Ivy

"I might cry." Ivy said to herself as she entered the gigantic library. Walls and shelves, all filled with books of every shape and size. The length of the building could have easily covered a football field, maybe more. Alumni students meld around the bookshelves, picking out an occasional book from the shelves. Most only sat in front of computers, clicking through browser after browser.

Ivy's eyes scanned the room, glimpsing from a small girl with short, brown hair whom was jumping to grab a book on the top shelf, to a tall girl with startling yellow eyes sitting in a cosy chair, a pile of books stacked next to her.

That's what Ivy loved about libraries. So many different people came, but all for one reason. To learn. Wether it be about a fanciful world of simply to brows the World Wide Web, everybody in a library wanted to learn something.

With her bags already dropped off, Ivy still had about an hour simply explore the campus. Aka stock up on books while spending all of her time in the library. She had heard rumors of the massive library at Beacon but nothing could have prepared her for this. It's as if Heaven shined down on this one particular plot of land, intending to make Ivy's life wonderful.

She began strolling through the shelves, smiling at books she had read, frowning at others she never intended to open, and reading the back of anything that caught her attention. By the time she was done she had at least 10 books stacked into her arms, precariously balancing on of one another.

"Do you need some help with that?" A male voice asked. Ivy looked around the pile of books to see a Faunus boy, red fox ears peaking from strawberry blonde hair. "I could hold some, if you want."

"That would actually be really good, thank you." She grinned, taking the four books at the top of her pile and handing them to him.

"Darker than night?" The Faunus asked, glancing over the title of one of Ivy's books. "What's that about?"

"It's a series." Ivy said, reaching blindly for her bag once she got to the table she had left her things at. "Fifth one. If I explained it to you we would be here all day." She finally grasped the familiar canvas straps and swung it swiftly across her shoulder before continuing to where the librarian sat.

"Out of the way, freshies!" Kids shouted, running in between the two. They looked older than Ivy, maybe even seniors. Not that anyone else could tell. People were always mistaking Ivy for being older than she really was.

She was about to make a remark, one that an elderly person might have had her wash her mouth for, but she was cut off by the Faunus boy sniggering. So instead of making a snappy comeback, she turned to her new acquaintance. "What's so funny?"

"Look at their backs." He smirked, a devilish look in his eye.

She craned her neck to see the back of the older kids' shirts, which each had signs taped onto them. 'Losers coming through' was written in bold letters on two prices of paper that had been taped to their backs. Normally Ivy was above such immature acts but, seeing as they had nearly just run her over, a small smile wasn't out of the question.

"By the way," she said, turning to the boy who was holding half of her latest 'must reads'. "I never did catch your name."

"Chess." He winked a gold eye at her. "Short for Chester but Chess is what everyone calls me." His strawberry blonde hair flopped over one of his eyes and he blew furiously at it to move.

"And who is everyone, might I ask?" Ivy raised an eyebrow, coming to a halt behind a girl whom was checking out her fair share of books as well.

"Anybody who asks." He shrugged and set the pile of books on the counter in front of the librarian, who couldn't have looked less thrilled to file all of the books. "Well this has been fun." Chess clapped his hands together and began moving backwards. "And who knows? Maybe I'll see you around . . ."

"Ivy." She smiled. "That's what anybody who asks calls me."
