Gurgle, gurgle, down green gutter

Raindrops flowing as clouds sputter

Birdsong surrounds as my pen writes

I take a peek at feathered sight

Peanuts strewn across wood deck

Blue jays, titmouse hunt and peck

Chickadee, small flying ball

Flits around rock garden wall

Sparrow striped with brown and white

Zooms in fast with all his might

Joins the fray; a feeder fight

Finch with red head holds on tight

Cardinal couple hops around

Seeking seeds that fell to ground

Neighbor's dog emits low woof

Birds retreat with soft wing poof

Moments later birds fly back

Under roof pursue seed snack

Feeder rocks with noisy flock

Nearby lightning cracks and shocks

Air is ringing with rain roar

Gutters gush with hard downpour

Birds have shelter, nuts and seed

Rainy day will not impede
