Part 7
"What are you doing here?" I thought you all had left" she asked, shocked by his presence.
"We did... but I felt bad about what happened earlier and..."
"Stop right there!" she interrupted him yet again. "If you are going to apologize; Don't. There is no reason to."
"I don't understand. Why not?" We treated you horribly. You must be angry. So I don't understand why you don't want us to acknowledge that mistake."
"Listen, I don't blame you all for thinking that I wasn't qualified. I would have done the same if I were in your shoes. Besides, if you still thought that I wasn't good enough, you wouldn't have gone back into the studio. So please, don't think you owe me anything."
As he listened to her, he couldn't help but agree. "I understand, I won't try and apologize anymore" he sincerely said. "You know, I was quite impressed. I didn't think anyone so young could be so accomplished." She looked at him rather embarrassed by his comment. Noticing this, he quickly tried to explain "Don't get me wrong. It's not that I didn't think anyone could be; it's just that I wasn't expecting it. Umm... What I mean to say is..."
She giggled "It's okay, I understand what you are trying to say. By the way, I forgot to introduce myself, my name is Dawn. It was a pleasure to work with you."
"Right..." he became flustered. "My name is Ryosuke Takahashi. It was nice to meet you."
Dawn smiled, then she turned around so that she could finish cleaning up. Ryosuke left, but was hesitant to do so. He would have preferred staying and talking with her, but knew that they both had other things to do. He hoped that this wouldn't be the last time he would see her.
Once the studio was cleaned, Dawn went to Tachibana-sama's office to report how her first assignment went.
"Dawn, how was your first session?" Tachibana asked casually. "I know the producer called me earlier because he was skeptical."
"Yeah, he was acting a little rude so I told him to call you" she replied a little annoyed that she had to recount the experience. "After you spoke with him, the band went into the studio and we recorded the first song."
"And... How did it go?"
"It went well. They came back into the booth for the playback and they were pleased with the results. Then they returned to the studio and we managed to record a few more songs before their time slot was up."
"That's good" he said happily surprised that everything worked out. "By the way, Seguchi-sama called me earlier and asked how everything was working out."
"And... What did you say?"
"I told him that you had not reported in yet. Then he said that you should probably use an alias when you are working at the agency."
"Okay, what name should I use?" she asked cheerfully.
"Wait, you're okay with that?"
"Why not? I think it would be interesting and fun to use an alias."
"Really?" he was surprised, but somehow he was able to accept her decision. "So, what name do you want to use?"
She stood silently and tried to think of a name. Then suddenly, her eyes widened and she looked Tachibana in the eye. "How does Machi-san sound?"
Tachibana thought for a moment. It sounds cute! he thought to himself, but knew that he could never tell her that. Instead he just smiled and said "I think that will work out just fine."
