyes almost bulged out of her skull, she couldn't believe that in just a week of having her championship, that Kurt would put her into a fatal four way match with her newly earned title on the line.
She had faith in herself for retaining, of course, but the odds of that were now slim. The ladies could pin the other, and win her championship without herself getting pinned.
"Why am I just hearing this now?"
Sasha leaned back into the chair and shrugged. "I don't know, I overheard Nia and Alexa talking about it in the locker room when I was on my way in there." She told her. "Apparently Nia went to Kurt to set the match up and it will be revealed when I compete tonight."
Logan was kind of pissed off at the match being formed without her knowledge, and that Nia thought to press herself into the title match. It was suppose to be a one on one match with Alexa in two weeks, and now she guessed that it would change.
"Of course she did." Logan sighed out, her eyes flickering towards the television in front of them. Bray Wyatt was competing against Gold dust, and Logan knew that Finn was going to make an appearance at the end of the match.
Logan was a big fan of Bray Wyatt, because of his interesting character in the ring, and the weird aura he created as well. He was overall a good wrestler, and the men in the locker room had to agree as well.
It was no surprise that Bray had picked up the win, successfully pinning Gold dust. Logan's eyebrows furrowed when Bray had picked up a white cloth and started making his way slowly towards Gold dust, who was sprawled out in the middle of the ring.
"What's he doing?" Logan looked over at Sasha, who looked up from her phone. Her lips went into a thin line while concentrating on the aftermath of the match.
Logan's eye brows rose when Bray begun wiping his face paint off with the white cloth, looking towards the camera. "See? He's just like Finn Balor!" Bray screamed out, looking down at the bare face that was hidden beneath the gold and black paint.
Logan let out a snort of amusement as Bray stood back up, "He's just a man!"
It wasn't long until Finn's music started to play, and the crowd erupted into cheers. Logan watched as Finn began a full sprint down towards the ring. Finn challenged him on with a gesture of his finger's, and Bray rolled out of the ring quickly.
"Ugh, he's so sexy when he's angry." Logan pouted and leaned her chin into her hands, propping her elbows up on the table.
Sasha snorted from beside her. "He's sure something." She smiled over at her friend, and then returned her gaze towards the television.
"Ah, there you are Logan." A voice caught Logan's attention and she turned to see the General Manager coming towards her.
Logan immediately put a smile on her face and greeted him. "Hello, Kurt. You found me, what can I help you with?" Her eyes flickered down towards the several pages of white paper in his hands.
"I came to talk to you actually, I know this is short notice but you have a promo with Nia Jax later in Card six." He handed her the papers that were in his hands.
Logan scanned the black words of the script that was handed to her. It was currently card five, so that left her the remainder of the half hour to review this.
"I know you can put on a great promo without the script, but if you forget some lines, wing it." Kurt told her, and then patted her on the back.
Logan's eyebrows rose when Kurt turned to leave, and she turned her head to look over at Sasha, who was looking back at her with an amused expression.
---
It wasn't long until Logan found herself in front of the Women's Locker Room, waiting for her cue to enter for her promo. Currently, Nia was inside looking at the television which showcased that Asuka was coming to Raw soon, which Logan was excited to see her friend once again.
It was hard to talk to her now, due to an even more hectic schedule since she had become the Champion. Asuka coming to Raw, would allow the two ladies connect once again.
One of the Camera crew gestured her to enter the locker room, and Logan walked into the camera frame, her championship laying on her shoulder as she stood beside Nia Jax.
"Surprised to see you back here, how long has it been since you've been on live television, two weeks?" Logan smirked up at Nia, who turned to face the shorter brunette. "Where you hiding away after you injured me, because you knew that I would come back to take my revenge?"
"Afraid of you?" Nia chuckled down at her. "The only person who should be afraid here is you." She sneered down at Logan, turning her body to face her. "You should be afraid of loosing that precious title that lays on your shoulder because as of twenty minutes ago, that title match you had with Alexa has turned into a fatal four way."
Logan bit the inside of her cheek as her eyes glared back up into Nia's. "And guess who's in that match? I am, and I'm coming to take that title off your shoulder."
Logan watched with a slightly frightened expression on her face, like she was instructed to do. She watched as Nia walked off screen and Logan only tucked her championship more firmly in her hold.
The camera's turned off and Logan took her championship off of her shoulder and sighed. She didn't want to have this match, with three other women when she was promised a one on one.
Her eyes flickered back over to the television, that showcased their pictures and showed that the match would be happening at No Mercy.
The Camera crew soon walked out of the Women's Locker room, and Logan started stripping off her ring gear and pulling out a pair of maroon colored skinny jeans. A buzzing sound that came from her bag had her pausing with sliding her jeans over her legs.
Logan grabbed her phone from her duffle bag, and looked at the caller ID of who had texted her while pulling her jeans up.
F.B
I hope you're still at the arena, and if you are, could you meet me in my locker room?
Logan's eyes scanned the text message from Finn over and over again. She sighed and decided to put her phone back down and grab her white long sleeved crop top, which had a lace up detail in the front and put it over her head. She then changed into some black heeled boots and grabbed her championship from the bench.
It didn't take her long to walk to Finn's locker room, and now she was standing outside of it, debating whether or not to actually knock and talk to him. Yes, this is what she wanted, for Finn to message her, and hopefully talk things out with her but now that it was actually happening, she felt nervous. She wanted nothing more than to just turn back around and act like she didn't receive the text.
It was until Logan bit down on her bottom lip and raised her hand to knock on the door, that it opened before she had a chance to knock. Finn stood in front of her, a surprised look on his face since he had seen that she didn't open his message.
"I didn't think ya'd actually come." Finn scratched the back of his neck, feeling the awkward tension rise between the both of them. "Well I did, what did you want?" Logan almost whispered out the words.
Finn moved to the side to let her walk into the Locker room, and Logan walked into the room, hearing the door close behind her. Her eyes landed on the suitcases that were already packed away, and she turned around to face him again.
"I spoke to Dean, and he told me to hear ya out."
Logan's brows rose at the mention of Dean's name, and the thought that he would go behind her back to speak matters on something that didn't concern him. "That was not his place to do that." She told him, shaking her head as her arms crossed.
"I told him that, and he was reluctant to not get involved." Finn replied, sitting down on one of the chairs in the room. He offered her to sit down in front of him, to which Logan denied. "Truth is that he might've changed my mind on some things."
Logan chewed on the inside of her cheek while looking straight into his blue eyes. "What things?"
"Breaking up with you."
Logan's mouth parted slightly, making an 'o' shape as she looked towards the ground, "If you still want too-"
"As much as I want to remain angry with you, I can't ignore how much I've been missin' ya the past week." Finn told her truthfully, making Logan's brown eyes return to his blue ones. "I understand that relationships are not something you're used too, and how vulnerable you were that night and that was completely wrong of Seth to take advantage of that."
"I know that I'm partly to blame for that, I kissed him back and that wasn't right of me."
"But you pushed him away, ya knew it was wrong." Finn got off the chair and started walking towards her. "Relationships are bumpy, and these are the dark days that come with it."
Logan felt his hand run up her arm slightly and she felt butterflies in the pit of her stomach, her skin on fire from just a simple touch of his fingers on her skin. "I'm sorry, I care about you and only you, Ferg." Logan's eyes left Finn's when he laced his fingers in hers, to which put a small smile on her face.
"I don't want anyone else." She finished her sentence, her eyes finding Finn's again. "I'm sorry for hurting you." Her hands left his, only to replace them on the sides of his face, his beard tickling her palms.
"I know." He breathed softly and leaned in to press his lips onto hers.
A/N:
You are welcome for getting them back together, but this is definitely not the smooth road ahead, and expect more bumps in the road for them. I hope you guys liked the chapter, and look at that gif I added in the beginning, he's just so breathtakingly gorgeous. UGH.
