"Hands on your heads!" One of the guards barks out.

Sweat trickles down Bellamy's temple and spine as anger boils in his chest. He should've known better. He shouldn't have let them get caught. He should've been more prepared.

Failure. Failure. Failure.

He couldn't have known Hughie was going to come to their rescue, so he really had nothing to prepare for. But he wears the responsibility as if it is his to bare alone. Suffrage. His specialty.

His team, his responsibility.

Light blares behind them, lighting up the room. A scream ripples through the air before an agent is thrown over their heads and the light fades. Hughie and Frenchie are the first to snap their heads around and Hughie rises to his feet, Frenchie following while Bellamy remains cautious for a moment longer.

Electrical sparks spray down from the light above as Starlight, Annie, walks forward, throwing a blast towards another agent when one comes up behind her. She swings, punching him she sends him to the ground. One charges towards her and she sends him up to ceiling screaming with a blast.

Bellamy feels an aching hollowness in the pit of his stomach, chest tightening at the harsh fact of reality that Cass and his brother were really gone. He didn't expect them to show, but seeing Starlight standing before them to help hurt more than he'd like to admit.

Would Billy and Cass end up dead? Would they truly accomplish what they want to first?

Part of him felt immense pride that she is so close to doing it. After what felt like fighting to dig through mud with his bare hands to have Cass let him in, she did. He knows the twisted mix of pain and emotions tied to her mother, he knows the inner battle she has about despising the woman more than anything while simultaneously wanting to seek revenge for her as well.

And another part of him was terrified he would truly never see her again. And he suddenly found himself questioning every little piece of their last interaction, wondering what would happen if it was their last.

"You came." Hughie breathes out, pulling Bellamy out of the fog of his tortured mind.

Annie pauses for a moment. "Like you said... I'm a fucking superhero."

Bellamy clears his throat. "We need to go."

Bellamy's first to kick through a door, Frenchie and M.M. lugging Kimiko behind him, Hughie and Annie in tow.

"Hughie, check the doors." M.M. orders, pointing across the room.

Bellamy scans the room carefully as Hughie hurries over to the doors, panting out of breath. He presses a few buttons in the fuse box.

"Is it working?" M.M. asks.

"No, no, no, um...."

"Fuck." M.M. lets out.

"Try this." Frenchie nods his head towards the three buttons beside the garage. "Yes." One of the garages begins to open. M.M. and Frenchie bend underneath it with Kimiko first, Bellamy sliding under beside them."Go. Go, go, go." Annie waves Hughie under.

"Holy shit." A voice forces everyone to freeze and turn to find A-Train. Bellamy curses to himself for having no weapon as Hughie backs out from under the garage.

"Oh, shit." He mutters. He presses the button, hurrying to shut the door and keep himself on the other side. Bellamy springs to his feet effortlessly.

"No. Hughie, let's go." M.M. demands.

"Go! I'll be okay. Go."

Thunder sounds from outside as Madelyn and Butcher stare each other down while Cass looks off, watching the multicolor specks of light dance around the open air.

Her mother should've been left to rot in her own dissaray. She should've never even met Homelander, little long come close to doing so. Whatever foolish attempt at whatever she was trying to play... Cass knows she shouldn't have to pay for it.

After all the years of sleepless working nights, countless shattered bottles, stained carpet, rugs, and walls, splintered tables, shouting, throwing, no water, no electricity, embarrassment, shame...

Yet the thought of the 'greatest supe' Homelander pouncing on the opportunity to murder a woman who was simply desperate for her next fix shows how fucking bored he must be. What did she do to him? Who knows. Cass has simply wondered the same thing for many years. What has she not done? But, enough to provoke the violent death of the fucking man baby? She must have went out with dignity.

A whooshing slam reaches Cass ears pulling her out of her nuanced thoughts. Madelyn and Butcher glance up to the ceiling as a satisfying smirk reaches the young Mallory's lips.

"Well, well, well." Butcher speaks up. "About fucking time." He glances back at Cass before looking back up. "We know you can see through the ceiling. You try to kill me, or her," He points back at Cass, "And my trigger finger goes soft." He holds up the detonator that's the point between life and death for Stillwell.

Cassius squints, her eyes making out darker spots of where she assumes Homelander is, though it disappears almost as soon as it she notices it.

"Now... why don't you stop playing rapey Santa... and come down and join us?" Butcher finishes. Madelyn turns as Homelander emerges from around the corner, shushing he holds his gloved finger up to his lips, Madelyn's baby in his arms.

"Take it easy." Homelander speaks softly. "We don't want to upset Teddy, right?"

"What are you doing?" Madelyn's voice spikes with panic, causing Cass's lips to curl. Good. Makes things easier.

"Hey, look: Mommy." Homelander all but ignores her fret, pointing to her as he walks over. "You alright?"

"No." She answers blatantly.

"Madelyn." Homelander says firmly.

"Take him upstairs." She demands.

"All good. I got it." Homelander breezes, walking by her before spinning back around. "I got it." His gaze then lands on Cass and Butcher.

Homelander inhales sharply through his nose. "Billy Butcher. You don't mind if I call you Billy, right?" Silence. "And Cassius Mallory."
