Chapter 55: Fuck, I'm In Love
The ravenette's eyes shrank in fear, looking at the navy-haired girl that just spoke. He didn't know what to do, pausing in place before all kinds of thoughts ran through his mind. It wasn't a pleasant thing to deal with, so for once, he decided not to think. He decided to do what he thought was best in the spur of the moment. So he took his gun from his holster and shot Seraphina near the heart, making her fall on the stairs as she struggled to stay alive.
Immediately, regret. It wasn't just Seraphina that he had shot, it was his child as well. He dropped to the ground and began to panic, listening for a heartbeat on the navy-haired girl. Shouting for help, people rushed around, carrying the navy-haired girl to the infirmary. All the while, Sora panicked, not knowing what would happen. If he killed his own child, he wouldn't be able to take it.
He paced around from wall to wall in the corridor, waiting for any news whatsoever. It couldn't come slower to him, the wait unbearable and the thinking he did, more so. Bounds of questions came to him about what would happen if he had killed his child. The only one he could answer would be the question of which life between his child and Seraphina's he'd want to be saved. The answer was obvious to him. The navy-haired girl needed to die anyway, but not the child, especially not the child. Yet the baby wasn't old enough to live if Seraphina died. He didn't know what to do.
"Master Sora," one of the doctors said, coming out of the room and greeting him, "I'm afraid we can't say what will happen as of now. We need time."
"I don't have time!" the ravenette snarled, burying his hands in his hair in the utmost level of stress, "Fuck, fuck, fuck!"
The male turned his attention to punching and kicking a nearby wall with all the strength he had. It didn't matter to him. He could demolish the wall for all he cared. In fact, he would have preferred it. It would be a constant reminder of how badly he fucked up, with a life that he was responsible for, no less. As he began hitting his head against the wall repetitively, he turned back to the doctor.
"Just tell me what you know," he sighed sharply, leaning against the wall, his eyes focused on the ceiling, but not really.
"From what we could tell, she has a few cracked bones, mostly in her arms and legs due to the...torture. As for the gunshot wound, we're having a hard time removing it. If we can't stitch it up soon, she will die from a lack of blood, courtesy of the bullet in a major artery."
"And the child?"
The doctor went silent, looking from side to side to ensure that the ravenette was talking to him. When he deduced it must have been the case, seeming as they were the only people in the hallway, he gave an awkward cough and rubbed the back of his neck. Sora snapped his head to the doctor, a skeptical feeling overcoming him. Something bad was amiss, and he didn't particularly want to know, but he didn't have the choice.
"I-uh, I was not given any indication the woman was pregnant, sir," the doctor said meekly, shying away from the clearly enraged male.
Sora was filled with an immense hatred for both the navy-haired girl attempting to fool him and her almost getting away with it. She would have been able to if she hadn't given him the assumption she knew who had orchestrated the pretend assassin. But it wasn't his fault, he had to. (Y/n) was being so damn stubborn, nothing else was going to get to her. It wasn't like he had actually requested that assassin to harm her. No, he told the bastard specifically not to touch her. And killing him made sure no one else knew about the ravenette's endeavor to get the (h/c) haired girl to fess up.
Sora shook his head, knowing the matter wasn't of importance, but somehow his thoughts always wanted to go back to (Y/n). Even in that moment, she was what satiated his anger, calming him in a moment where he would've already shot Seraphina to death, cutting off any and all funds to her brother. That would be the price for betraying and cheating him even if he was typically harsher.
The ravenette let a smile grace his features as his cheeks turned pink, making the doctor fear for his life as well. No one had seen such a thing from him and it was greatly unnerving. Even as he walked into the infirmary, he wore a smile, thinking of (Y/n) and what she would say to cheer him up. It was something that put him at peace and he didn't mind it one bit. No, it was very welcome, stopping his nerves and pent up anger, replacing it with a feeling of serene belonging.
He directed his gaze to the navy-haired girl laying on the bed, looking away with a shunning expression. It was only natural after he had shot her out of the blue, but it was to be expected from him when revealing something that could ruin his reputation. Still, the ravenette did not frown, keeping a smile on his face as he sat down on a seat next to the female. She turned back to look at him, shivers going up her spine as she saw his unnatural grin.
"Should've known you were full of shit," he chuckled, but the laugh was more dark than airy in tone, "But I should count myself lucky not to have a little princess with a bitch like you, huh?"
"Yet your dumbass believed me," the navy-haired girl scoffed, rolling her eyes, "So, what now? I'm already dead, I know, but my brother?"
"Good question," the male hummed, leaning back in the chair and thinking to himself, closing his eyes for more clarity.
"Sora, please, don't cut him off. You know he'll die."
"I told you what would happen if you were lyin' to me about having my child," the ravenette growled, his smile vanishing.
"You've known him for three years! Remind me how old he is again?! Five years old! Five fucking years!"
"I don't have any incentive to show you mercy."
The navy-haired girl furrowed her eyebrows as her eyes began tearing up in frustration and fear for her brother's life. Sora didn't seem to have a change of expression, uncaring of the girl's emotional response, especially because of everything she'd taken from. Not only did she lie to him repetitively, steal money from him, and constantly guilt him into giving her advantages, but she was trying to play the victim, and he wasn't having it.
"In this state, I can't do anything!" she cried, her tears streaming down her cheeks frantically, "I can't help gather information, I can't fuck you to make up for it, I can't even move, you bastard!"
"I don't need anythin' you can provide for me anymore. You can be replaced."
"By (Y/n)," Seraphina said, ceasing her crying but refilling it with rage.
The male paused, pleasantly surprised to hear the younger girl's name mentioned. A small smile made its way onto his lips again, and he let out a relaxed sigh, almost a grunt. At the same time, he saw the way the navy-haired girl looked at him as if she were saying "I told you so". She seemed angry that he didn't notice why his expression and mood had changed. He looked curiously at the way she gazed at him, telling her to explain.
"You're in love with (Y/n), dumbass," she spat, "You don't see the way you look at her or the way you look when you're around her, do you?"
The ravenette paused, his heart becoming still as he straightened his back, appearing more composed than before. As he processed it, his face was blank while he barely moved a muscle. It was entirely expected from the navy-haired girl, and she waited with annoyance as he tried to understand if what she said was true or not. At the same time, she made sure to roll her eyes, and crossed her arms over her chest as per usual.
Meanwhile, Sora was spiralling into a crisis, thinking constantly about what was going on. As he recalled it, he did feel a certain way around her he hadn't felt with the other girls in his harem. She was always so caring to him or too stubborn for her own good, but he always liked both extremes. Yet, thinking more on it, he loved both extremes. He loved the way she would smile whenever he came near or how she would be compassionate to anyone, regardless if she liked them or not.
Not to mention her intelligence. There were countless moments where she saved his ass with her quick-witted mind. If she hadn't been there for him, he would be stuck having to go through a slave trade until his dying days. Not only that, but she encouraged him not to smoke, worrying for his health. There were so many things she did for him, but he couldn't believe it. And even when he did, it took him quite a while to process it fully.
"Fuck," he said, his face still blank as he looked back up to meet Seraphina's eyes, "Fuck, I love her, don't I? I fucking love her...Shit!"
At this, the ravenette stood up and grinned from ear to ear as if that moment was the happiest one he'd ever experienced. He began walking from one side of the room to the other, ignoring the doctors that were working on Seraphina. The male was almost skipping the way he beamed, chuckling internally. It seemed he was surprised by the revelation, but overjoyed by it nonetheless.
"Oh fuck, I'm in love!" he chuckled, then let out an almost strained groan, "With my girly, no less!"
"No shit," the navy-haired girl muttered.
"Shut it," the male snapped, pointing his gun at her with a scowl before smiling lovingly again and exhaling longingly, "Let me enjoy this."
The ravenette dismissed the doctors in the room, watching as they scurried away from him. This could either have been the fact that he was beginning to appear insane or that he was holding a gun he frequently used. Either way, they left as quickly as possible, greatly amusing the male. The sense of power it gave him made him grin more and turn to look into the mirror with an extreme interest.
He began pushing his hair into place, checking on his appearance, and fixing anything that needed fixing. Sora adjusted his tie, his watch, and his belt, taking special care to make sure a thing wasn't out of place. After, he stared at himself with a cocky smirk, whistling at himself and then winking. There was a lot of time he spent in making sure everything was spotless, seeming odd to the navy-haired girl behind him.
"I look so fucking hot, don't I?" he chuckled, turning around to face the annoyed female.
"Yes, and your ego is extraordinarily healthy, too."
"Mm, well, I couldn't care less about your opinion as long as (Y/n)'s into me."
"That was quick."
"She's hot, she's young, she's...irresistible," Sora sighed, leaning against the mirror and smiling with more than contempt, "Fuck, everythin' about her drives me insane, but I've only just understood. I've gotta make up for lost time."
The navy-haired girl watched as the ravenette began to get worked up, smiling more than was usual for him. The way he checked himself out was typical, but he was more thorough, looking not only for himself, but for (Y/n) as well. He very obviously wanted her to think he was undeniably attractive. It was strange, considering he thought himself the most attractive person no matter what. Yet there he was, changing the way he looked even if slightly for another. It was certainly unheard of for him.
"You're trying to fuck her already?" Seraphina scoffed, even if she predicted it.
"Fuckin'? Don't think I'll go down that path for a bit," he said, pondering to himself how he wanted everything to play out, "First things first, I'll need one of those damn kisses of hers. Fuck, last time she gave me one, she stunned me, but...she said Kage's name instead of mine."
The male's tone darkened as he thought of the memory. Sure, the girl's kiss was gentle and filled with love and longing, but it wasn't meant for him. The thought was unpleasant to him, making him feel jealousy and envy. It didn't stay with him very long, disappearing when he thought of something he thought was better. The next time she kissed him, she'd gasp his name out instead. He was certain of it, especially because he wanted her, he desired her, more than anything else and he always got what he wanted.
"I'll think on your brother," Sora said, a frown appearing on his face as he changed the subject, "but you're dead. Can't have you tellin' my woman anythin', after all."
The male didn't waste any time shooting the girl and making sure her heartbeat ceased to exist. When she died, he grinned happily and made his way through the hallways with a quickening pace. In doing so, many turned their heads at his joyful mood, especially when he flung open the doors to many rooms, looking for the (h/c) haired girl. When, eventually, he found her in the dining hall, his smile only widened.
He rushed over to (Y/n), ignoring the fact she was deep in a conversation with Asuka and Enmei. In fact, he didn't even process their presence, his focus solely on the younger girl and her alone. As she saw him coming, she gave a small wave, making his expression soften further as his heart pounded at her simple gesture. It filled his heart and made him realize just how much he loved her. Though the shock at first understanding the fact stunned him and prevented him from understanding, he wouldn't have had it any other way.
When he reached her, Sora immediately threw his arms around the girl and lifted her up, embracing her tightly. She reacted by tensing, but snickered at his strange state, letting him do as he pleased. It was only when she saw the way he grinned at her did she begin to figure out the situation. At the same time, he pushed her hair back to stare into her (e/c) pupils with great appreciation for their vibrant color.
He then carried her to the front of the room and stood her in front of him as he placed one of his arms around her waist, pulling her into him as he looked down at her. The room turned their attention to him, drunk or not, and it went silent as he gave a smirk, looking at all the eyes on them. It was only right that everyone understood that she was his, especially as he was deeply in love with her. He didn't want anyone touching her.
"Listen up, grunts, dumbasses, and bitches," he announced, placing his lips to the (h/c) haired girl's ear before resting his chin on her head, "This is my woman, got it? Touch her, speak to her, or hurt her, and I promise you'll be the next one to leave the estate. In a body bag, anyway."
The room went silent, confusion everywhere one looked. It wasn't an ordinary statement from the ravenette. Sure, he'd claimed a few girls for himself, especially those high-ranking in the harem, but something was different about him. He seemed more thrilled to be able to claim (Y/n), holding her close with a strange expression. It was laced with both affection and deprivation as if he'd been dragged out of a darkness. What darkness, not even Asuka knew, staring at the male, her brows furrowed.
The (h/c) haired girl had the strangest reaction, pushing the male away and giving him an almost upset look. She didn't seem to be in on whatever he was doing, something that greatly unnerved her. The ravenette only chuckled and grabbed onto her hand gently, pressing it to his lips before letting his smirk spread further. He held onto her hand, stroking the back of it with his thumb, enamored with the feeling.
"I'm sorry, girly," Sora chuckled, bringing her in for a soft hug before burying his hands in her hair, "Don't know when it started, but I'm in love with you. I want you to be mine. What do you say?"
"Knock it off, dipshit," Asuka said calmly, stepping up to the ravenette and glaring at him, "Don't mess with her."
"I'm not kiddin'," he scoffed, holding the (h/c) haired girl a bit tighter, but not tight enough to make her feel uncomfortable, only feeling protected, "I fucking love her."
"You love yourself," the orange-haired girl continued, hearing the footsteps of Enmei coming behind her, "There's no fucking way you would love anyone else. Stop messing with her feelings or I'll make sure you can't fuck anyone for a week."
"I love you, dumbass," Sora growled, narrowing his eyes, "Loved Emi, too."
Asuka paused, a frown appearing along with a despairing expression. She didn't say anything for a moment, likely affected by the mention of her younger sister, but when she made up her mind, her look changed. It appeared more like she was ready for battle than anything else, but it softened when she looked at (Y/n). Reaching her hands out, she gave a saddened smile, watching as the younger girl took her hands.
"Why don't you and Enmei go for a walk or something?" she suggested, "I don't want you to be a part of this. Feel free to use the games in my room if you'd like, okay?"
Though the (h/c) haired girl felt the need to stay, Enmei shook his head and led her away, giving her an expression that said things would only escalate between the two. Thus, she followed the grey-haired boy, leaving the two behind to argue the day away. At the same time, she felt shivers go up her spine as if something irreversible was beginning to happen. She couldn't shake the feeling, the air around her becoming cold as if something was trying to call out to her. But (Y/n) could not hear the little ghost crying for her attention.
