"Does the idea scare you?"

Grey droplets of rain smothered the glass windows, blocking the high moons light from invading the room as a warm candles flame engulfed my flushed features. The warmth and dusty smell of the blanket draped around my shoulders filled my senses as it mixed with the earthy scent of Madara.

His hands lingered around my hips barely as I sat between his legs, letting my own circle his waist lazily. I smiled shyly and bowed my head, his breath danced along my neck as he spoke.

"It is my father that scares me the most." I stared at the opposite wall, lamented in my own thoughts. I was technically engaged now, which would either be a bad thing for my fathers plot or help him, and frankly I had no idea which one he would go with.

"Do you think he would agree?" Madara spoke my thoughts while he rested his forehead against my shoulder snugly.

"There can't possibly be a more powerful figure than you in the clan that would catch his interest." My words were clear and precise, convincing myself that what I said would sell to my father.

"Clan leader is I suppose the highest ranking one could achieve."

I smiled at Madara amusingly when he moved back to faced me once more and let out a short chuckle. "We should go back to mine soon, I don't want to risk getting into trouble after such an interesting night."

"I just proposed to you and you call it interesting," there was a whine in his tone of voice as he ran a hand down the side of his face exaggeratedly.

"It was unexpected is all!" I argued defiantly, crossing my arms childishly.

I furrowed my brows when he started lightly laughing to himself.

"What's so funny?"

He shook his head with a smile and ran his fingers through my hair gently. "It wasn't unexpected for me though...I didn't make this decision out of thin air."

My heart thumped hard in my chest at his words.

"You...planned to propose to me?" My eyes were wide with fascination. I would never have guessed that such a plot and feelings dwelled inside of Madara, especially towards me. The most undesirable match in his position.

He nodded his head, "for months now Tomomi."

My head felt light and dizzy, perhaps I was processing too much information lately. For most of my life I believed Madara would never think of me in that way, especially marrying me. We would forever remain friends and slowly drift apart as each of us found our own partners in our clans.

"Why didn't you just ask me out first?" I felt kind of disappointed that it had gone straight from friends to fiancées, but I couldn't complain too much.

"Isn't that what I basically just did?" There was a cheeky smirk on his lips that made me blush with realisation.

"Until my father agrees...we are technically dating."

"You can say it like that," I returned his smile and laughed, my whole mind was in a fuzz of warmth and happiness.

"But you're right, I should take you home." I nodded and shook the blanket off my shoulders.

"Hey!" I yelped when Madara suddenly had leaped from the bed with me around his waist in a moment startling me. "Show off." I smiled wrapping my arms around his neck and hugging him comfortably just as he began walking across the dimly lit room.

"I'm going to run so hang on," I could hear the amusement in his voice.

The door was opened gently, allowing streaks of moonlight into the room, sculptured by the shadow of myself and Madara. I breathed in the fresh scent of rain and mud just as we had exited the shack and then took off into the pouring night.

My back was being abused by cold air and wet droplets as Madara ran much faster than I could across the forest floor. Everything blurred around me in a mass of dark, moonlit branches.

I could smell the smoke from my home before I could see it as Madara came to a stop outside my open window quietly. He walked me to my windowsill and sat me on it carefully making me place my hands onto his shoulders.

"You should get out of those wet clothes," he whispered staring at me.

"It's just my coat that's wet," I whined at the thought of having to go through the effort of changing clothes.

"Go to sleep then," he smiled lightly and nodded his head gesturing to my bed.

"Fine." I spun around and climbed onto my bed as delicately as I could. It was cold as I removed my coat trying not to spread the water droplets all over my blankets and then threw it onto the floor carelessly.

It'll dry overnight.

Madara was watching me with a hawks gaze as his fluorescent eyes glistened against the dim light from my fireplace.  With a sigh I pulled my blankets over me and tried to get some warmth into my body.

"Do you remember the day we met?" I fiddled with my blanket. He watched me silently as the world dissolved around me, his red eyes drowning my sight.

"I could never forget," He whispered.

The wind blew with a howl through my room, caressing my hair as it swayed silently. The sides of his cape flew up momentarily, concealing his face from view as he turned towards the night.

"Madara," I hurried to say reaching my palm quickly towards him. He stalled his movement and faced me curiously.

"If you could...would you have lied to me that day? Would you have ignored your heart and told the truth?" Lightly, my palm rested over his chest, feeling his steady and strong heart beating beneath his skin.

"Because if you would go back, if you would tell the truth. I would do anything for you to stay, right here, with me...in the shadows."

My body felt warm as I was staring deeply into his eyes, and suddenly the world around me was filled with a white air, covering everything from view. And then there was only Madara in front of me, and he kissed my forehead lightly. He drew back after and gave me a brilliant smirk that lit his whole face and caused my stomach to drop heavily.

"Me too."
