~~~~~
Last night father came home late and went straight to his room. I didn't dare bother him but instead carried on my way.
Today, early this morning, he left again and said he would be at the Uchiha compound. I'm worried that fathers plans are starting to take action, and the fact that he has not discussed any of it with the rest of the family.
I sighed, I was sitting in front of my mirror dresser. I was informed that Madara had some important training to do today, so I could not get his help with my chakra affinities.
Mother was busy collecting materials so that she could give to me and I could begin studying on the Uzumaki clan. She said that they would have to be transported from Uzushiogakure and that could take some time. I don't mind really, its been a few days since I've been free to do as I wish.
I wonder where Tomoki is?
I hadn't seen my sister since yesterday. So as far as I was concerned, I was home alone today.
The house was peaceful now that it only held my presence. I decided that I would take action and find out what my fathers schemes were.
My eyes narrowed as I determinedly strutted to Atsushi's office. Usually skeptical to be called to his room, this time I was confident and ready as I grabbed the door edge and gently opened it.
The room was vacant as I entered it and closed the door behind me. The low, long black desk was in its normal position, placed in the middle of the room. Expensive paintings hung from the walls, and a beautiful portrait of my father wearing the Uzumaki robes proudly sat on the centre back wall. This room was forbidden to me. It seemed too important.
This is not the time for cowardliness.
I scolded myself, shaking my head lightly in annoyance. Taking a step I watched as my bare foot poked out from under my dress and landed onto the soft floor. My quiet trotting caused goosebumps to raise on my skin as I made my way to the small desk.
On the desk my eyes caught a piece of paper that had messy writing on it. I dared not touch the note but instead leaned towards it to read it.
Atsushi,
Regarding Tomoko Uzumaki, arrangements will be made and you will give your decision.
T.
I stopped and covered my mouth preventing any noise to come out. Why was Tomoko involved in this? This made me very confused and slightly angry at my father for this secrecy.
I better leave now.
Carefully, I backed away from the table.
All will be revealed with time Tomomi, I scolded myself as I walked back to the door. Closing my eyes I sighed and grabbed the dull handle and opened it.
A figure was in front me making me yell in shock. It was Tomoko.
"Tomomi." She spoke in a blank voice. I lifted my eyes to her own in embarrassment.
"Yes?" I squeaked stepping forward and sliding the door shut behind my back. She sighed in amusement.
"I need to know what father is planning for me." Tomoko said in my surprise. "I want you to help me." A grin suddenly filled my cheeks.
"You're serious?" I widened my eyes in excitement. Tomoko nodded making me clap my hands together.
"But not today...I need to attend some business. I will see you soon, sister." I frowned as she turned and walked away.
"Wait!"
She stopped when I suddenly yelled out. Watching me over her shoulder curiously she ushered me to continue. I gulped remembering what I had discovered.
"Father is planning something with someone signed as 'T', most likely Tajima Uchiha? That is all I know."
She nodded her head slowly, her gaze seemed distracted. A soft wind made its way through the hallway causing the air to grow cold. I watched her as she disappeared around the corner of the hallway, leaving me alone once again.
Why is she always so distant.
It was around one week after my Fathers big announcement to the Uchiha when things started getting complicated. Winter was approaching, the wood fires were lit and bed spreads thickened. Tomoko had not been around for some time confusing me and at the current moment my father stood in front of me with a young man next to him. I didn't know the man, he didn't look familiar at all.
"Tomomi, meet Hansuke." Atsushi spoke with a gentle smile. I politely smiled at the stranger, hiding my confusion.
"How do you do Mr Hansuke?" Hansuke didn't reply, only nodded his head respectfully.
"Hansuke is from now on going to be watching over you, Tomomi."
"Really?"
"It is what I wish, Tomomi please cooperate." Fathers tone was pleading almost, I was surprised to be honest. Nonetheless I obeyed him.
"As you will Father." Atsushi nodded his head with content, I had to trust him here. Father then told me he had important business to attend to and that I was to show Hansuke around the house a bit. I decided to get to the real reason Hansuke was here.
"So where are you from Hansuke?" He looked slightly uncomfortable suddenly being left alone with me, his eyes held a sort of forced concentration.
"A small village called Sai."
"Oh, interesting." I nodded. "Hansuke, do you enjoy music?"
"I guess, why?"
"Would you like to listen to something I've put together myself?"
"Ah, so you're a composer?" He gave an impressed smile, his brown eyes glimmering.
"You could say that." I bashfully lowered my head. "Well follow me!" He followed as I quickly skipped to my room.
"So this is my room." I explained as I motioned for him to enter.
He hummed and walked up to my ajar window. "You shouldn't leave this open when you're not present." He stuck his head out of it for a moment.
"What exactly are you meant to do for me?" I suddenly questioned narrowing my eyebrows.
Is he my trainer or something?
"Your Father Atsushi has appointed me with the job of being your personal guard."
"Personal guard?"
"Yes, because you are not fully ready or trained in defending yourself, your father needs you protected...I'm sorry if you ever find me intruding, but I must obey Master Astushi's orders."
"So you're like a ninja?"
"Yes."
"Could you...help me find my chakra nature." I pouted as I looked up at him through my eyelashes.
"If that is what you would like." He awkwardly scratched his cheek.
"We can be friend's ya know, we look about the same age." I grinned when he widened his eyes. "Lets get to know each other shall we, sit." I laughed quietly and made him sit on my bed as I crawled to the middle of it.
"Okay, a-hem." I faked coughed into my hand and neatly sat in front of his awkward figure.
"Hello, my name is Tomomi Uzumaki, I am 17 years old almost 18 I can play the violin quite well and am starting to compose my own songs. I also like being outside and joking around. What I don't like is when you have a nice cup of brewed tea and the tea leaves are left inside the bottom, yuck. They taste really bad when you eat them-oops its your turn!" I laughed embarrassed and looked at Hansuke.
Shut up Tomomi.
I stared waiting for Hansuke as he looked like he was still taking in all the information.
"Ok...hello Tomomi, my name is Hansuke Uzumaki and I am around 22 years old. I am very good at water jutsu, which is when I use my chakra and use water to fight. I don't like cold weather and I would really like to listen to your compositions." I was slightly surprised when he mentioned he was an Uzumaki as well.
"Oh, you reminded me!" I yelled and jumped from the bed causing him to laugh.
My violin was neatly set against my dresser and I smiled as I spun to face Hansuke with it on my shoulder.
"Okay, tell me what you think." I said seriously and nervously began to play. Hansuke seemed like he was enjoying it as he was smiling lightly and staring at my fingers. I hit a wrong note and groaned quietly, but kept playing until the end of the song.
"That was excellent!" Hansuke raised clapping his hands loudly. "I loved the melody, it sounded sad but redeeming."
"That was what I was aiming for." I grinned placing the violin back into its spot and joining Hansuke back on he bed.
"Hey, what would you do if I decided to train more and become a stronger ninja."
Hansuke didn't answer for a moment.
"I think if that's what you wish you should, but don't assume anything will get easier from then on."
I nodded. He's right. Father would probably disapprove, but mother is already going to help me.
"Tomomi, its almost noon and its time I do my first patrol." Hansuke spoke ending my thought phase.
"Oh, when will I see you again? Dinner perhaps?"
"Might do, goodbye Tomomi."
"Goodbye Hansuke." I smiled happily and watched him as he walked to my door.
"I pray we will enjoy each other's company like this from days to come." He said sincerely and waved closing the door behind him.
I sighed. What is going to happen now I wonder?
Father is planning to become allies with the Uchiha. I have a personal guard. I've befriended my personal guard. Tomoko's been away from home almost a full week and mother is going to teach me her skills.
Tap tap.
I jumped in surprise as something knocked on my windowsill. I cautiously turned around only to see a small bird that looked like an eagle or something sitting on the wooden pane. I frowned, what the heck?
Shrugging I slowly walked towards the bird. It didn't seem frightened or in fact even aware that I was approaching it.
Seriously, what the heck?
I reached out to it and just as my fingers brushed against it, it made a puffing noise and popped. In it's place was left slight smoke, but beneath that was a pile of thick books.
Books?
I thought confused. Usually if it was something important it would be in a scroll. But these were thick leather books. They looked very heavy to.
On the cover of the top one was a ripped piece of paper.
Tomomi,
Read these and learn,
Love Mother.
The books, they arrived! I smiled brightly and clutched the closest bundle to my chest in happiness. These books were special to the Uzumaki. They explained our chakra natures, jutsu, life force and history. I was more that excited, I was literally jumping for joy as I hastily ran from the sill and over to my bed. I plonked them on it, conscious that they should be treated with respect and quietly closed my window.
What first...I eagerly ran my finger over ones front before flipping the page over. Inside, written in fancy writing it said-
The art of Taijutsu.
Written by Elder Atoshi Uzumaki.
Uncle Atoshi wrote this?
I was slightly confused as I had never expected him to write a book. I shrugged, beginning to read the next contents. It was all a bore, explaining where the earliest use of Taijustu came from. People used a thing called Karate before Taijustu was invented. I was confused as to why chakra was not mentioned in the chapters about Karate.
Maybe I should learn Taijustu? Then I could beat Madara up when he makes fun of me.
By the end of the first 3 chapters, I had just about down pat how to spell the words Taijutsu, appropriation and tradition. I was starting to get bored, but a single sentence caught my interest.
Taijustu, which is fused with controlled chakra, can be a deadly combination.
I blinked and then continued reading.
The Uzumaki are known for their abilities with chakra and life force. If a Taijustu user were to infuse their chakra with their fighting, deadly occurrences could be resulted.
So it not just all kicking and yelling? I sighed, my eyes drooping. Maybe someone will wake me up before dinner, I thought as I lazily push the books under my pillow and tried to make the pillow comfortable again.
All this jutsu stuff...being a ninja...it only brings war...
I remember when I asked my sister what she thought of the fighting. The fact that our clans are only hired as mercenary strength to do the dirty work. She said it was all very depressing.
Little children would participate, she said I was lucky I had no experience like Madara and his family. I had agreed with her, Madara's brothers had died very young, it was only him and Izuna now.
Sometimes I feel guilty to be around Izuna. Besides, he despises the Senju to the point he gets mad at me a lot. He really doesn't like Hashirama either.
He thinks he's a 'Senju-bastard'. When I tell him to stop being so hateful, he would turn to me, Sharingun activated and tell me to leave.
I forgive Izuna, I don't think I could properly understand his opinions, for I have not experienced sadness as he has. I can't fight back against him either, his father would probably kill me and I wouldn't have much luck defending myself.
But what I'm more worried about right now than my little disputes with Izuna, is what will become of my family.
