Deep in dark woods

there is a pond

Where I can sit

watch nature bond

Does come to drink

right at the edge

There lies black snake

on a rock ledge

Pollywogs swim

near grass shoreline

While overhead

vines intertwine

Light is not bright

dappled instead

Great place to doze

lay down my head

Meadow lark sings

up in a tree

Hear the soft buzz

of bumblebee

Fish jumps in air

lands with a splash

Wake to the sound

it's time to dash

Race through dark wood

sun coming down

Time to go home

back into town
