"Are you ready to go back now?"
I heard Madara let out a strained sigh as he stared at the dazzling stars. We had been walking and talking for a while, the lake outside of the village was truly a beautiful sight. As the sky reflected along the still water, it magnified its glory.
"Sure," he finally whispered, bowing his head.
When we weaved our way back into the celebration, I suddenly felt overwhelmed with awe.
People danced together, their bodies flowing effortlessly next to each other's. There was a sea of colours floating, illuminated by the stars and lantern fire. The sound of drums and melodies carried along the wind, embracing every fibre of my body.
"May I have the honour?" Madara held out his hand to me, a warm smile on his lips. I couldn't contain the grin appearing on my cheeks, his mood had improved.
"You may."
He led me between the crowd, creating our own space. Then he pulled me closer, his arm around my waist and other hand clutching my own palm lazily.
I sighed, bracing my hand and head on his shoulder as we swayed. I felt weightless as the motion and sound around me started to blur. My body was buzzing.
"Everything will be alright Tomomi," Madara muttered next to my head softly.
"With you with me it always will be," I retorted, smiling. He embraced me closer so that I was practically standing on his feet as he continued to sway us. My heart fluttered with warmth.
It was relaxing however crowded the grounds were, it felt as though we were the only ones ironically. The world could have ended in that moment and I would have been completely content. But I had to do something more important first.
"I'm going to talk to Hashirama," I told him, hugging him tightly. He gave a slight groan of irritation, but nodded against my head.
"Fine, you'll be lucky if he changes his mind."
"Then I must try at least," I smiled lightly, pulling away. "I'll see you later," don't do anything dangerous," his hand lingered in mine before I pushed through the moving crowd.
Hashirama sat on his own, under a large decorated tree surrounded by cushions and small tables of food and drink. He noticed me approaching him, and lifted his cup to me with a grin. The air smelt strongly of alcohol.
"Miss Tomomi, what a pleasure!" I frowned, bowing my head.
"Lord Hashirama I have a serious matter to discuss."
"Ah...concerning Madara I suspect?" He crossed his legs, his perky expression faltering. "I understand your concern but this is the best course of action for the development of our village."
I sighed lowering my head before meeting his gaze again, crossing my arms in front of me sternly.
"With all due respect...I think you're wrong." He smiled faintly, brushing his long brown hair over his shoulder.
"My dear Miss Tomomi, you never were one to follow others ideas."
"I don't think you're realising the impact your decision will have on people Hashirama." He lifted his eyebrows inquisitively.
"How so?"
"You're denying the Uchiha any part in creating this village, therefore also any allied clans that are with the Uchiha. That doesn't give a very good impression on this 'unity' thing."
"It is merely about what is most convenient dear," he waved his hand at me, and took another sip of his drink.
"They will feel betrayed Hashirama, they will grow contempt for your kind before they even set foot in the new village." I clenched my fists slightly, I was getting a little angry.
"This is hardly a reason to be upset,"
"What if it were the Uchiha doing this? Wouldn't you feel as if you and your people are not apart of this? You're just left behind deemed not necessary?" He frowned, looking away from me momentarily.
"The Senju know their worth,"
"Why can't you show the Uchiha worth as well...while you push the Uchiha away, you push away also your friends...you push Madara away, you push me away." I stared at him expectantly, wishing he would see how serious this was. He froze for a second and observed me, dark eyes shimmering in the fire light.
"I'm sorry Tomomi if this has upset you,"
"It's too late for sorry Hashirama, change your damn plans and include everyone! I'm tired of discussing this now," I closed my eyes and turned away.
"She's right brother," I felt someone speak right in front of me.
"Tobirama?" He stared at Hashirama with a slight glare who was behind me.
"I will not allow the Uchiha to sit on their lazy asses whilst we build the village by ourselves, if they wish to live in it they must also contribute to it,"
"Not exactly what I was implying but ok," I muttered.
"Tell Madara the Uchiha will be helping," Tobirama said once more then sat next to his brother with an uninterested stare.
He reminds me of Madara.
"Brother? What changed your mind..." Hashirama's question faded into silence as something behind me caught his attention. I turned in interest.
Then I gasped, two women were fighting, fists clashing. One was an Uchiha and another a Senju, and it was clear the Uchiha woman was trying to defend herself.
It shocked me to see a mass crowded around them and they scratched, pulled and grabbed at each other.
Nobody's breaking them up?
"You've got to be kidding," I muttered to myself before rushing foreword, pushing past the crowd.
I ran up behind the Senju woman and wrapped my arms around her, restraining her arms.
She struggled with cries of anger, pulling against me as I pulled her backwards away.
"Stop," I yelled at her as she tried hitting me with her head.
"I will kill her!" She screamed back, gritting her teeth.
"No you will not, now stop this at once!" I growled in response, tightening my hold.
I watched the Uchiha woman opposite us as she stared, she had tears in her eyes and a face of regret. A man rushed to her side, comforting her as he examined her injuries.
The woman I held stopped struggling finally, and I led her through the crowd by the arm.
"Why were you fighting?" I immediately questioned, trying to sound as concerned as possible. She huffed in response throwing her hands in the air.
"Because her kind killed my loved one! I will never have him again, and I will never forgive her people." She ran her hands through her messy brown hair, whatever it had looked like at beginning of the night, it was unrecognisable now.
"The Uchiha?"
"Who else? They're evil." She said it like it was the most obvious thing in the world. I didn't agree so much.
"I'm sure that woman has lost people of her own as well, you didn't need to single her out," I countered sadly.
"They're all a curse."
"So she deserves to die? When you're supposed to be celebrating unity finally?" It probably wasn't the best idea, but I wanted her to feel a little guilty for her actions.
"I guess...I shouldn't have lashed out." She rubbed her hands together, they were quite red, especially the knuckles.
"What is your name? I am Tomomi Uzumaki."
"Mara Senju, I'm guessing you're the Tomomi Uzumaki, Madara Uchiha's fiancé." She crossed her arms and looked to the sky.
"I am, sorry if that is inconvenient." I answered quieter.
"You're my kin," she pointed at herself, "although I don't understand what you see in him."
"He's been my best friend since we were children," I muttered softly.
"You know him best then," she sighed, rubbing her forehead.
"I'd hope," I smiled.
"I would like to go home," she then said.
"I can walk you there if you'd like?" She smiled lightly in response.
"Thank you, its a couple of blocks away."
We didn't talk much on the way there, only the occasional joke or comment on the scenery.
"I must thank you for saving me from doing something I'd regret," Mara finally said as she approached the door to her house.
"No one else seemed bothered to stop it," I commented, frowning.
"At least someone cared enough."
"I'll see you again Mara,"
"Goodbye Tomomi, thank you again."
I'm glad she didn't completely hate me.
Walking back to the party I realised how much I didn't want to go back. Socialising never was my strong point, and the thought of having to stick around and force enjoyment exhausted my mind already.
I let out a massive breath of relief as I leaned against the side of a building. The stars were hard to see tonight due to the glare of fire light in the festival, so I stood staring at the blurry sky, trying to find peace within it.
"My lovely, lonely Tomomi."
I froze, slowly turning my head towards a silhouette next to me. Their voice was disturbingly familiar.
Then they shot closer, I jumped back in fright as my arm was grabbed into their tight grip.
"Boo."
I snarled, pulling my arm away.
"What do you want, Jiro?"
He came even closer, cornering me against the wall. I felt the hairs raise on my arms as he leant over me, his hand on the wall trapping me.
"Kill him," he whispered, leaning his head next to my own.
"Never."
"It only takes a couple of seconds,"
"Get away from me," I growled, pushing my arms out between us. He grabbed them and pushed me up against the wall suddenly. I struggled in panic.
"You cannot order me about Tomomi," he seethed, his breath rushing against my ear, I yelled in distress and tried to move my legs but they were also held back by him.
"Madara will die, and his blood will cover you," I shuddered in fear, one of his hands traced the length of my chest and stomach.
"Let go!" I yelled much louder, my voice breaking. "I will never hurt him."
He then leant back and stared at me with a malicious smile. "Is that a promise?"
With as much force as I could muster and closing my eyes for the inevitability of pain, I rammed my forehead against his nose.
He yelped and his grip on me faltered to hold his nose, which gave me the opportunity to push him off and strike my foot right into his balls.
As expected he dropped, yelling in pain. I ran, eyes wide with panic towards the lights of the festival.
"Someone help!" I screamed with a tight throat. As I ran I clutched a wooden pole into my grasp that was leant against a building.
Not the best weapon but it's something.
"If you don't kill him, I'll kill him myself!" Jiro announced behind me in the distance before I heard a soft whizzing noise.
I gasped and dived to the ground, narrowly missing a blade that sunk into the dirt in front of me. Quickly I rolled over to it and grabbed its handle getting into a defensive stance. I had no idea where my wooden pole had rolled off to.
Before I could make a move, Jiro appeared into the light of the street lanterns. He readied his sword, it blared with chakra, I swallowed harshly.
"You're going to kill me huh? How boring," my face lit up when I heard Madara's deep voice from within the darkness.
Jiro spun around frantically, his face clearly shocked.
"Show yourself!" He yelled, slashing his blade through the air fiercely.
"Ok," came his reply and a pair of dazzling red eyes shone from within the darkness.
A moment later Jiro dropped to the floor, his head smacking the dirt. I let out a huge breath, lowering my sword.
Madara then came into the light, he walked over to Jiro's body and kicked him onto his back where he then planted his foot on his chest harshly. He did not look happy.
"Did he hurt you?" He asked quietly.
"No," I replied, stepping towards him.
"Stop," Madara answered firmly. I stopped immediately, staring at him frozen. "We don't know what we're dealing with and I don't want to put you near him again." His eyes met mine briefly. I nodded and Madara formed a clone.
"I don't know how he found me," I muttered, rubbing my arm in discomfort. I shouldn't have wondered alone.
"I'm sending Hashirama a message," he spoke again, and the clone ran off towards the party.
"Can he wake up?" I asked, trying to stable my breathing.
"No, not by himself."
"Do you think he was watching me all night?"
"I don't doubt it, he found an opportunity to isolate you," I cringed.
"Just what are we dealing with?" I asked sadly, lowering my gaze to Jiro's unconscious state.
Madara reached down and roughly grabbed the mans shirt collar, then started to walk towards me dragging Jiro who slid across the dirt.
"Cocky bastards."
