Blue jays loud crying

Deep within the trees

Warning all wildlife

Watch small critters flee

Small birds disappear

Squirrels hide in thick bush

Gaze up in blue sky

Looking for hawk's rush

But I see no hawks

Then I hear leaves flush

See a streak of white

Dash in front of bush

Takes a hard right turn

Deep into dark woods

Don't know what it was

Blurred from where I stood

Blue jays quiet down

Then birds reappear

Mystery unsolved

Danger's cause unclear
