      ROGUE SOLDIERS were far and few between FEDRA's ranks, being swiftly dealt with if one arose. Death was the ultimate punishment for one who betrayed their fellow soldiers, ensuring no one else would be influenced to make the same choices. Despite their efforts being spread thin due to their ongoing war with the Fireflies, FEDRA still made sure to keep track of its own. It was then when the disappearance of Sloane Torres was brought to light. She had missed one of her patrols, resulting in a fine that was sent to her apartment. When her superior didn't hear a response, soldiers were sent to her home to figure out what had happened.

In her apartment they found things were knocked over, drawers left hanging on their hinges, and utter chaos in every room. Everyone knew Sloane Torres lived with her young daughter, Leia, and her older brother, Miguel, but even they were nowhere to be found. They all seemed to have vanished into thin air. Rumors quickly spread between the soldiers, hushed whispers about how Sloane betrayed FEDRA and deserted them. However, there was one man who was determined to find the truth.

Lieutenant Jack Hobart was Sloane's superior; the blame of her disappearance falling on him. The two had quite the history, one that neither of them liked to think about. But, the bad blood between them was one that everyone could sense. With everything on the line and the Fireflies starting to gain the upper hand in Boston, Jack decided to take things into his own hands. He would find Sloane and bring her back, needing her to face justice for her wrongdoings.

And if there was one thing Sloane knew for sure, it was that FEDRA would not forgive her for her actions. But, they were that of a worried mother in search of her daughter. Time and time again, she warned her brother Miguel not to fall for the honeyed words of the Fireflies. Their false promises, their hopes for a better future, their pursuit for humanity to return to what it once was, it was all a lie. However, Miguel still believed them. And during the night, he took his niece, Leia, and ran. Realizing what happened, Sloane had no choice but to follow them.

From her connections, she found out that her brother had received help in sneaking out of the Quarantine Zone━━smugglers by the name of Joel Miller and Theresa Servopoulos. Joel and Tess, names she had heard far too many times during her patrols. And, she had seen her own brother with Joel on more than one occasion. But, with time running against her, she needed to forget about her irritation with the smuggler and follow in Miguel and Leia's footsteps instead. Fate had other plans for Sloane, though.

A former smuggler and an ex-soldier traveling together seemed to be recipe for disaster, especially since Sloane found herself aiding Joel Miller's quest to get an 14-year-old, smart-mouthed girl to the Fireflies. Her name was Ellie Williams and supposedly, she was immune to the Cordyceps brain infection. And, the Fireflies believed the young girl was the key to creating a vaccine. Sloane desperately hoped she would find her missing family members in the same spot. Neither Joel and Sloane liked each other much, but their safest bet was to travel across the country together.

One thing after the other seemed to thwart the trio's plans, lowering their chances of survival yet bringing them closer with every step of their journey. Infected and the living sought to end them, along with an unknown threat of past enemies closing in on Sloane. But, she refused to let the mad world get its hold on her.

She would do whatever it took to endure and survive.

HELLO!!!! MY JOEL FIC IS FINALLY HERE Y'ALL!!!!! 🥳

I've been wanting to write a Joel fic for a while now (and only Amara knows I had a very different one planned out), but I just didn't like the vibes of it, and so this oc and her plot was born!!!

So there's obviously gonna be some tension and resentment between Joel and Sloane, but all for the plot hehe!! They're all gonna struggle to trust each other + get along, but slowly y'all will see some growth/development throughout, and ofc some twists and turns that will cause more trouble 😈 AND some of you might have looked at the additional cast and recognized three of those names <3 it is the OC from my Supernatural fic + the main boys!! I couldn't resist including them in this! But if you haven't read it/watched the show/know anything about Supernatural, that's okay!!! All I'm doing are including the characters (who will only show up a few times) so you don't need to know anything about them in order to read this story <3 And as for the golden retriever in the cast list (which is the dog that's in hawkeye), so yes there is a dog in this, and spoiler warning, the dog will not die. I would rather me die so y'all ain't gotta worry about that + i never kill any animals i bring into any of my fics bc no, just no <3
