[First day of school, two months later.]

I woke up to the sound of my dad, who was banging on a pan to wake me up. "Get up Alice! You need to go and explore the land of your wonderland."

"Ugh, you're annoying." I said groaning. Grabbing my phone to see what time it was.

I got up and turned on the lights, "Thanks for waking me up though. If you didn't I would've missed the first day of school."

I walked into my bathroom and hopped into the shower, singing loudly until I felt the need that I was done.

I got into some dark blue skinny jeans and a cropped tee, it looked like it was a plain white tee shirt with an animated outline. I picked out my platforms and went to the bathroom.

I did my makeup, same as always but this time I kind of exaggerated my eyeliner, creating more of a bold look. I did my eyebrows dark, like my hair and I stood in front of the mirror for a second.

"Meh, I look alright. I don't look awful."

I got into my car and started it, pressing the radio button and a familiar song played.

Let's get these teen hearts beating faster, faster. Testosterone boys and harlequin girls will you dance to this beat and hold a lover close.

I was singing when a car drove I front of me cutting me off, I honked the horn. "God damn you!" I yelled flipping him off through my window.

I now, angrily drove to school with my eyebrows furrowed. Asshole ruined my day. I pulled up to the school that I would be going to until my high school days were over. Basically saying for this year and next year. I'm a junior. I stopped my car and took a breather, then I opened the door and walked down the parking lot, into the school.

I looked around, the school smelt like the smell when you open the box of crayons. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't pleasant. I got out one of my papers, which had the orders of my classes and where they were. I looked up and I say Skylar.

"Oh hey Skylar!" I said looking up and walking over to her.

"Oh my god! Hey look at you! You look awesome!" She said smiling me and hugging me. "So these are my friends. First over there you have Adam." A shorter guy waved.

"Then you have Juliet." She pointed to a girl with frizzy hair, who looked like she was born in the eighties.

"These are my main friends, were kind of a squad."

I smiled, "Well hi, I'm Alice." I said shyly.

"Woah! Like from wonderland!" Juliet said excitedly.

"Sure? Why not?" I said laughing.

"Are those your real eyebrows?" Adam said, petting my eyebrows.

"Yes? They are." I said, "oh but I have to go. I can't be late on my first day. See you guys later! Oh and Skylar, be sure to give them my number." I said and walked off.

I made my way down the hallway when I bumped into a tall guy, "Woah girl, watch where you're going."

"Oh I'm sorry." I said looking down.

"You're just one of those emo girls."

"It's called grunge, dipshit."

"I'm Brendon,"

"Alice." I muttered.

"Oh like from wonderland?" he asked, and laughed .

Oh god, he's that type of person. "Yes from wonderland." I sighed, making him laugh.

"Well I'm going to go to my class, maybe I'll see you later?" He said rushing me to answer.

"Maybe."

"Okay- well bye!" He said and ran off.

I made my way into the huge lunch room to see a bunch of tables, I grabbed an apple and sat down with Juliet, Skylar, and Adam.

"What's up?" I asked and sat down.

"Nothing, but I saw you talking with Brendon." Juliet said looking at me, lifting the left eyebrow suspiciously.

"Yeah- were totally flirting. He called me emo." I said sarcastically.

"Wow. One small step for emos." Adam said laughing.

"What do you mean?" I asked.

"Well you're friends with us, we're kind of the, quote on quote, emos. Or outcasts."

"That's not an issue though?" I said laughing.

"No it's really not. It's just you new to be prepared to be called goth or emo." Skylar said.

"I told him that it was called grunge, then I called him a dipshit." I said laughing. "Then I told him that my name was Alice and he asked if I was from wonderland."

They laughed.

"But what do you think about Brendon and Alice?" Skylar said.

"Oh I like it." Juliet said.

"Meh, it's kinda cute." Skylar said laughing.

"Well I'm new here, I'm not hooking up with him. I barely know him." I said finishing my apple.

I went up to go get another one, but I had to wait because they were all out and they had them back in the kitchen.

"Hey Alice." Brendon said, coming up behind me.

"Hey Brendon." I said laughing.

"What's up?" He asked, kind of awkwardly.

"You know...just getting me some apples." I said laughing at the end.

"Fancy, an apple a day keeps the doctors away." He said with a wink.

"Only if you throw it hard enough." I said bluntly.

"Oh."

The lady came out with the apples and handed me two. I said thank you and walked back to my table.

"Hey," I said and sat down.

"He totally likes you. " Skylar said handing me a paper.

"What's this?" I asked holding the paper in my hand.

"It's a forum for the talent show, we have it every year. You should sign up." Skylar said happily.

"Ha. Ha. Very funny Skylar." I said laughing, handing her the paper again. She wouldn't except it.

"Oh no, you're signing up. You have to."

"But I don't a pe-" Adam cut me off, handing me a pen.

I sighed, and signed my name. I guess this is a chance for a new beginning.
