Today was the last day of final selection. Rain was pouring down soaking me from head to toe as I chased after the demon I was currently after. I had killed a few demons during these last few days but none of them have been able to give me the information I was looking for.

I continued running until I was finally able to trap the demon into a bunch of vines. "I have a question for you. Once a person is turned into a demon how are they able to turn back"? He said nothing. All he did was lung at me and I cut his head off with my sword killing him. Two more showed up and I killed them as well.

I put my sword away and continued walking. I let out a breath of relief once I saw the wisteria blossoms. I rested for the rest of the night and when morning came I made my way up the steps and waited for the twin girls to show up.

I was surprised to see that only a few of the swordsmen that had originally attended the final selection were able to pass it. Including me, there were only four survivors. The swordsmen I had saved when I had first started weren't among the four of us.

"Welcome back everybody"? The twins said as they made their way over to us. "And congratulations". The white-haired twin started. "We're pleased to see your safe". The black-haired twin finished. "So what happens now"? One of the finalists asked.

"We'll start my issuing you all uniforms. We'll take your measurements then engrave your rank into the back of your hand. There are ten ranks in total.

"You all started Mizunoto, this is the lowest rank in the demon slayer core". "And our swords"? "In a moment. You will each be given a chance to select an ore that will forge your swords. However it will be ten to fifteen days before the swords will be ready for you but first". The white haired twin clapped her hands and crows made their way to us and landed on our shoulders.

"Now that your demon slayers you each must be assigned your own Kasugai crow. "What for"? "The Kasugai crows are primarily used to facilitate information". "Who the hell cares about some stupid crow"? The finalist from earlier yelled as he made his way over to the white-haired twin and grabbed her by her head.

"Give it to me before I get angry. The color changing Katana. I want it now do you you hear me"!? I made my way over to them and took him off of her. "Let her go now". I said sternly. "Who the hell are you"? "That doesn't concern you". I pushed him away from her then stood in front of her guarding her.

"No one should ever lay their hands on a child". "Oh yeah, what are you gonna do about it"? I grabbed his arm and broke it. He yelled out loud as he backed away and held onto it. "Are you finished chatting with each other"? The black-haired twin asked.

I nodded my head.

"Very well then". She made her way over to a table that had a cloth on top of it and took it off to reveal the ores she was talking about. "Now the time has come, please select an ore to use for your sword. The steel you will use to protect yourself and annihilate countless demons will be that of your own choosing".

"I'm going to be dead soon anyway, probably". One of the other finalists muttered. He had on a yellow kimono that matched the color of his hair. There was nothing special about the ores that were in front of us.

They were all different shapes naturally but there was nothing special about any of them that stood out. I looked at each one until I eventually reached out and grabbed the one I wanted.

The journey home was long and tiring. My entire body hurt with each step I took but I couldn't allow myself to rest. I wasn't going to stop moving until I saw Hashirama again. I've missed him so much while being away and I know he's missed me. I just hope he's awake.

When I finally made it back to the mountain it was nightfall. I staggered as I tried to make my way there but was surprised to see the door be kicked down. I then started in shock as I watched Hashirama walk out of the house.

He still had the gourd in his mouth but he was awake. My hashi was finally awake. "Hashirama". I whispered as I started to make my way over to him. He turned to me then ran meeting me halfway.

I fell to my knees and cried as we held onto each other. "Thank goodness your finally awake. I've missed you so much my love. I thought about you every single day that I was away from you. I'm so glad your feeling better. Don't ever scare me like that again".

I continued to cry as Urokodaki made his way over to us, took us into his arms and cried as well. "Your here, you came back alive".

Once everything settled down Urokodaki and I went inside a room to talk in private. "You did it, you killed that mutated demon". "I did, the first day final selection started in fact". "Then it's finally over. I'm truly impressed you made it back". "Thank you sir".

"You should know, there are different kinds of demons. The blood demon art is a special spell that some use to give them abilities. You may have to end up fighting against some of them in the near future and fighting against supernatural abilities will be far more difficult then anything you've done. Still, I have no doubt you'll be just fine".

"Thank you but it seems Hashirama is different from other demons". "This is only a guess but I believe Hashirama can recover his strength by sleeping instead of consuming human flesh like others do". I took relief in that.

"Thank you for taking care of him for me". I stood up, bowed to him then made my way to hashi's room. I closed the door behind me then got under the covers with him and held him close to me. "I swear I'll protect you". I whispered to him before falling asleep.

Fifteen days passed until I was finally able to get my sword. I sat outside as I watched a man in a straw hat approach. "Hello there". "My name is Haganezuka, I forged Madara Uchiha's sword". "I'm Madara". He handed it to me and we made our way inside.

I sat down in front of him and Urokodaki both. I took the sword out it's seth and the three of us watched as it went from a silver color to a red one. "Not surprising since I mainly use fire breathing. Thank you for the hard work, I appreciate it".

I stood up, bowed to them then headed to where Hashirama was. He made his way over to me, looked at the sword and clapped his hands before hugging me. "I can protect you better now". I said smiling. We were soon interrupted by my crow flying in from under the closed curtains on the window.

"Madara Uchiha, I bring you orders. You must go to a town northwest from here and hurry, young girls are disappearing. Night after night at least one of them vanishes. You must hunt down the demon responsible and destroy it.

Madara Uchiha prepare yourself well, this is your first assignment as a member of the demon slayer core". "Understood".
