Once Upon A Princess. Part Two
Maddie was still asleep at the window when the bunny and two birds arrived. They brought a squirrel with them. They opened the window, letting themselves in. Just as Maddie woke up, The birds showed her dress. She didn't think what she was seeing was real until the bunny jumped on her chest. Bruno came in to see the sight and shoo'd the animals out. The Bunny and Squirrel escaped through a hole in the wall while the two birds left through the window.
Bruno picked up Maddie's dress and placed it next to her explaining that breakfast would be ready soon and then she would be off to school. After Maddie got dressed and had breakfast, she went outside to see the carriage waiting for her. Starscream called her over and helped her in. Just as Maddie was asking why the horses had wings, the carriage suddenly started racing down the path before the flying horses took to the skies, taking the carriage with them. This was new for Maddie and she loved it.
They soon arrived at Royal Prep just as all of the other children from the other kingdoms arrived. When Maddie stepped out of the carriage, she was greeted by a voice coming from above her. It was the fairies who took care of Sleeping Beauty: Flora, Fauna, and Merryweather. Flora welcomed Sofia to Royal Prep while Merryweather explained that the three of them were the headmistresses of the school.
Maddie was happy to be accepted pretty much instantly and explained that she needed to know everything she needed to know before Friday. That's when her Royal Ball is. Flora explained that it would take longer than a few days to learn how to be a Princess. As the Fairies gave Maddie a tour, they explained what she would be learning. How to curtsy, how to give speeches while staying composed, and much, much more.
But the most important thing Maddie had to remember was their school motto: Rule over others as you'd have them rule over you. But it was time for her first class. Flora introduced Maddie to her class. Everyone bowed to Maddie, bidding her good morning. Maddie tried to greet them the same way, only to drop all of her new books on the floor. Three Princes came to her aid and picked up her books. After class, it was break time and Maddie tried to make some new friends.
She walked over to Pippa and her Friends saying hello and introducing herself as Pippa's sister. Pippa corrected her that she was her step-sister. But all of her friends walked up to Maddie and started to talk with her. Pippa walked away and went to her brother who was playing football with his friends. Starscream said hello to his sister. Pippa didn't greet him back saying that Maddie should try the Magic Swing. Starscream wasn't too sure about that.
He reminded her that they needed to make Maddie feel welcome, just like their father told them. But Pippa reminded him that it's how he welcomed every newcomer to the school. Starscream was a little hesitant but ran up to Maddie anyway. Starscream led Maddie away from the Princesses she was talking to and led her to the Magic Swing, explaining what it did. It swings itself so you don't have to put any effort into it.
Maddie was amazed by it and sat down to try it. It did, indeed, swing itself but with a twist. It kept going higher, faster, and more violent in a matter of seconds. It got so violent that it threw Maddie off of the swing and into the fountain. Trying to laugh it off, she admitted that Starscreams joke was a good one. But you could see the regret on his face. He's done this to every new student but he deeply regrets doing this to his new sister.
Meanwhile, Pippa smirked behind her fan, knowing exactly what she made her brother do. A prince tried to help Maddie out of the fountain but she slipped and fell back in. The Prince helped her out, explaining that the first day was always the hardest. He even tried making her feel better by saying that Starscream pulled the same trick on him on his first day. Maddie just left to dry off before the next class.
Starscream tried to stop her to apologies but she already left. Maddie walked away from the school to a little part of the nearby forest. While crossing a bridge, she heard something fall out of a tree. She followed the sound of a tweeting bird to find a mother bird in her nest but no baby. Maddie found the baby on the floor and reunited it with its mother. Not long after the two were reunited, Maddie's amulet started to glow. She looked at it but suddenly had to leave because the bell rang for Maddie's next class.
Maddie said goodbye to the birds and left, just as she heard two voices thanking her. She looked around confused before leaving to go back to class. After school, the three returned to the castle, Maddie still upset by the incident earlier that day. Starscream told Pippa that they should have never pulled that prank on Maddie. Starscream tried to Stop Maddie before she could run off but she was already inside. As Maddie made her way to the stairs, Selena suddenly showed up.
"Princess Maddie! Oh, how was your first day of school, my dear?" Selena asked the young princess
"Tougher than I thought it would be," Maddie said
"Aww... Poor thing," Selena said patting Maddie's head, "Well, then, how would you like a private tour of my lair?" Selena quickly corrected herself, "I mean, workshop. You know, not even the King himself has seen it."
Maddie smiled and decided to follow Selena to her tower. Selena led her up the stairs to the locked door. Selena reached for the toe of one of the gargoyles displayed outside the workshop and opened the toe. Inside was a key to the door. Selena unlocked the door and brought Maddie inside.
"And this, my dear, is where the magic happens," Selena said to Maddie.
She clapped his hands and the candles lit up. As Maddie walked into the room, Diaval cawed at her making her jump back a little.
"Oh, that's just Diaval, my raven. Now, you stop it, Diaval! You're scaring the princess," Selena led Maddie to her desk, "Now, I make all the royal potions right here."
"Wow! This is really neat, Miss Serena," she found the book that the picture of her Amulet is in, "Hey, that looks just like my amulet."
"Well, I'll be a dragon's uncle, you're right. Oh, but if you had the Amulet of Avalor, you'd know, for it contains powerful magic. With each deed performed, for better or worse, a power is granted, a blessing or curse."
"Really?"
"Well, yes, you know, if it's the real amulet. But only a certified sorcerer, such as myself, could tell for sure. If you like, I can take a quick look at it."
"I don't know..."
"Oh, I'll give it right back. I promise!"
"But I promised never to take it off. And my mother says, 'A broken promise can never be glued back together'."
"How irritatingly charming..." Selena knew getting the Amulet would not be that easy, "Oh, well, look at the time. Hope you enjoyed the tour. I know how hard it can be adjusting to royal life. So, if you ever need any help, my door is always..." she slams the door behind Maddie once she left... "open. Ooh! I'll get that amulet."
She took a step forward, but she had caught the hem of her cape in the door. She fell over and grumbled.
