thirty three | "you're insatiable"
"So, how long has it's been since you've walked around these parts?"
Yoongi turned to look at Hoseok, a mixture of disbelief and amusement lacing his expression. Hoseok cleared his throat, choosing to look away from the source. They were walking around the island, an uncomfortable space between them, even though all Hoseok wanted to do was hold hands with Yoongi. The sun still shone brightly, casting a warm glow around Yoongi and Hoseok's frame. The sun felt as it always had on Hoseok, which he found strange, but supposed it was because he wasn't a complete vampire.
"You could ask me anything in the universe, Hoseok, and you choose to ask me if I've been how long it's been since I've been on my mother's island?"
Hoseok raised his arms defensively. "I'm trying to get to know you."
"If I had been here recently, Hoseok, I would have never left this island," Yoongi chuckled, his expression softening. "I would have caught your scent, and I would have stayed at your side. Had my mother left me, I would have been with you through it all. Time is irrelevant in my eyes, but I can say it's been centuries since I've been here." He smiled nostalgically. "Life was good here, Hoseok. Away from evils. Away from Artemis. We could stay here if you'd like."
"Absolutely not," Hoseok automatically answered, folding his arms across his chest. "I refuse to spend another second here when there are others who still think I'm dead. Besides, I need to get my revenge. We need to get our revenge."
"I like the sound of that," Yoongi smiled, though he made no move to show affection towards Hoseok beyond that. "Are you planning on assuming the throne after?"
Hoseok shook his head. "I have no intention of being King. Yeonjun can rule. I remember you telling me that he was meant to. We'll figure it out. Maybe you can bring the Gwan line back into existence."
Yoongi shook his head. "I'd need at least one living Gwan descendant to be able to do that. If you can find me one, we could try."
"What if my ability helps restore the line?" Hosoek suggested, looking at Yoongi curiously. Yoongi raised an eyebrow but said nothing, and Hoseok took it as a sign to elaborate. "Well, you said that soulmates complement each other. If you're powerful enough to leave no trace of the Gwan line, then maybe I'm just as powerful to restore it."
"Learning to master your ability takes centuries, Hoseok," Yoongi responded quietly. "You know what happened when we used our abilities when we couldn't control them. I don't want you to cause anything you'll regret."
"Is that why you're hesitant to let me drink human blood?"
Yoongi nodded. "It is. I am trying to protect you, Hoseok. From yourself, but it's protection nonetheless. I don't know how you'll react once you do start craving human blood. You can't be addicted to something you've never had before."
"How did you get introduced to drinking blood?"
"It was silly." Yoongi shook his head. "It started with a dare. Namjoon had never seen our father drinking human blood, so he didn't quite believe us when we said that it was possible to drink from humans and that because we were part vampires, it would benefit us. Jimin dared him to be the first one to try it out, and after some gentle pushing, he did. I still remember the way his eyes widened in surprise as his fangs tore into that human's flesh. You could see the blood flowing out of the person, the color draining out of their skin, but Namjoon didn't stop. His eyes had taken on a red color, and he'd drained the body completely. We couldn't stop him."
"He was fine with it?"
Yoongi chuckled. "If anything, he wanted more. He hardly registered our voices. We couldn't catch up to him anymore. He was too fast for our eyes and our speed. It didn't take him long to find another victim. Against my better judgment, I had taken some of the blood from his first victim and tasted it. Then, I could understand why Namjoon was reacting the way he was. I'd only had a tiny bit of blood, and I could already feel my fangs drawing blood at my lips. Safe to say, a certain village did not make it. We were in Rome, if I remember right. Probably one of the best nights of our lives. Though, I should not be telling you this. You'll be tempted."
"You make it sound like it is one of the best things the world has to offer."
"In a way, it is."
Yoongi traced his finger over Hoseok's neck, a lazy smile protruding his lips. Hoseok swallowed sharply, feeling his heart rate pick up as Yoongi got closer to him, his fingers eventually wrapping around the back of his neck. His breath caught in his chest, and his eyes drifted sideways to see Yoongi continuing to look at him, almost hungrily. Yoongi took another step closer, then another, until Hoseok could feel Yoongi's coll breath on his neck. Hoseok felt his eyes flutter close, his neck unconsciously beginning to tilt.
"It's funny," Yoongi murmured, letting every syllable hit Hoseok's ear. "I'm doing so little, and you're reacting so quickly. I wonder why that is."
Hoseok could almost feel the smirk on Yoongi's face. Hoseok's eyes opened, and he turned to look at Yoongi, only for Yoongi to click his tongue and turn Hoseok back to his original stance.
"I never said you could move, sunshine."
Yoongi slowly whispered kisses. One on Hoseok's earlobe took the little air Hoseok had in his lungs. Continuing down, kissing his cheek, feathering his jawline, and eventually slipping down his neck. Hoseok could feel his knees becoming jelly at each touch, his lips parting as his body completely relaxed against Yoongi.
"Yoongi, we're outside," Hoseok almost whimpered, feeling Yoongi's fangs scraping at his neck. "If someone sees us, we're—"
"I'm not doing much, Hoseok," Yoongi chuckled, pulling away. "I know my mother said we shouldn't be outside, but we are at a place where we could throw caution out the window. Though I wouldn't mind heading back inside if it's to lay with you."
"You're insatiable."
"Can you blame me?" Yoongi hummed, drawing circles around Hoseok's neck. "I'm curious. I wonder if you still taste the same. It should be a crime that I only got the opportunity to drink from you once, Hoseok. I had thought regular human blood had been out of this world, but your blood, sunshine, set me ablaze."
Hoseok was almost afraid to ask.
"How so?"
Almost.
"I wanted to make you mine right then and there," Yoongi whispered, smirking lazily. "You looked so beautiful with your head tilted back, eyes rolling back. You'd let everything go then. You forgot about who stood in our way. Had I no restraint, I would have whisked you away. Your blood, Hoseok, it was heaven. Those who do not have you should be envious of the gift you have given me. I would have done anything to keep you with me then, and I would do so much more now to ensure you stay at my side."
"If you wanted me, you should have taken me," Hoseok said, his breathing erratic, and voice uneven. Yoongi chuckled once more.
"You say that now, but before, Hoseok, you would have run for the heels," Yoongi let his hands drift down Hoseok's back. "What would you have liked me to do? Forced you into submission? Forced you to be with me? What lengths would I have had to go through to ensure you never left my side?"
Hoseok's breath hitched, cheeks flushing red.
"You get so worked up, Hoseok," Yoongi's voice swam in Hoseok's ears like the sirens who called out the sailors to their death. He was walking on thin ice, Hoseok knew it, but he found himself not caring. Maybe it was the warm feeling coiling in his stomach that had his mind fogging or Yoongi's words that had his heart beating at rates unheard of, but Hoseok knew he wouldn't be able to make it inside, in the safety, as Selene had instructed if Yoongi kept speaking like that.
"You're a real charmer."
"One of my many, many traits and they're all for you," Yoongi remarked, "Aren't you lucky?"
Yoongi finally moved away from Hoseok, much to Hoseok's disappointment.
"We should head inside, sunshine," Yoongi smiled, lacing Hoseok's hand with his. "I'm afraid that everyone would be able to know of your existence if we stay here much longer. I'm not ready to share you with the world yet."
It had only taken them seconds to head back inside the security of the building. Laughing with each other, Yoongi suddenly carried Hoseok bridal style, to which Hoseok yelped, wrapping his arms around Yoongi's neck. As they headed up the stairs, Yoongi would occasionally kiss Hoseok, his steps becoming faster with every kiss given. When they had finally gotten into the room that Hoseok could only presume was Yoongi's, it had only taken a split second for Hoseok's back to land on the bed, Yoongi already having unfastened the blouse he had been wearing.
"You waste no time," Hoseok remarked dryly, bringing Yoongi in for another kiss. Yoongi gave Hoseok a lopsided grin, his eyes dazzling with euphoria as he bent down to Hoseok's ear.
"Tell me you want me, sunshine," Yoongi whispered, caressing Hoseok's cheek. "Say the words and I will be yours."
"Do you need me to say it when I'm already under you?" Hoseok drawled, smiling softly.
"I would never do something you do not fully consent to," Yoongi murmured, taking a moment to look at Hoseok. "I care about you too much to do that."
"My hero," Hoseok giggled, leaning in to kiss Yoongi's now slightly swollen lips. "I want you, Yoongi. Is that what you needed to hear?"
Yoongi's eyes darkened with lust. His tongue raked across his lips, fangs sticking out just the tiniest bit. He leaned down, his fingers circling around Hoseok's jaw.
"I'll get to hear far more than that once we're done."
🩸
In a span of three days, Hoseok had learned so much more about Yoongi.
Apart from exploring every inch of Yoongi's body, Hoseok had also learned a lot about Yoongi's past. He slowly learned Yoongi's interests, and ambitions, and he got a condensed version of Yoongi's family history and all the drama that surrounded it. Yoongi had shown Hoseok a picture of his father, and Hoseok had been struck at how similar Yoongi and his father looked. It felt wonderful to know that Yoongi was opening up to Hoseok, and in turn, Hoseok had talked to him a lot more.
Learning Yoongi's quirks and dislikes, birthday, just everything that he could learn from Yoongi, left Hoseok warm. Yoongi took great care of him, and he'd made it known with how he treated Hoseok. Anger twisted in his heart as he knew that they could have had more times like this had his father and Seokjin, his past lover, had not interfered. He could have fallen for Yoongi a lot faster, and they wouldn't have had to spend so much time apart. Life like this, with Yoongi from the moment Hoseok's eyes fluttered open to the moment his eyes closed for the day, was something Hoseok could get used to.
"Are you ready to head back?"
Hoseok's head lay on Yoongi's chest as Yoongi said this, and he frowned. In truth, he wasn't ready to head back. He wanted to stay, as selfish as that sounded, and explore more with Yoongi. He didn't have the strength yet to go back and face the real world. To the real world, he'd been dead for years. It felt like a strange pressure, to know that once Hoseok stepped foot into the world, he would turn everything upside down.
But he couldn't be sheltered from the world longer than he already was.
"I'm ready whenever you are." Hoseok laced Yoongi and his fingers together. "We're together, right? Side by side. From now, until death do us part."
Yoongi smiled. "I like the sound of that, sunshine. Does this mean we're courting?"
Hoseok burst into laughter, shaking his head at the question. "I believe we're far more than courting. In our time, we would have already had to be married with all the things that we've done."
"The world doesn't need to know what we do in private," Yoongi dismissed, running his fingers through Hoseok's hair. "Seokjin, however, I will be showing you off. I hope that's alright with you. One of my greatest accomplishments, to this date. I stole you from him, and I made you mine. Most he got to do was kiss you. I'd consider giving him the hugs and hand holding, too, but only on a good day."
"Show off," Hoseok mumbled, his cheeks flaming red. "He doesn't need to know that."
"I wouldn't even mind if you told him that you did me too," Yoongi said coyly, grinning from ear to ear. "It would not be untrue."
"You're ridiculous," Hoseok's cheeks flamed even more, and Yoongi laughed. "You're going to drive Seokjin insane. I doubt he'll bat an eye at seeing I'm alive, but you telling him that we've laid together in the same bed will be his breaking point."
"Good," Yoongi stated. "That only makes me more motivated to speak. Seokjin killed you. He deserves far more than knowing that he didn't get to make love to you. The more he hurts the better."
Hoseok smiled, squeezing Yoongi's hand. "If he's guilty over what he did, there could be redemption for him."
"You told him if he forcibly erased your memories, you would never forgive him. He did it anyhow," Yoongi said, attempting to keep his voice calm. "I told him multiple times not to interfere, and he did not listen. I told him that he wouldn't be able to have you, but he didn't listen. He got Artemis to make him half-God to get you back, and he swore to abstinence, and he still didn't get you. Then, he killed you, believing that was the only path left for you. Now, he slaughters as many vampires as possible so that he can get to me and my brothers. Kim Seokjin is past the point of redemption."
Yoongi was right, Hoseok knew it.
"Focus on the people that do care about you, sunshine," Yoongi said warmly. "We'll get to see them soon. They'll be crying tears. Well, maybe not my brothers. Okay, maybe not Taehyung either, but I'm sure Jungkook and Yeonjun will cry."
"Jungkook?" Hoseok mused.
"He never admitted it, but even though his role in your life was fabricated, he did care about you a lot," Yoongi chuckled. "It's why he remembered your favorite breakfast the first night you were with us. It's why he kept going back to you. You're the closest to his past life. It's what made him perfect for the job, to begin with. Jungkook had been alive when Micah's existence had just begun. You're Micah's son. Once upon a time, Jungkook was good friends with your grandfather. You two are far more connected than you realize."
Hoseok hadn't thought about it like that, but it made sense. Taehyung and Jungkook weren't close in terms of what happened between them, but Jungkook and Hoseok had the most people connected to each other. What happened to Taehyung had been an isolated incident, one that impacted one village, and with Jungkook, who knew Hoseok's ancestors, ones who had caused irreparable damage. Hoseok's grandfather had killed Jungkook's family, and Hoseok supposed karma reached his family as Hoseok was killed.
It was still odd to say that he had died. Hoseok still couldn't believe it. He still felt normal, if that was the proper word to describe this entire situation. Sure, he could see clearer, had more strength, and his appearance had changed a tiny bit, but other than that there wasn't anything that identified him as anything other than human.
"We'll drink blood to celebrate your return," Yoongi announced, much to Hoseok'ssurprise. "Don't get too ahead of yourself, sunshine. You're on a strict animal diet. Human blood will not touch those sweet, pure lips of yours. I'll make sure of it."
Hoseok rolled his eyes.
"To be ethical?"
"We are nothing if not ethical," Yoongi nodded, pausing for a moment. "Well, mostly. There are times when blood is spilled unethically, but alas that is one of the many negative effects of war. Did I tell you Seokjin is slowly decimating the human population?"
Hoseok immediately sat up, looking at Yoongi in disbelief. Yoongi took the opportunity to sit up, his back leaning against the headboard that thankfully, had remained intact apart from a couple of scratches Yoongi swore had already been there. Yoongi's eyes flashed purple for a moment, fingers pointing to the air, and Hoseok watched as Yoongi began to show him what he was referring to.
"He swears he's killing the vampires," Yoongi scoffed, "You see those corpses around him? They're humans. Some of them are vampires, but most of them aren't. I do not know for sure what my brothers have done to combat this, but my guess is that they've tried to find ones that are still alive and turning them into vampires. That's the thing with going on a murderous rampage. You cannot make the vampire population go extinct. To do so, you would have to cut from the source. You'd have to kill us."
"You haven't been found," Hoseok said, winding at all the carnage. "None of them."
Yoongi's lips quirked upwards. "He has not. He never will. We only make ourselves known when we want to. Concealment is one of our greatest strengths. Yet another reason why I cannot let you consume human blood. I'm keeping your interests at heart. Taehyung was a menace that couldn't be controlled. Jungkook had more time to get adjusted because he was linked to Namjoon for years. Even then, he was still difficult to control. You've spent years mending your body, and now you're able to survive without human blood."
"Jungkook and Taehyung can't?" Hoseok questioned. Yoongi shook his head. "Aren't we all the same?"
"The sun didn't hurt you," Yoongi said. "Taehyung and Jungkook can stand under the sun, but after a while, it will hurt them. I've seen you stand under the sunlight for hours, and haven't seen you flinch once. It's impressive. You've even consumed human food, and you're doing fine. The other two get queasy after a while. Not with liquids, though. Yet another reason why you should abstain from drinking human blood."
"Your mother said it was my choice," Hoseok scowled. "The more you tell me to not drink, the more you tempt me."
"Maybe I can distract you with other temptations," Yoongi suggested, his voice dropping an octave. Hoseok smiled, the conversation of blood already forgotten as their lips met together for a quick kiss. After a couple of moments, Hoseok pulled apart.
"Insatiable," Hoseok scoffed, getting out of the bed. "Don't know how many times I have to tell you."
"All of eternity, darling," Yoongi grinned, mirroring Hoseok's steps. "Does this mean you're ready to go?"
"If I don't leave now, I don't think I ever will," Hoseok sighed, fixing his hair. "Besides, are your brothers not concerned about your whereabouts?"
Yoongi's arms snaked themselves around Hoseok's waist, and Yoongi rested his head on Hoseok's shoulder, watching as Hoseok continued to fix himself. Hoseok's cheeks tinted pink as he caught Yoongi's expression of admiration and endearment, a simple gaze that left Hoseok weak at the knees.
"Our mother has probably made them aware," Yoongi answered, brushing Hoseok's concerns away. "If she didn't, well, we've brought them an early present. A gift, if you will."
"You're calling me a gift?"
"The best one," Yoongi smiled, "Though I may be biased. Now come on. You needn't try to look your best. You know them well enough. I'm sure none of them would question you wearing the simplest of garments."
"I don't have to," he agreed, snickering. "But I was always told I must look presentable. My hair, disheveled, is the opposite. That reminds me. How are we getting out of this island?"
"We'll swim." Noticing Hoseok's concerned face, Yoongi quickly added, "I'm joking. We're teleporting. You remember, right? Very convenient. Unless you'd rather run across the water."
"We can run across water?" Hoseok asked, amazed. Yoongi smiled, nodding. "What can't we do?"
"Age, for one." Yoongi began, earning a sigh from Hoseok. "Are you ready, mon amour?"
That was a new one.
Hoseok didn't think he was ever going to be ready, but the time was as good as any. After, straightening himself out, and ensuring his clothes had not a single wrinkle. The only thing he had left to finish his attire was to put a crown on his head, to signify the royalty that had been gifted to him. Had Hoseok always been this beautiful? It was silly to think that about himself, and Hoseok almost felt like Narcissus. A beautiful monster, Hoseok wondered if that's what Seokjin would call him. And his father? Well, he'd probably just call him a monster. Strangely enough, it was okay.
It wasn't like the monsters his father had raised him to hate had killed him.
It had been the humans he'd been taught to love and defend that had killed him.
🩸
"The Moon is shining brightly today."
Yeonjun smiled, as he looked upwards, letting the shine bathe him. Jungkook sat next to him, staring pensively into the ballroom, where Namjoon had instructed all of them to meet up. Jimin and Taehyung were together, Taehyung slightly less patient than Jimin was being, definitely more than Jungkook. Namjoon was nowhere to be found, and Jungkook would have followed him, but oddly enough, Namjoon had urged him to stay. Something about what he was asked to do, was something Jungkook couldn't be a part of, which Jungkook took offense to, particularly because whenever Namjoon had important business, he always took Jungkook with him. Being a Commander in his former life, Jungkook knew the laws of the land, and he'd become a chief asset in stopping a lot of the advancements during the First War.
And after Hoseok died, Jungkook found himself leaving a lot more.
"I've never noticed the Moon's shine," Jungkook said, offering Yeonjun a strand of conversation. "What makes today different?"
Yeonjun pondered for a few moments. "The Moon has good news for us today. I haven't seen Her shine like this for years. It must be a joyous night."
"You don't know the occasion?"
Now, this was a surprise. Yeonjun knew everything that happened with the Moon, so for him to also be clueless was strange. Yet another thing for Jungkook to add to this day. The Purebloods had hardly eaten, leaving Taehyung and Jungkook uneasy, Yeonjun had appeared suddenly, after being told by his mother that he was needed, despite them not needing help at the moment.
"I don't," Yeonjun responded truthfully, smiling lopsidedly. "Do you believe me?"
"Have you given me a reason not to?" Jungkook chuckled. "You haven't betrayed me yet, Yeonjun. Don't tell me you're about to start."
Yeonjun put his hand on his chest, gasping horrified. "Why would I betray you, Jeon Jungkook, when your presence has been in the Moon's favor for centuries."
"And for that I am grateful."
Yeonjun smiled at that but said nothing more. Jungkook sighed, looking around a bit, before finally standing. His patience had worn out, and he could sense Namjoon near. Whatever he had been planning on doing, he was now back, and Jungkook couldn't wait around for Namjoon.
"Jungkook," Jimin warned, eyeing him warily. "Stay."
"Until what?"
He was tired of waiting.
"Jungkook, be patient," Jimin pressed, looking at him seriously. His eyes flashed green, and Jungkook scoffed, taking a step back.
"You know you can't control me with that," Jungkook said, shaking his head. Jimin cocked his head to the side, the green in his eyes becoming more prominent.
'"I don't need my abilities to put you in your place," Jimin stated, eyeing Jungkook challengingly. "What are you going to do to me?"
Jungkook took a step forward. Taehyung stood by him, his eyes starting to glow blue. Yeonjun eyed everyone, already going in between them. Jungkook stopped him, his own eyes glowing white, the tips of his fangs starting to poke. Noticing, Jimin scoffed, his expression souring significantly.
"Don't you think it's a bit disrespectful to be poking your fangs at me, Jungkook?" Jimin asked, voice dripping with venom. "I'm older than you. You're nothing but a baby. My brothers are already here. There's no need for you to be on edge."
"Yoongi's back."
Maybe Yoongi had something to do with the emergency. That had to be it if Jimin was actively trying to get in Jungkook's way. After a few moments, Jungkook pulled back, letting his eyes recede to their regular color. Jimin smirked, satisfied with Jungkook backing down. His eyes receded, and he beamed, linking his arm with Taehyung's.
"I assume Yoongi has good news," Yeonjun said, his eyes drifting to Jimin's.
"The best news."
They all turned to the sound of Yoongi's voice. He paused briefly, sensing the tension between the crowd. Yoongi gestured to them, quickly asking if the situation that had taken place seconds ago had been resolved. Jungkook bit his cheek but said yes, to keep the peace, and Jimin appeared satisfied. Yoongi, slightly uncertain, nodded, returning to the task at hand.
"The Moon has blessed us tonight," Yoongi said triumphantly. "I'm sure you were wondering why the Moon was particularly bright today, Yeonjun." At Yeonjun's agreeance, he continued. "It is more of a blessing for me, but who am I to keep the gift our mother, your aunt—" he said, pointing to Yeonjun, "—when I could share it with all of you."
"What gift?"
Yoongi smiled at Jungkook's question. "The gift of life."
Namjoon walked in, trays of glasses filled with blood, one of them with champagne. He passed them to each person, giving the champagne to Yeonjun, and strangely giving two glasses to Yoongi, before taking a stand next to Jungkook, smiling at him affectionately. He leaned to kiss Jungkook's cheek, wrapping his arm around Jungkook to ensure that he didn't go anywhere. They all watched as Yoongi stepped to the side, turning his attention towards the door.
"Today, we celebrate a life that was taken so wrongfully from us," Yoongi announced. "But by the grace of Selene and the blessing of the Fates has been returned to us."
Jungkook's ears perked up, his eyes widening at the familiar scent that had disappeared three and a half years ago. It was different now, but still recognizable. Yeonjun gasped, and Jungkook turned to look at him, to see that his eyes had already started leaking tears. If Jungkook's heart could race, he knew it would have already flown out of his chest. Jimin looked as if he was expecting it, but there was a smile on his face as if he was glad. Taehyung looked just as shocked as the rest of them, a confused grin lighting his features.
"My sunshine, Jung Hoseok."
Jungkook couldn't see when Hoseok had come into the room, his eyes blurring at Yoongi's words. He could feel Namjoon already wiping the tears from Jungkook's cheeks with a handkerchief, and he heard Yeonjun running towards Hoseok. He could hear Hoseok crying and laughing, and after years of not hearing Hoseok's voice, Jungkook could feel the heartache and the immense relief of having Hoseok back.
"I told them I had no need for dramatic entrances," Hoseok said, taking the glass out of Yoongi's hand. "Namjoon and Yoongi insisted. Apparently having a great entrance is key to life-altering situations?"
Jimin laughed, voice sounding like chiming bells, a sound so delightful, Jungkook knew that there was no dreaming this. If Jimin was laughing, then it had to be true. Jimin rarely laughed that genuinely, it was reserved only for his family.
"You'll come to learn that we love to dramatize our entrances," Jimin said, embracing Hoseok. "It seems you've done a plenty job to announce yourself. I've seen many entrances, but this is the first time in all our years of existence that someone has been brought back to life. You've waited years to make an entrance, Hoseok."
"If that doesn't scream family, I don't know what does," Taehyung agreed, raising his glass. "Welcome back, Hoseok. It's been lonely without you. The outside world has been missing your lovely presence. Your people have missed it even more."
"I see the Moon loves you, Hoseok," Yeonjun said, through tears. "But, if you decide to do this again, let me know beforehand. I spent too many sleepless nights mourning your death, only for you to be in the Moon's glory and rise from the dead. You owe me far more for letting me think you were dead."'
"Well, technically, I was dead but Selene nursed me back to health," Hoseok said, stopping briefly. "It's a long story. Maybe we should sit down somewhere so that we could talk about this."
"I'm just glad you're back," Jungkook said, almost cringing at how thick with emotion his voice had become. "Do us a favor and don't die again."
Yoongi cleared his throat. "We can talk logistics later." He raised his glass. "For now, here's to our future and the revenge that has been a long time coming."
"Hear, hear!"
Hoseok clinked his glass with Yoongi's and drank, forcing the thought of blood out of his mind. He'd tasted blood before when he'd been human, but it was metallic and bitter. Yoongi had reassured him that Hoseok was drinking animal blood, though he didn't specify from what animal and Hoseok had his apprehensions. Talking about drinking blood was different than actually taking it. But, it seemed as if all his scares were for nothing, because as soon as the blood passed Hoseok's lips, he drank it quickly, the taste of it, sweet and filling.
"It's not the best, but it's better than having you drink human blood," Yoongi said, motioning toward his glass. "You can smell it, right? The different scents coming from each glass? Animal and human blood are different."
"You'll be bored of animal blood after a while," Namjoon said, much to Yoongi's distaste. "It's true. You'll be tempted by human blood. We'll just have to hope that there is no instance in which you'll need to consume human blood."
"Do not speak things into existence, Namjoon," Jimin warned. "That's how it starts here. We should be glad Hoseok's back. We'll discuss his future later. For now, we celebrate. Jung Hoseok is back home."
Jungkook smiled, raising his glass towards Hoseok. "Welcome home."
Home.
Hoseok liked the sound of that.
