Walking through the vacant streets of the compound it didn't take long for us to arrive at my house. Hansuke met us at the door with an expression of relief, he had arrived slightly earlier as we had taken a trip to Madara's.
"Your father is in his office and your mother in her bedroom," he informed me.
"Thank you, I'm glad they aren't running around the house fretting over my absence."
I gasped as Madara suddenly collapsed forward. He braced his hands on the floor and I slid myself under his arm to support him.
"Madara? What's wrong?" He brought one palm to his head and squeezed his eyes shut.
"I felt a sudden rush of pain to my head is all, I'm fine."
"What kind of pain? Here, you should lie down inside." He nodded and allowed me to stay near to him as we walked to the house.
The fire had died down in the living room to red coals leaving only a small amount of light into the room. It was a quaint room, not as large as my old houses living room. But it had a magnificent window looking out over a small garden.
Madara trudged over to the cushions on the floor and fell back onto them with a groan. I watched him with sympathy then tended to the fire with a new log. He blended into the night sky that shadowed his lying form.
"It must be from Izuna's eyes," he mumbled, quietly.
"You shouldn't have tried to use them so early after the transplant."
"I know," he responded. I stood up from the fire and joined next to him, letting the warmth of flames embrace me after being out in the cold most of the night.
"Miss Tomomi, I'm off to do my night rounds now," Hansuke poked his head into the room.
"Goodnight then Hansuke, and thank you again for tonight," I gave him a friendly smile before he nodded and left in a flash.
Absentmindedly, I stared out into the darkness, sometimes following a trail of tiny dotted stars through the window. The more I stared the more stars appeared and I felt a sense of relaxation fall upon me. For now, all was as it should be, calm.
"Tomomi," Madara whispered, reaching his palm to rest against my cheek.
I turned my face to him, leaning into his hand gently. "Yes Madara?"
His mouth curved up slightly and he reached to the back of my head and pulled me down to him. I leant on my hands as I came face to face with him, staring at him curiously. His warm breath caressed my face.
"Thank you Tomomi, for everything." I stared at him amused.
"You do not need to thank me Madara." He smiled again and closed his eyes with a sigh.
"Yes I do."
"Whatever, Pinhead." I smiled then as he opened his eyes, I let myself become lost in them.
"Whatever, Sakura girl." He kissed the side of my mouth and then trailed his lips to my jaw, I could feel the smile still present.
"When do you want to get married?" I felt my heart leap at his soft words. I wasn't expecting the words at all.
When would I like to get married? It felt weird to think about after all that had happened lately.
"What about...after the village is created? It'll be more peaceful."
"I like that idea." He run his thumbs along my skin gently in small circles.
"And I still have to ask my father, remember?" At that he closed his eyes.
"How could I forget."
"I'll make sure he agrees, believe me," I ran my fingers through his fringe and smoothed it from his forehead.
"I believe you," he looked at me once more.
"Good," I smiled and kissed him. I could feel the exhaustion as we barely managed to direct the kiss anywhere.
"I think you should go home Pin-head before you fall asleep on my floor," I taunted pulling away from him. He groaned.
"You have a habit of causing me to sleep on floors you know," he answered, leaning himself up tiredly.
"Maybe next time I'll let you have a bed then." He hummed in agreement and followed me to the door.
"Tomorrow, I'll explain to you my plan to tell the clan about our arrangements with Hashirama," I nodded at this, opening the front door and stepping out into the cool air. It made my hairs raise slightly along my skin.
"I'm sure they'll agree," I answered.
"Whatever happens, I'll try to make it work," Madara replied, rubbing his face as he walked out of the house and stood to face me. "I'll see you tomorrow then."
"Goodbye Madara," I smiled and hugged him tightly around the middle.
"Goodbye Tomomi." He ran his fingers through my hair delicately and then turned away. I watched his figure start to fade with each step he took into the darkness, until only an outline could be seen from the dim lanterns lining the street.
What a day this has been. I shook my head and went back inside, planning on comforting myself in the warmth of the fire.
It was then I stopped in my tracks after closing the door. In front of me she stood, hair roughly covering her shoulders and chest and a shadowed complexion that only shone from the light of the flames.
"Mother?" I made my way to the cushions and stared at her worryingly.
"Where have you been all night?" She asked, voice small, not like her usual self. Ever since Tomoko died, something changed my mother. I no longer received her witty humour and barely saw her around the house. I understood grief took a toll on people, but it's difficult watching it happen to your own mother.
"I may have just saved our clans Mother," I smiled at her, trying to reassure her. She furrowed her brow and pulled her hands to her arms.
"What do you mean?" She questioned, coming over to me and slowly taking a seat. I reached over and held her hand in mine gently.
"Madara was about to do something very stupid, he attacked Hashirama and Tobirama, but I convinced him to try to negotiate with them. They're going to try to build a village Mother."
She looked shocked at my story. She only stared into the fire silently.
"We'll finally all be united, the Senju, Uchiha and all other clans in the area. We don't have to fight each other anymore."
"That is something indeed." I nodded.
"I would also like to tell you something, and I want your opinion on it." At this she looked at me. I took a deep breath and smiled. "Madara and I, we want to get married, to each other."
I watched her features all expand, and then to my surprise, a glistening smile lit up her face. I felt my heart spike up in my chest.
"I've waited so long to hear those words," she whispered, clutching both of my hands.
"Really?" I nervously asked. She nodded enthusiastically, it made my spirits lift seeing her so happy.
"For a long time I believed the connection you two had built, I'm so glad it has grown to this." I stared at her in silent shock.
"What? Madara? And me? But how could you tell?" She then chuckled.
"Tomomi all you would talk about is how much Isamu would get on your nerves, yet you still hung out with him and talked about him with a massive smile on your face. And it was clear as day how much he cared about you, who else would he risk for sneaking around with someone who's supposed to be at war with him?" I sighed in agreement.
"I guess that makes sense then, that's kinda embarrassing really." Mother squeezed my hands once more.
"This will be the most exciting thing to happen to you so far, trust me." I could probably think of some pretty close things that would rank in with this. Maybe like that time I first walked up a tree using chakra, and on water. I unashamedly screamed and celebrated when that happened.
"I'll trust you on this then." Mother smiled at me warmly.
"I pray to god that the future brings you happiness with Madara."
