Late Summer Creep
I know late summer is here
When the spider webs appear
In corners of roof top deck
Web spotted with insect specks
They hide in roof eaves by day
By night they capture their prey
At dusk I sit on wood deck
To watch spiders evening trek
Thumb sized spiders start to spin
As dark night is moving in
Spiders spin their sticky traps
For a night of bug kidnaps
Sometimes they stretch sticky webs
Between house and garden beds
When walking sidewalk at night
Sticky strands in face a fright
I know late summer is here
When the spider webs appear
By autumn webs disappear
Small egg case left for next year
