ten | "maybe they feared what they helped create"
When the world had yet to be filled with mortal inhabitants, gods ruled the world.
It wasn't easy being gods in an inhabited world. Gods were meant to be praised and worshipped. After the gods defeated the Twelve Titans, they expected to be revered— Zeus especially, but found that there was no one around to celebrate their accomplishment.
So, they had Prometheus, the Titan God of Fire, to make those worshippers become a reality.
Shaped by Prometheus's hand and breathed life into by the goddess Athena, humans became a reality but lived a life of misery in the dark, while the Gods, in their greed, lived life lavishly in warmth and light.
Prometheus, having played a part in human creation, pitied them, and in his pity, he turned against the Gods and gave humans fire— a choice that left him punished for centuries by Zeus. It all worked out for the Gods in the end. The humans had their fire and, with it, began their first steps towards civilization.
That's what separated Titans from Gods, their later successors.
While the first generation of Titans was always meant to be displaced by Kronus's children, the second generation of Titans conveyed much more empathy and compassion for those who weren't at their level. They felt for the pitiable humans only meant to worship the gods because they too could be disposed of at any time by the gods in charge.
And some of them fell in love with these mortal beings, which only caused devastating consequences for both parties as the gods, in their jealousy, would cast misery onto them for doing so.
But the gods didn't matter anyhow. Not anymore, at least.
Not when species like Yoongi's existed.
If anything, he and his brothers were gods. Gods among men, with abilities that could alter reality as they know it. Of course, the gods meant to protect their worshippers fell silent, though that was to be expected. The gods had always been predictable in that sense. They couldn't do anything about their existence because they, themselves, had played a part in Yoongi and his brother's existence.
Or maybe they feared what they had helped create.
Yoongi gazed out the window, his eyes passing, catching the slightest wisp of life. The moon had taken on a bright crescent, and a small smile slipped into Yoongi's lips. It was anything but a content smile. For it to be so required that everything go as planned, the way it was supposed to go, but Yoongi knew better than anyone when it came to destiny, it wouldn't be simple— not when there were so many different realities.
He wondered whether or not his mother was looking from the moon, watching him and his brother's every move to ensure that they were doing everything right. So far, She had yet to intervene, and Yoongi hoped to keep it that way. Nothing was scarier than a mother's rage, and as amusing it would be, he wouldn't want to wish Her wrath on anyone.
Still, time was ticking for Yoongi and Hoseok. Hoseok had a bit less than a month left to live, and if Yoongi didn't act on it soon, he'd lose Hoseok forever. The last thing he wanted to do was lose Hoseok— Yoongi had worked too hard to ensure that his existence would be secured, but just with all the uncertainties that the future held, he wasn't sure he could take the same steps his brothers did. It's not like he wanted to anyhow.
He'd already forced Hoseok's hand anyhow.
"I cannot for the life of me figure you out."
Yoongi smiled at his brother's words, though he said nothing. Namjoon continued to look at him, his gaze tracking Yoongi's every step while his hands played with his lover's hair. Jimin sat on the opposite side of the room, intrigue lacing his features.
"It's obvious he's trying to change the outcomes of the future," Jimin snickered. "Without forcing his hand. Come on, Yoongi. Nothing is stopping you from Turning the boy already."
Yoongi's hands balled into fists. "If need be, I will do it against his consent. I would rather him warm up to us, warm up to me, before doing anything of the sort."
"How do you know he would be willing to reason with us?" Jimin hummed thoughtfully. "With you?"
Yoongi paused, falling silent at Jimin's words. Knowing that he'd caught Yoongi off guard, Jimin stood up, placing his hands on his brother's shoulders. Yoongi tensed, turning his head slightly to meet Jimin's gaze. After a few moments, Jimin let him go, his calm expression dissolving into one of wary.
"I know you've seen the realities. We've seen many of the infinite possible outcomes," Jimin hissed. "I will not stake our survival on a human, a Prince who was placed there because of us. His father tried keeping you from Hoseok, even though the terms agreed to centuries ago. You think you can change that boy's mind within a month?"
"He will have to," Yoongi responded plainly. "Because if by a month's time he doesn't, he will die."
Jimin burst into laughter, one that bounced off the walls of the spacious room, though his laughter was anything but humorous. There was a condescending tone underlying it, one that inflicted anger onto Yoongi's otherwise calm expression. Namjoon, who was silently watching the talk, finally spoke.
"You of all people should know humans cannot be trusted," Namjoon said sternly. "I know you do not want to take the measures we did, but you cannot have the love story Mother and Father had. We aren't destined for that. You will not get him to be with you when he despises the very essence of your existence."
Yoongi scoffed. "If I have to, I will. I'm not Turning him against his will for him to despise my existence for the rest of eternity, and I am not letting Jimin mess around with Hoseok's emotions the same way he messed around with Taehyung's!"
"But it worked," Jimin retorted, eyes blazing emerald. "It worked, and he's still by my side. I do not understand why you want to wait this out. He won't see what we see. As soon as the chance opens for him to escape, he will. You know he will. You've seen it."
"It won't take long for Seokjin and Micah to track him down once the spell is enabled," Namjoon piped. "We aren't witches. And, you know that only the maker of the spell can break the spell."
Even Purebloods had their limits. When it came to witchcraft, only a sorcerer or a witch had the power to break any spell cast on the victim. It didn't matter how powerful anyone else was— every species was kept in perfect balance. What was cast by witches could only be erased by witches, just like whatever the Purebloods decided to do with their abilities could only be erased by them. It was an annoying feat, one that limited Yoongi, but it was something that couldn't be helped. It was the order of the world, and Yoongi was far immersed in it to break it.
"Not to worry, brothers," Jimin announced, lips curved upwards. "I recognized the sorcerer's signature."
Yoongi raised an eyebrow. "I have yet to see trace of the spell on Hoseok's body. How do you know already?"
"The fact that you ask wounds me," Jimin sighed dramatically, eyes receding to their regular color, the starting dispute with Yoongi forgotten just as quickly as it had sprung up. "Humans are my specialty. If there are any anomalies in the body, I know. I wouldn't be able to work my way around humans otherwise."
Yoongi scoffed. "Well? What are you waiting for? Summon them."
Jimin smirked. "Oh, dearest brother. I already have."

"I don't understand."
King Micah ignored Seokjin's remark, continuing his walk towards the forest. In the dark, the crescent moon was the only solace, but through the obscurity of trees little light shed through. Seokjin made sure to keep a hand on the hilt of his sword, wary of every step taken by either of them. Walking through the forest was never a good idea— especially at night. Yet, the King seemed hellbent on walking through the disheveled path, a feat that Seokjin couldn't pinpoint as anything but idiotic.
"Sir?"
Scoffing, King Micah finally turned to Seokjin. "You are many things Seokjin, but I did not think coward was going to be one of them."
Seokjin scowled. "I'm not a coward. I just don't understand why you didn't just wait until the morning to walk through the forest. There are way too many species that run rampant, ones that you can't control. You could get hurt and without Hoseok, there's no one left to assume the throne."
King Micah waved him off. "Worrying is not a good look on you. You'll grow older than me at this rate. I've gone through these woods many times. We'll be fine."
"How many times have you told yourself this, sir?"
"Trust me, Seokjin, when you've lived as long as I have, you become afraid of nothing." King Micah responded nonchalantly.
Seokjin blinked. "Sir, you've only been alive half a century."
King Micah smiled but said nothing.
Soon enough, they reached a clearing, where Seokjin could see just the faintest outline of a house. Seokjin noticed the moon's shine almost beaming down on the house, yet leaving it completely in the dark. He turned to King Micah, who paid no attention to him, and continued onward. He followed the King until they reached the front door of the house. King Micah knocked twice, and Seokjin waited patiently for the door to open.
It didn't.
Instead, the house disappeared, the structures holding in up disintegrating at the knocks. Seokjin's eyes widened in disbelief as he watched the house reduced to nothing but ashes, and in its place stood grass, aligning with the rest of the clearing.
"The Moon shines favorably upon you two tonight."
Seokjin turned to the sound of the voice, hands immediately unsheathing his sword as he placed himself in front of the King as if to protect him. The boy, whose voice it belonged to, raised an eyebrow at the action. Seokjin noticed the boy's mismatched eyes— one blue, one red, with specks of gold around the pupil. His hair was also split— half black, half white, leaving Seokjin with only more suspicion.
The King chuckled, shaking his head at Seokjin while shooting an apologetic glance at the boy.
"I apologize. My son-in-law becomes wary around people he does not know." Micah grinned. "The Moon still shines, I hope?"
The boy clicked his tongue. "As long as you remain in my good graces, so shall the Moon. If you were not, you two would have disintegrated. At least, one of you would have. Speak Micah, for I have a lot of errands I must do."
King Micah nodded. "My son, Jung Hoseok's been taken."
"So I've heard," the boy mused, sighing dramatically. "Such a tragedy. Were the Purebloods hoping to wage war? I can only imagine how much instability there's been. "
There was something about the boy in front of them that Seokjin couldn't fully trust. The boy, though clearly relaxed, seemed to have a cunning edge to him. Perhaps it was his imagination, but it almost felt like the boy was laughing at them— some sort of inside joke that he knew. But, he forced himself to remain calm. It was obvious that King Micah was familiar with this boy, and if the King trusted him, Seokjin had no choice but to trust him back.
"Where are my manners?" the boy suddenly exclaimed, grinning widely at Seokjin. "Apologies for not introducing myself earlier, Kim Seokjin. The name's Yeonjun. Choi Yeonjun. Sorcerer. "
"Pleasure." Seokjin stiffly responded though he felt anything but.
"I do hope he warms up to me," Yeonjun shook his head, smiling good-naturedly at the King. "I assume that you want to activate his location."
"That's why I came to you decades ago, no?" Micah retorted, crossing his arms. "Prove you're worthy to be of Her blood."
Yeonjun chuckled at the statements, though his eyes, starting to glow along with his hands, were portraying an indecipherable emotion.
"Anything for you, Your Excellency."
