38. Finale
hey so- heres the thing.
i'm feeling a little bit emotional, because this is the last 'chapter' of this story. ♡
thank you all for enjoying this journey with me.
there will be an epilogue maybe!!
I started writing this in 2015, when I was 15years old, so its been a while. I'm an adult now. I've changed a lot mentally and had struggles so I was away from writing for a while. But I'm really proud of myself for pursuing my goal to finish this story. I'm not a type of person to finish a project quickly.
-So thank you, for your lovely comments to me and about the story!
I love you ♡
Here we go~
~~~
It was midday when Tomomi found her eyes starting to peel open, her consciousness rising. It took her a while to wake up completely, the warmth that enveloped her body kept her in a state of comfortable bliss. Who didn't love a warm bed?
Tomomi definitely loved her warm bed right now. She had Madara's arms cocooned around her, her cheek squished against his arm. She found herself burying her head deeper, slipping off his arm into the pillow instead. With a sigh, she opened her eyes and squinted at the afternoon light that shone through their open window.
3 weeks.
It had been 3 weeks since the wedding and the incident.
That was the first thing that came to her mind that morning.
The second thing she thought was how thirsty she was, her mouth dry and throat screaming for water. She went to slide out of her blankets, rolling awkwardly across the mattress. Madara's arm slid around her back and pulled her into his warm chest.
"Where do you think you're going?"
Tomomi giggled when Madara's breathy tone cut through the silence. Of course she had been waiting for Madara to stop pretending to sleep, like always. He'd probably been awake for hours, too comfortable to get up.
"I'm thirsty," Tomomi groaned, pushing Madara away weakly. Screeching she squirmed when he poked his fingers into her armpits. "We slept too long!"
"Time isn't real," Madara finally opened his eyes, giving Tomomi a peek of his Sharingan. When was there ever a time he didn't have his red eyes showing? Tomomi sometimes missed his inky black gaze.
Tomomi's eyes thinned as she squinted at him, finally escaping his embrace and rolling off the bed to her feet. "Don't forget they're making a decision about Jiro today! You're supposed to be there!" After she yelled the words she ran out of the room leaving a groaning Madara face first into the bed.
Jiro.
That disgusting creature.
His fate would be decided today.
Frankly, Madara didn't care what happened to the man, as long as he never had to see him again. He didn't want to attend the meeting either. Hashirama was Hokage now, he could figure it out with his advisors.
To mostly everyone's preference, he had been appointed as Hokage for his abilities with healing and his unique Wood techniques. Maybe Madara felt a little jealous, a little resentment that the Uchiha had been overlooked. A little alienated ever since the Senju became the leaders of the village.
What made him even more uncomfortable was the fact that Tobirama had become Hashirama's advisor. Another Senju. Madara felt like he had no place among them anymore. Yet Tomomi kept telling him, "your time will come, lets enjoy our time for now." He could only handle so much time with Tobirama before bad thoughts would begin to fill his head.
Madara appreciated Tomomi's words. She was right. Not being Hokage or an advisor meant there was more time he could spend with those he cared about. He didn't have to worry about the entire village being his responsibility to look after. It was selfish maybe, but if he was meant to lead everyone, he would have been made Hokage already. So he took it all on the chin.
One day, he kept telling himself.
Of course, that still meant he was head of the Uchiha clan. Konoha wouldn't be able to break clan hierarchy that easy, and he was still incredibly valuable as the one who would represent the Uchiha clan and be their voice inside these populated meetings.
"I just want to sleep all day," Madara tried to soothe his overthinking mind by pulling the blanket over his head. He had to attend the meeting.
~~~~~
Jiro Uzumaki sat on the wooden floor with multiple chains and seals on his arms and legs, blinded by a blindfold covering his eyes. Around him sat a room full of people, mostly clan leaders with the Hokage and his party lingered together.
Amongst them Madara Uchiha observed from within the background, shoulders leant against the wall whilst his head tilted up as he stared down at the chained man through his lashes. He didn't want to be there at all. But he was glad that Jiro could not see him, he didn't want to stare into those disturbed eyes. Stolen eyes.
A great silence filled the room, Hashirama was sitting with his hands folded together, lips pouted in thought. The fate of Jiro was in his hands now.
"Ahem," he pulled himself up straight, gaining the faded attention of every person in the room once again. Then he spoke.
"After much discussion with others, including my advisor Tobirama, we can all agree that this goal of yours focuses widely around the person of Tomomi Uzumaki. Am I correct, Jiro Uzumaki?"
At the mention of her name, Madara froze, while Jiro smirked weakly. It fueled the fire in Madara's heart. It wasn't a wicked smirk, although it held some nature of amusement in it. That's why it pissed Madara off. Jiro found something funny.
"You are correct, Hokage," came Jiro's hoarse reply. "Although her name is Tomomi Uchiha now."
He sounded weak and tired, which was expected for someone who had been locked up for weeks and interrogated nearly constantly. They wanted to soak up every bit of information he held inside his twisted mind.
Madara couldn't understand why it had taken this long for them to finally decide his fate. If he were in charge, he would've taken one interrogation, found him guilty, and disposed off him. But of course, he wasn't in charge. Hashirama was in charge.
"Tomomi Uchiha," Hashirama confirmed. "She was innocent, yet you pursued her as a target." He closed his eyes. "Your reason being, 'you wished to kill that she loved, Madara Uchiha'." Hashirama paused, his gaze found Madara's curious stare. "We have then decided that he, Madara Uchiha will be the one that decides your fate. Jiro Uzumaki."
Immediately the room erupted into whispers and murmurs, and Madara was frozen to the spot gawking at Hashirama. Had he heard him correctly? He decides?
"Could you all be quiet."
At his words, the room silenced once again before Hashirama. He sighed, closing his eyes briefly to catch his thoughts.
"Madara, head of the Uchiha clan, I request your presence if I may."
All eyes turned to the man, who stood like a deer caught by its predator. His fists were shaking beneath his sleeves. He flinched when venomous laughter softly filled his ears.
Jiro had slouched over, laughing before them. "I wouldn't have expected this Hokage. You are unpredictable it seems."
"Now is not your turn for speaking," Hashirama answered shortly.
Madara pushed himself off the wall, and strolled to the great space in the middle of the room. He faced Hashirama, and gave him a hard stare as if to say, "why the hell didn't you tell me this earlier?"
"Thank you Madara," Hashirama softly said, almost apologetically.
"You're welcome, Hashirama," Madara bit his lip, and spun on his foot to Jiro's form. With a couple of steps he was towering over him, arms crossed against his chest that beat quickly and nervously. He wasn't expecting to be part of this at all. Yet, he took a deep breath, then addressed the room.
"I must say I am surprised, that I would be deciding this criminals fate. Therefore I must say one thing."
When his hand clutched Jiro's jaw, the guard Souta flinched, but didn't stop Madara who crouched to his level.
"If you ever," Madara seethed, fingers digging into his skin deeply, "ever, come near Tomomi again, I will bury you alive."
When Jiro smiled this time, his teeth slid out from beneath his chapped lips. "What makes you think I am interested in your pet anymore, Madara?" His words were almost a whisper. "It's always been you I've wanted to be near to this entire time."
"Are you satisfied right now? You're despicable," Madara was shaking.
"I'm awaiting my fate. Won't you be so kind and hurry up and give it to me."
With that Madara threw his chin away roughly, standing to his feet. He tried to mask his discomfort, his anger. But he couldn't help the growl in his chest sink into his words when he spoke again.
"I have decided that Jiro Uzumaki will be imprisoned and his chakra sealed."
An execution seems too easy.
"As you wish Lord Madara." Hashirama bowed his head.
"You should just kill me." Jiro laughed painfully.
"I want you to think about how I have defeated you, as you sit in chains." With those last words, a stressed Madara made a path through the crowd, and left the room. He needed to leave. He couldn't stand being in the same room as Jiro anymore.
Everyone let him go, Hashirama nodded to his guards and they lifted Jiro up around his arms from the ground, pushing him to his feet. Hashirama was surprised by Madara's decision, but nonetheless, it was finally over. He was relieved that he was not the one making the decision.
~~~~~
At the end of the day, hours later- it had been a short day after all since they had both woken up late- Tomomi and Madara found themselves surrounded by their family and close friends.
Hansuke sat next to Tomomi, slightly drunk, hugging her arm. "Have a drink with me Tomomi! To a happy future!" Tomomi found herself covering her nose as his sour breath hit her face.
"Hansuke slow down! You're already drunk!" She slapped his arm, trying to get him to put down his cup with an amused giggle. He was hilarious tonight.
"Remind us to never let him drink again," Tomomi's father Atsushi murmured to Madara as he sat to his side. Madara watched Tomomi and Hansuke with a soft gaze across from them.
They all had their own little groups, Tomomi, Hansuke and Yui sitting side by side. Madara, Atsushi and Madara's father sat together. And then off to the side Tomomi's mother Manami, Aunt Hana and Madara's mother Airi sat.
It was a comfortable evening indeed. The stresses of the past few weeks and months were finally floating away. Madara felt happier. Jiro was finally taken care of, Konoha was built, him and Tomomi were married. Everything had fallen into place. He was forever grateful for how it had turned out.
He just wished Izuna was there to witness it all. Madara wished that Izuna could have seen things as he did now, clearer, peaceful. His heart ached for him.
As did Tomomi's own heart for her sister, Tomoko. She missed her painfully each day. Late at night she would often find herself curled up in Madara's arms, tears invading her sleep as she craved her presence. She was starting to learn how to live without her there, but it wasn't easy. She hoped one day she would see her smiling face again.
During the past weeks they had a new memorial built for both Izuna and Tomoko. It was beautiful, Tomomi found herself visiting it often, leaving pretty flowers and sitting to talk about what she had been doing and how happy she was being married to Madara. About how she never believed such a dream could come true.
Her dumb childhood crush on the Uchiha hadn't gone to waste. It truly was magical.
"Tomomi dear, when you have children, make sure you teach them not to drink themselves stupid!" Tomomi choked on her spit, eyes widening as she stared at Aunt Hana who had spoken.
I am not having this conversation right now.
Madara cheeks were red when she flicked her eyes towards him in embarrassment.
"I want 5 grandkids!" Manami giggled, linking arms with Airi who was smiling until her eyes disappeared. They all had an alcoholic glow to their skin. Tomomi hid her face in Hansuke's shoulder, silently cursing.
"You and Madara better get busy," Hansuke chuckled, throwing his head back down the leftovers of his drink. Tomomi sunk even deeper away to hide.
"I think, I'm going to go to sleep. I'm exhausted after today," Madara stood up, awkwardly bowing to Atsushi and his father who smirked at him. He avoided their gaze. He instead looked at Tomomi, who peeked her eyes up at the sound of his voice, and then he beckoned her with a turn of his head.
Willingly, Tomomi got the message and untangled herself from Hansuke, rushing to Madara's side. She smiled tightly at everyone, linking arms with him.
"I think I'm going to go as well, goodnight everyone!"
Snickers followed as well as clumsy goodnights as they left the house, stepping out into the chilly night air. The stars shone brightly as Tomomi pulled her coat tighter around her shoulders, staring up at the full gleaming moon.
Madara watched as his breathing appeared before him when he exhaled, the warmth invading the cold dark. He shivered and pulled Tomomi closer to him by the waist making her hum with a laugh.
"They were about to drive me nuts," he complained, bringing both his arms to settle around her back as he stared down at her, rocking them both side to side gently.
"Me too," she whispered back, sliding her feet onto Madara's toes. Madara smiled playfully and began to waddle them both away from the house. Tomomi yelped and grabbed him around the neck, he was walking them home. Their giggles echoed throughout the night.
"Warm bed," Tomomi face planted onto the mattress when they finally found themselves inside the peace of their home.
"Warm body," Madara added, falling beside her and pulling her on top of him with very little effort.
"I'm your blanket now," Tomomi whispered into his neck and she wrapped herself around him. He hummed, content.
When she lifted her head up again, Madara had already found her gleeful eyes. She stroked his cheek softly, happy to find his Sharingan gone instead, replaced by his beautiful black eyes she loved so well.
"Thank you," she tentatively spoke, her fingers gliding up to stroke his untied long hair. He slid his palms up her back, holding her gently.
"For what?" He enquired, tilting his head.
She smiled in annoyance, hating that she had to explain herself further to him. "You know what," she brought their noses together, bumping them. Madara's chest jumped when he laughed, grinning.
"Were you embarrassed?" He questioned.
"Yes, and so were you." She accused, poking his cheek in a cute motion. Tomomi found it funny how Madara looked with a dimple in his cheek.
"I won't argue with that, it's true I was embarrassed."
"We can't have the big bad Madara Uchiha being embarrassed now can we? That would be disastrous."
"You're mean," Madara pinched her side making her yelp and jump off of him. He dived for her, pinning her onto her back while she tried to defend herself from his sudden onslaught of tickle attacks.
"I'm sorry!" Tomomi squealed, wiggling and laughing at the merciless game. Madara did stop time this time, for once.
He pressed their foreheads together, and closed his eyes. Tomomi huffed in recovery, and grinned. "Softie." All Madara could think was how lucky he was.
"I sure am," he replied, opening his eyes and lifting up his head. "Only for you."
"I know," Tomomi answered.
Her hand found its way to his face, and slowly she traced his lips with her fingers. She slid them down to his bottom lip, until it flicked down with the pressure of her fingertips.
As soon as her fingers left, Madara replaced them with her lips, kissing her urgently. She smiled into the kiss, winding her arms around his neck as he pressed them closer together.
This was her favourite place to be. In the arms of the person she loved, protected from the rest of the world. Her thoughts filled only of him, and his of hers.
Together they felt alive, like they rule the entire world. And maybe one they could, it would all depend on their decisions.
I love you's filled Tomomi's head before she fell asleep, and of course, she found them living inside her dream as well.
She really had never felt more in love with Madara Uchiha than now.
