~~~~~
I sat cross legged in front of our small pond on the dark grass, my arm raised and my violin resting against my jaw.
The melody came smoothly as a gentle wind settled itself against my hair, hiding half my features from view. It was a sad melody, slurred and drawn out until the notes reached silence.
The tune hadn't lasted long as I sat creating peace within myself until another's presence arrived next to me.
"That was a nice song," my sisters unusually energetic voice announced and I turned my attention to her while lowering my violin onto my lap.
I raised an inquisitive eyebrow, watching her as she stood in a light outfit and then began to bend over and stretch.
"What are you doing here?" I spoke quietly trying not too sound negative.
"Ive decided it's a lovely day today and I want to exercise." Her cascading red hair was tied at the back of head for once, giving her a younger look than usual.
"Can I ask a question?" Nervously I plucked at the strings of my violin randomly. She stopped for a moment and stood with her hands on her hip, an eyebrow raised.
"What is it?"
I hesitated, I was unsure if I should ask, but I wanted to know.
There'd be no harm done.
I cleared my throat loudly. "Did someone send you a letter yesterday?" I peered at her slyly and watched her face become lined with an expression of distress and a frown.
"Yes...it was from Hansuke."
"Hansuke?" It feels like forever since I had spoken to him.
She nodded and hummed sweeping her hands across her clothes, obviously uncomfortable. I watched curiously, some nervousness leaving me and being replaced with my thoughts.
"He informed me that many Uzumaki have been conspiring against our family on the basis that we have decided to become allies with the Uchiha clan."
"What? What kind of conspiring?"
"Something...to harm us."
"They would harm their own clan?" A ghostly feeling took over me as my face dropped considerably in horror. The reality of hate had started to show itself to me, through my own family.
Are they so blinded? What will we do now?
I was clutching my violin intensely, I'm surprised it hadn't snapped.
"Sister."
I snapped my head to Tomoko who now stood with her back to me but peered over her shoulder at me, her eyes looked dangerous.
"Prepare for the unexpected."
~~~~~

An unwanted flash of light invaded my eyesight as I peered towards my window wearily. The storm outside had began to show its face, stirring a pool of distress inside me. I curled myself into my blankets with a sigh, blocking out the lighting from my view. And then the sound of my bedroom door opening caused me to turn in surprise and see a figure walk to crouch in front of my fireplace.

I carefully sat up and stared at the familiar long haired male curiously whilst he found comfort in front of the raging flames. The scent of rain dwelled in the air, giving the room an earthy but yet comforting smell.

"What seems to have you so late here tonight, Madara?" My tone was as authoritative as I could muster it as I slipped my legs over the side of my bed and untangled myself from my blankets.

Madara tilted his head ever so slightly and watched me as I tightened my thin gown around me and walked over to him. His pale skin glimmered with fresh rain, painting the length of his hollowed cheeks and dark eyelashes softly.

"My clan decided to make a very important decision tonight, involving myself and Izuna." His eyes faced the fire once again whilst he spoke with a tone of voice I had not heard often. It was rough and uneasy, like his heart was struggling to take hold of it. I quickly sat next to him and gazed to his glowing face.

"What happened?"

He took a deep breath, closed his eyes and then spoke quietly, "We have been designated to share the position of the clan head, with myself being the leader."

I blinked in shock and felt my jaw drop.
"Like clan leader? You're in charge of the Uchiha clan now?"

Madara nodded and then wiped a hand down his face with a sigh.

"Is that a bad thing?" I asked skeptically eyeing his seemingly stressed state.

"No...I'm just surprised how quickly it was decided."

"Why did they decide it now?" I turned my body towards him slightly, tilting my head curiously.

"Because of mine and Izuna's new obtained Sharingun powers."

"New powers? What do you mean?"

Madara gave me a smirk and then caught my eyes in his own gaze. I stared frozen as they merged to a blazing red with the familiar 3 spinning patterns to a more defined black pattern. They captivated me strongly raising a shudder of breath from my lips. They prevented me from looking away, it was tremendously powerful and didn't release me until I suddenly felt a rush of control flow back from my head to my toes.

"Whoa..." I blinked to make sure it was real and then smiled widely when I noticed the triumphant expression on Madara's face. He obviously found his power amusing. "So you two are the strongest Uchiha now?"

"I guess so."

The news left a comfortable smile upon my face, it was a great achievement for Madara and his clan. But also dangerous as he would now become an even bigger target.

He seems happy underneath all the stress though...

I bit my lip nervously and fiddled with my dress.

"I have some news as well..." Madara turned his attention to me once again with a soft, thoughtful gaze that made me feel warm inside. I furrowed my eyebrows together in sorrow despite his positive affects, my news was not so happy.

"Hansuke sent a letter to my sister, telling her of a conspiracy he heard that some Uzumaki think my family have become traitors and that we could be in great danger." My quiet announcement caused Madara's eyes to darken under the fires glow, his face an expression of stone making my chest flutter anxiously.

"He believes your family to be in danger then?"

I nodded and nibbled on my bottom lip as the pumping of my heart started to raise. There was an uneasy emotion building inside of me, I was afraid.

"Hey," His palm rested on my shoulder gently as he lifted my chin with his other so that I would look at him. I slowly lifted my eyes to his, trying to focus through the intensifying thump of my heart and the growing pressure in my head. "Everything will be ok, you will be safe."

My eyes glazed over with tears as I held them inside defiantly, breathing unsteady with only the hypnotising eyes of Madara in view, eyes so dark they challenged the night.

"Too much is going on and I don't know my own self anymore Madara." I let a single tear fall, forcing my voice to appear. He sighed lightly, moving his hand from my shoulder to my ear where he looped my hair behind it. And then he learnt towards me slowly until his lips where grazing the side of my jaw and ear. I shivered slightly when his warm breath hit my skin and deep voice spoke.

"Cone with me and we'll discuss this somewhere away from peeping eyes."

My eyes widened a fraction at his words. Had my mother been watching in with her powers? Or perhaps Madara did not trust our words inside such a usually dangerous place for him?

"Alright then," my voice was small and wavy with emotions yet I managed to reply. Madara drew back and rose to his feet, pulling me up by the hand to follow him. I rubbed my eyes with the back of my hand and grabbed my cloak quietly before following him over to my window.

"Shoes," Madara gently said with his back to me. I spun around quickly to spot my shoes that sat near to the fire place and slipped them onto my feet.

"Lets go," he then spoke and motioned for me to jump through the window before he followed and closed it behind him leaving a small gap, wide enough to reopen when we returned.

The air had a soft chilly bite to it that wasn't too harsh thankfully, the rain had settled into a slow drizzle that fell onto the soft clouds of fog that settled silently along the outskirts of the trees and grass.

"There's no storm now," Madara softly spoke, his pale breath freezing in the air as he led me by the hand and jogged towards the tree line. I hummed in response, feeling my nose begin to freeze from the loss of heat and rain line my hair with small droplets.

"Here, this is quicker," he turned towards me and lifted me into his arms surprising me. I held onto his neck as he ran much faster than I ever could through the forest, dying trees flashed past my aware gaze.

It wasn't too long after that a small cabin came into view, I realised that it was one of the significant Uchiha warehouses where ninja would gather once they returned from a battle to recover.

"Here?" I asked quickly.

He nodded, "there's no one here."

"Charming," I smiled.

When we entered the house thanks to Madara's set of keys, I was surprised to see such an orderly room full of beds, crates of supplies and weapons.

"This is awesome," I admired, running my hand along some of the swords that laid in their cases along a table.

"It is an interesting set up indeed." I smiled lightly at his words, it would've been something so mundane to him. The weapons fascinated me though, I had never seen so many in one place.

It wasn't long until Madara spoke to me again, he stood leaning against a table, watching me with a concentrated gaze. I held eye contact with him silently.

"What's on your mind?"

I sighed and turned away, walking over to the window to gaze out of it.

"At the moment the fact that my family is in danger and I will be married off to someone as my fathers wishes."

"Have you talked to him about negotiating?"

"I haven't seen him since I ran away after our argument." I frowned and lowered my head. I felt terrible about the whole ordeal.

"The only options I have are to run away, go along with his wishes or make him so miserable that he doesn't want to bother marrying me off anymore," I sighed lifting a hand to my forehead to massage the stress from it.

"There is one more option."

His voice surprised me, making me stop moving and stare at the floor silently.

"Another option?" I frowned, what could it possibly be?

"Why...don't you just suggest someone for him to pick?"

My heart thumped suddenly as a warm flush travelled to my cheeks.

"What are you getting at Madara?" I turned to face him and in a single moment he was standing a mere breath from me. The air was silent as the action sent rippling chills across my skin and parted my lips in surprise.

There was barely any space between us as he stared down at my face, eyes focusing across my skin as the breath was stolen from my lungs, his chest almost touching my own.

His voice was low when he spoke, vibrating softly. "Ask your father...if he has considered me." He watched me calmly with his eyes, but my own widened as my heart thumped strongly in my chest.

"You're serious?" I stuttered weakly, searching his face nervously as his palm reached slowly and brushed a lock of hair behind my ear.

"Of course I am." The tense air around us sent goosebumps along my body. "You know, there's no way you haven't thought about the possibility at least once," he remarked and dug his thumbs into my hips gently. Adrenaline fluttered along my skin. I lifted my eyes to his own for a moment, it's true I had thought about it but I couldn't bring myself to believe Madara would ever think of it.

"Have you always liked me?" I had to ask, the thought was killing me slowly, whether I realise it or not.

He lowered his head and closed his eyes. "I always have Tomomi, you've just never taken notice if it." I felt a sting in my heart at his words.

I lowered my eyes to his chest then, I could only dream of such an idea. My palm dragged its way to the centre of his chest, softly sliding my finger tips down the deep crevasses. The action stirred Madara with a deep outlet of air and I found myself being slowly pushed backwards until my back rested against the wall next to the illuminated window.

I lifted my head to stare directly to his eyes as he towered over me.

"You would ask of this because you want me truly?" I tilted my head and let my words fall from my tongue lightly, afraid of making too much noise.

"Truly," he breathed out, eyes as hypnotising as they could possibly become.

"And you really want me to ask my father for this possibility?"

"Tomomi, please." Madara rolled his face into my neck, his hair softly tickled my skin. I moved my hands around to his shoulder blades, softly feeling his muscles flex. He sighed deeply as I leant forward and tightened my grip on him, momentarily burying my head into his shoulder. He smelt slightly like smoke, as it would from the extensive hours of fire jutsu and home wood fires, it made me smile a little, it was comforting.

Did I love Madara enough for this?

The thought sent a shiver throughout my whole being as the realisation flooded my mind.

These are emotions that I buried a long time ago.

Memories of tears filled my head and my body felt heavy. Those nights where I had convinced myself I didn't like him, where I told myself he would never like me. It was impossible with our clans, our whole friendship was impossible.

Yet here we were.

Of course, I was in love with Madara.

"I'll ask him." I whispered, moving my hands down to his chest now. He lifted his head now being face to face with me. My heartbeat seemed to stutter when I stared into his deep, black eyes and saw my own reflection, I hardly recognised myself.

"Good...and thank you," Madara muttered, his lips were so close to mine that they almost brushed when he spoke. "I won't let anything happen to you, I promised remember?" I smiled softly, feeling him graze his lips this time against mine sending a small jolt of excitement down my body.

I lightly placed a palm on his jaw as he finally caught my bottom lip between his and gently pulled at it with his teeth. I closed my eyes arching my neck slightly up as he let go and placed his lips against my own jaw.

"We're in dangerous territory now Tomomi," he remarked in a low voice, a shiver went down to my toes as his breath tickled my ear. I held in a gasp when he suddenly placed his knee between my legs and rested his hands against the wall beside my head. "Anything could happen."

I stared into his eyes determined, "I don't care."

He smirked, eyes turning red before he captured my lips once again and pressed himself closer.

My breath came forced and loud, trying to cling to any control that remained within me. But it was slowly disappearing every second I felt the pressure of Madara's body against my own and the unspoken words that dwelled in the air. My wrists met the wall as Madara braced them there making my skin crawl with excitement. I had waited all these years, for this unrealised need to flourish and it had now hit me unforgivingly and passionately.

"Tomomi," Madara muttered lightly, releasing one of my wrists and lifting my chin to stare into my eyes as he spoke. I placed my hand on his stomach, slowly trailing it down towards the hem of his shirt. He smirked and wrapped his other hand around my back, holding me in my place. "Tomomi Uzumaki, will you marry me?" His quiet and seductive voice sent a shiver through my whole body as the reality of his words crashed through me like a tidal wave. I couldn't suppress the tear lined smile that graced my cheeks as I let out a small laugh.

I leaned my self forward, wrapping my arms around his strong neck and pressing my forehead against his own. I whispered when I spoke, letting my lips linger over his own lightly.

"Yes."
