Chapter 293: -Sana- Jan Ken Pon

The warm breeze was mild, due to the threat of rain. It was still off in the distance. Even so, it wasn't too muggy. But, how could I focus on the rain, when Tetsu was standing with his back to me wearing a gorgeous dark red kimono? A gold obi that he'd worn before was around his torso, an orange obi-jime tied, too. The sleeves of the kimono looked dipped in black, and so did the bottom. A purple spray of flowers was on the bottom, too. It was more of a plain furisode, but the effect was gorgeous. Paired with his black wig, up in a French twist again with some curls out, the overall look was breath-taking to me.

He turned, and his full lips were a dark red that matched the kimono. He smiled, glancing back at me. I straightened up in my lawn chair, smiling back. Around me, Lyra members were strewn about our lawn furniture, taking a break. Some were on their phones, and Masaki was playing a handheld gaming console quite seriously.

Tetsu was showing off our yard to his mom. She'd come with us today, thoroughly interested in what we were doing. She'd watched us all morning, clapping and telling us encouraging things. She'd helped adjust Tetsu's obi to what she thought was right. She was wearing her own kimono, one in a pretty, subdued aqua color. It was paired with a tan colored obi. Her ensemble was great for every day wear, but Tetsu's was so much fancier, done in a way where it trailed on the floor. He had tied it up now, though, exposing his layer underneath. It was safe from the grass that way.

I watched him point up at our maple tree. "It's going to look so beautiful in the Fall. I hope we come back soon enough to see it," he was saying to her.

"You will. You're coming back around Halloween, right? It will be in full color then."

Tetsu's hand went to his cheek. "You're right. Though, I saw on Keitaro's blog that he plans to stay in New York for a little while after the tour. I wonder what that's about?"

"I'm ordering food," Nobu said, his voice going over Tetsu's a little bit. He was tapping on his cellphone. "Anyone want anything? I'm getting Indian food. Apparently there's a pretty good place around here. I was surprised."

Tetsu's face tilted and his hand went with it. His wrist was gorgeous, his sleeve slipping down just a little, exposing a red jade bangle from my collection. "I hope he's not thinking about moving there. I'm going to have to talk to him... He wouldn't get me to join Fleeting World and then abandon me, right?"

"Pass," Masaki said, responding to Nobu. He was into his video game more than ever.

"What do they have? I could eat," Yami shrugged. He tapped on his own phone. "What is the place called?"

Nobu leaned over and pointed as Yami scrolled. His finger went down on Yami's cellphone, and Yami nodded in confirmation.

"We're going to eat sandwiches," Shizue said, not even looking up from her phone. She was lounged on one of the couches, her legs over Hikaru's lap as he stared at his own phone.

Tetsu's head turned to me. "Food?" He asked. His eyes were dazzling, so big looking with his makeup. They appeared that much larger when they widened, making my heart quicken in his beauty. "What time is it?" He started coming over to me anyway.

I flicked my wrist up, activating my watch. It showed me my heart rate on the first screen. I poked it to show the time. "It's 12:30," I said. My eyebrows creased, trying to focus on my hunger level. I didn't feel too hungry. I felt pretty good, in fact. Better than I had for the past few days. So much more energy.

"Ah, we should eat then." His voice had a self scold to it. I wanted to kiss that away. There was nothing to be ashamed of. He came to me, his hands going to mine. They met, and his fingers curled over mine. He sat down next to me, his thigh pressed to my own. It was so warm and soft, the silk slippery and smooth. His shame came out more, though. "I should have been looking at the time. You should have eaten thirty minutes ago. I'll find something for us to eat, okay? What do you want to eat?"

My hands glided over his, trying to assure him. "We had a big breakfast. I'm not too hungry. It's okay. What do you want to eat?" He'd been dancing in overdrive mode this morning, getting in as much as possible. He must have built up an appetite from that.

"Uhhh..." His eyes flicked up the sky and then to the side. I was mesmerized.

I squeezed his hands, unable to contain my smile. Those eyes flicked to me again. I had to sigh.

"What?" He asked. An immediate grin was on his face. I sighed again, pressing my lips together. He leaned in to me so fast, those eyes now so close to my face. Too much! I let out a squeal, squeezing his hands, smiling way too much. "Whaaat?" He laughed. His expression got so serious. "Is there something on my face?" But he was laughing with me just as soon.

He knew exactly why. I'd told him about million times how pretty he is today. Just like that, his lips were all over my face, planting tiny kisses quickly. I wiggled in my overwhelming love, squeaking with each kiss. He straightened up, laughing at me. "Why are you so cute? Oh, I can't- I can't-" He breathed hard, trying to catch his breath, laughing too much.

"Hey, Tetsu, the sandwich place we ordered from also does pita sandwiches. Those can be pretty tasty. You two want to try some?" Shizue asked. "I bet there isn't as much bread in those."

We parted from each other, looking over to her. My blush had to be as red as Tetsu's kimono. "Ooh, maybe," he said. "There's some ingredients that we have to avoid, but that sounds pretty different. We can look at it." He caught my gaze again, that smile making my world. "Want to try it?" He asked me. I nodded so fast. Showing my eagerness.

"Okay, good. The place is called The Mediterranean."

"The what?" Tetsu asked. "Meh-dee-teh..." He pulled his phone out of his obi swiftly. His sleeve went down again, exposing the bangle as he held his phone up. My eyes were drawn to it immediately, drinking it in. It was almost forbidden when he was wearing something like this, that strip of skin.

His mom sat down heavily nearby us on a loveseat. "I'll take one, too. That sounds interesting."

"I'll read out the options," Tetsu said, occupied with finding the restaurant. "We'll UberEats it. Is it on UberEats?"

"Yeah, it is," Shizue nodded. She was paying attention to us now. "There's a wide variety, and you can build your own. I thought that was a good option for Sana."

"Ooh, yes." He gasped, pausing momentarily, looking up at her. That smile was back, making me smile automatically, too. The way he looked now, I was entranced. He looked like a goddess. I realized that I was full of love for him, so proud of him. It made me blush, and my gaze went down to my knees. The smile wouldn't leave my face. His hand was still in my hand. I was so in love, that I didn't know what to do with myself. Almost embarrassed, all these people here. Overwhelmed with this feeling.

All morning, I'd watched him dance and sing. He was a vision of beauty and skill, and I'd found myself so at peace as he was in my line of sight. His happiness was apparent in everything he did, even if he was performing a sad song. That joy he had, able to finally dance again and sing, finishing choreography. Dancing in front of his mom, who seemed to be enjoying it as much as I did. This performance was a cut above from what we'd seen all week. It was polished, like something I'd see him perform in videos from so long ago. It made me be able to see what he'd be like on stage, imagine all those people watching. Finally, getting what he'd deserved, everyone adoring him. I adored him most of all, but his mom was close. It was hard to tell who loved him more, which one of us was more entranced. As he'd twirled about the room, his kimono trailing behind in measured movements, I'd gotten lost in his beauty. His passionate love of dance.

As he read all the options from the restaurant, I listened to his voice. The soft tones, warm and calm like the breeze upon us. He was taking care of us, even though he'd worked so hard this morning.

"Hmm, salami and black olives?" His mom tapped her chin in thought. "It sounds good to me."

Tetsu nodded, turning his attention back to his phone. "What else do you want on it? Hmm- ah, here we go. There's lettuce, tomato, peppers..." He read out more options.

In the end, I got a pita filled with shredded chicken, peppers, and tomato. As I ate it, I watched Tetsu carefully eat his. He held a napkin underneath taking small, neat bites. It occurred to me that he must know how to eat while wearing a kimono pretty expertly. He was sitting up formally, moving slowly. Concentrating. Careful not to spill any crumbs, or let any sauce leak. The table in front of us was too far away for him to eat on while looking polite, so instead he'd draped a few napkins on his lap additionally.

I was so absorbed in this, that I didn't notice the sauce getting on my own shirt. He had captured me that well.

"I- oh, Sana, look at you!" Shizue burst into giggles. "What a mess! Your pretty shirt!"

Tetsu jumped next to me. His eyes were all over me in a split second, searching me. His half eaten pita was wrapped in his napkin lightning fast and put on the table, one of the napkins from his lap in his hand quicker than I could react.

"Oh, shoot," I gasped in English, forgetting myself. I looked down, seeing the dressing on my chest just as Tetsu's brown paper napkin reached it. The dressing was dripping down, the oil being absorbed into the gauzy material above my sweetheart neckline. It covered the buttons that went up to the collar of it, too.

"That's okay," he said seriously, dabbing it away. He was getting so much of it off. "Did your pita leak? Here, I'll wrap the bottom in a napkin."

Surprising myself, I started to laugh. Where did that come from? Normally, I'd be so ashamed...

"What?" He asked. Ah, his smile was back, filling my heart with such love. That same feeling.

"My pita didn't leak. You're just so beautiful that I forgot what I was doing."

He paused, his mouth opening a little bit in surprise. His beauty was overwhelming me again.

"Aww," Shizue said, overhearing this. She may as well have been a million miles away. In fact, that went for everyone around us.

"I love you," I told him. "You're so beautiful that I made a mess-"

His kiss became my world. Enveloping everything. He tasted like beef and spicy peppers. Overwhelming me again. My arms wrapped around him, and his went around me, too.

Yami grumbled that he was eating somewhere in the distance, but I ignored him. I ignored everything else. Tetsu's love for me was the most important part of my universe. This beautiful creature that I'd observed all day, all mine and loving me. He was all mine, incredibly. Caring for me, ordering lunch for me, dancing and being joyful. I wanted him only to be happy, and he was happy in his moment. I'd make that be as long as possible.

"Save that for your wedding," Shizue remarked.

His lips unlocked from mine, that smile there. A blush was on his cheeks, pinking up from under his makeup, blushing that hard. I may as well have been on another planet, he'd taken me there. In a daze from that kiss.

"I want to have a wedding soon," he said. He looked over to her, his profile just as striking as anything else about him.

"Can I be a bridesmaid? I have so many ideas." She bounced in her seat. "Oh my god, I have so many ideas."

"Yes, of course you already are," Tetsu chuckled, his hand going over his mouth to cover this as his body parted from mine.

"Yay!" She gasped, her whole face brightening. He started laughing, and I couldn't strop grinning.

Our wedding. I sighed silently next to him, still off in our own world. Our wedding... I couldn't think of anything better. I wanted to discuss it, too. My hand slid under Tetsu's arm, and I put my cheek on his shoulder. "Let's talk about this," I said, smiling so freely.

"Really?" Tetsu grinned. I nodded vigorously. His grin got impossibly bigger. His eyes squeezed together, reflecting the sky as he peered up. His lips pressed together, as he gazed at the sky, in thought. "Well, if we're talking about it. I want to say that when we get married, I want to wear a dress-"

The noises of elation from Shizue and Tetsu's mom were deafening. Tetsu was laughing so hard immediately, pleased with their reaction.

"I want to see your dress," I said, rubbing my cheek on his shoulder.

"Not until the wedding!" Shizue gasped, taking over. "We have to make plans! When are you two going to have it? Oh, I'm so excited! I get to be a bridesmaid!"

"Whoa, whoa, whoa. If Shizue gets to be a bridesmaid, then I get to be groomsman," Nobu said, putting down his fork, paying attention now.

"If you get to be one, then I do," Masaki said, adjusting his glasses on the bridge of his nose with his middle finger casually. "I look good in a suit, you know."

"I'm going to be Best Man," Yami announced. We'd never said anything like that to him. It made me burst into giggles.

"What, why you?!" Nobu's fork clattered into his nearly empty takeout container. His face was already getting mad.

"Why wouldn't I be?!" Yami's voice was raising.

"Time out!" Masaki called out, even louder, in English. They both fell back into their chairs in huffs.

All I could do was laugh. Just too happy. Beside me, Tetsu could barely contain his laughter, too.

"Okay, Jan Ken Pon," Nobu said seriously, already putting his fist in his hand.

"What?! This is way too important for Jan Ken Pon!" Yami was scandalized.

"Jan Ken Pon," I snickered to myself. Sudden warmth was slipping behind my back, and I looked up, gasping a little. So close to me, Tetsu was now pulling me to his body. Hugging me to himself from the side. His smile was so wide, too, dazzling me again.

I was so happy and full of love that I didn't know what to do with myself. As I listened to the slight wind rattling in our maple tree, and our wind chime singing with the coming rain on the breeze, I sighed in my merriment as I watched Nobu and Yami start to fight again.
