Taking a break

From crazy day

Step out on deck

To ease my fray

Set out peanuts

For feathered friends

Sink into chair

Where my mind mends

Frazzled mind stares

At the deck rail

As birds drop in

For peanut trail

Tempers are short

Squabbles break out

Feet strikes begin

Wings flap about

My eyebrows rise

At feathered clash

Two blue jays fight

Wings and feet bash

Pecking order

Has turned around

As cardinals chase

And blue jays bound

Guess summer's heat

Taking a toll

Chuckle a bit

As my eyes roll
