"Whatever happens, I promise I'll be there for you."
Warmth tickled my skin gently as I stared thinly at the small flickering flames across my room. The reminiscence of voices in my mind replayed into the silence as I relished in the comfort of my blankets. I had forgotten what I had dreamed about already.
The house was oddly silent, I stalked through the hallway and kitchen covered in the same clothes I had worn the night before, I was unusually exhausted when I had returned from Madara's house.
"Mother?"
There was no answer.
So I'm home alone?
I began to make my way towards the counter when a note caught my gaze. It was in father's handwriting.
Tomomi,
We have all gone over to Tajima Uchiha's, Hansuke will return after escorting us to watch over you.
I apologise for not waking you but you were fast asleep and we had a late night.
See you soon,
Father.
Confusion ran through my mind, surely last night was enough time to discuss things?
There was a knock against the wall next to me, bringing me from my thoughts. My fingers scrunched up the note in my palm whilst I stalked my way over to the kitchen window.
The grass was kissed by a layer of frost as it shone and began to melt under the morning suns heat. I smiled to myself, gazing out onto the remaining pale pink colours of the sunrise. It was tranquil.
Moments later there was another knock on the wall, this time it made me spin around and narrow my eyes. If it were Hansuke returning, he would have come inside by now. Movement on the floor made my heart skip as I found myself staring at a transparent puddle.
Water inside the kitchen?
I crouched to the floor and brought my nose down towards the liquid. That is when a cold shiver traveled throughout my entire body. Gradually, my eyes followed the trail of thick liquid flowing along the floorboards towards the hallway.
How on earth?
I got up and jogged to my room, nearly falling over and constantly sliding against the floor helplessly.
No, no...
My eyes widened and traced the floor when I reached my room, intensely eyeing the creeping puddle that was inches away from the burning embers of my fireplace. With trembling arms, I gazed upon all of my furniture and belongings soaked in the same forsaken liquid.
My throat let out a strangled cry as I propelled myself forward with a giant leap towards my bed. I slid, falling onto one knee heavily before I fiercely pulled myself onto my soaked bed feeling panic well inside me. My eyes burned with tears when I looked over my shoulder, seeing the stream mere centimetres from the fire, I hurriedly opened the latch onto my window. The rapid thud of my heart hammered uncontrollably inside my chest as I crawled, desperately trying to grab ahold of the window frame with my slimy hands.
Chakra.
Hairs stood along my arms at the thought and I immediately latched onto the surface using my chakra and pulled myself through to the outside. I leapt from the sill, a sudden rush of hot air hit my back before I stumbled against the cold blades of grass.
Dazed, I flung myself around towards the house and gasped at the sight of orange and red flames engulfing the entirety of the building.
"No!" I wailed.
I closed my eyes tight, slowly walking backwards from the sight, feeling my body get hit with waves of heat from the roaring flames. With burning lungs of smoke and a racing heart I anxiously ran towards the forest, feeling the cold earth numb the flesh of my feet.
But something caught my legs violently causing me to cry out and land painfully onto my stomach. I yelled in distress, feeling the dirt from the ground soak into my skin as a hand roughly grabbed my hair at the roots and pulled my head back. I stared at a covered face and piercing blue eyes that stared into my own.
"You disgrace the Uzumaki name," They growled as they forced me back onto my knees. I scrambled forward, clutching the grass with my fists.
"Let me go!" I screeched as I tried to pull my head forward and remove their hands. I began hitting blindly with my fists. My breathing hitched when I couldn't free myself.
"You can't run away." He stated as I felt a cold blade across my throat. I stopped struggling, hearing my heartbeat slowly beat inside my head. My arms weakly fell to my sides and I stared wide eyed, I couldn't move.
I'm going to die.
A vision of blood and smoke filled my mind momentarily making me feel as though I was falling, without control. I had seen the outcome already.
"Tomomi!" My world went black and cold.
A torturous groan filled my hearing as I opened my eyes and watched black smoke billow above me. Thudding noises echoed throughout my mind as I squinted at a flake of ash descending towards me. It spun with grace, fireflies following its path before it settled onto my nose.
Footsteps seemed directly next to me and before I knew it I was laying sideways on the ground. Crimson liquid sprayed the grass beside me, shining like a rubies surface as the flames reflected across each drop.
My body felt numb, was it shock? Am I...dying?
"Tomomi." A stern, deep voice spoke behind me. I didn't answer but remained still on the damp grass. The source sighed and walked to stand in front of my vision. I inspected their sandals, and slowly lifted my gaze to their face. Their expression was firm, and eyes had fully activated with the intricate patterned Sharingan.
"Madara...?" I tightly spoke. "Madara where is my family?" I whispered, staring deeply with a pleading look into his eyes.
"They are at the Uchiha compound," he replied, and only then did I notice a streak of blood running down his forehead.
"Madara I can't move my body." I whimpered, my hand that was layed against the ground unconsciously twitched.
"That's because your chakra has been sealed." He calmly replied back, crouching to my level. My eyes widened at this, they sealed my chakra? So they could kill me easily?
"They were assassins." Madara spoke and then began to lift my arm and pull me closer to him. I squeezed my eyes shut, trying to not cry at this weird sensation of not having any power.
"But my family is alive?" I asked again, trying not to panic even more.
"Yes." He answered, putting one of my arms around his neck. "The Uzumaki attackers have been dealt with too." Madara said, lifting me up under my legs and holding me against his chest. "The alliance has officially been judged." He muttered and stood up. I felt a slight pressure on my forehead as he pressed his lips to it softly.
"Everything will be ok."
It felt like Madara had been running for hours until the familiar buildings of the Uchiha compound came to view.
"Tomomi! Tomomi!" I heard the yelling of my mother and many footsteps coming towards us. Madara tensed slightly and stopped walking as they approached us.
"Is she alive?" My mother demanded to Madara as I woefully stared at the smoke in the distance.
"Yes. She has a seal stopping her from using her chakra and moving her body."
"Tomomi," My mother said slightly softer and placed a hand on my cheek. "Madara where is it?" She asked.
"On her forehead," he spoke before my mother took off.
I felt so helpless. I wanted to clutch onto Madara like there was no tomorrow, but I also wanted to hold the warm hand that was placed upon my cheek. I seemed to have been too lost in thought, because we were suddenly moving again.
"Where are we going?" I softly said slurring my words.
"My house." He reasuringly answered, sliding his shoulder up so that my chin rested in the crook of his neck. I didn't answer, but instead tiredly closed my eyes and listened to distant voices echoeing across the compound.
A noise awoke me and I found myself staring directly at a ceiling.
"Darling?" My fathers voice hesitently spoke in the room. I tried to move my head to him, strained my muscles to move, only resulting in a tiny twitch in my leg.
"Tomomi I am going to break the seal now," he said and he came into my eyesight above me. His hand had blue fire on the very tips of his fingers and they were coming towards me.
"Be calm child." He ordered and they touched the top of my scalp.
It was like opening a cage that was too overcrowded. I let out a strangled cry as a forceful pain thumped against my skill. All my energy came flooding back into my body, my veins were re-pumped full of power. Forcing my lungs I took a large inhale of air as a cold flush traveled down my whole body.
"Can you move, Tomomi?" My father asked, and this time I turned my head to his standing figure and smiled.
"Yes father." I said and wiggled my fingers, then my toes.
"You should rest, its been a long day." He answered and then he was exiting the room. He seemed dissapointed or even upset from his aura. I started to wonder if the destruction of our home was the real reason he was like this. I felt sad that our home was gone, but I was too overwhelmed with the reassurance that we were all safe than anything else. I sat up slowly, trying to berid my dizziness.
"He knows." A voice said behind me. I quickly turned around and faced Madara. He stood against the wall, one foot against it and his eyes closed.
"What?" I said confused and swung my legs over the side of the bed. Madara sighed opening his eyes and pushed of the wall. He walked towards me never breaking eye contact.
"Your father, he knows everything." My eyes widened and Madara fell down onto the mattress beside me and laid on his back. "He knows about us, your training, everything Tomomi."
"How?" I managed to whisper before I also fell backwards with disbelief.
Madara was silent for a moment, my heartbeat pounded through my head.
"He...found the situation...suspicious, especially my actions, that I was interacting with you. Before you woke up, he demanded answers..."
"They couldn't have told him!"
"They gave in Tomomi."
I stared at the bare ceiling as a stray tear slid down my temple. Madara shifted, coaxing me to come closer.
"Everything will be fine," he whispered deeply, holding me close as I laid my head against his chest.
"But what if it's really not?"
"I promised, I'm not letting you go."
"Please don't ever."
