Chapter 139: -Sana- Forbidden Fruit

"You don't want to eat? Just one bite."

My eyes were closing for small periods of time, dreams flashing behind my eyelids, my chin going down. It was rude, but my eyes closed again and I felt my body relax against the back of my chair.

"Sana's not hungry?" Tetsu's papa asked.

I breathed in a long breath, and opening my eyes at his voice. He was staring at me from across the table, his chopsticks half risen to his mouth. A delicious looking cut of beef was between them.

I shook my head. My own plate was full of lovely chicken and snow peas, with a nice sauce. It smelled gorgeous, but my stomach was too full. It made no sense. I'd eaten so long ago. It was important for me to eat, but there was no will.

"I'm sorry," I said to Tetsu, who was offering me a dewy piece of chicken. I wanted to be fed by him more than anything. Just the idea of it, all his attention on me, smiling every time I took a bite. But, I couldn't.

"I can make something else," his mom offered. My shoulders tensed up at this. She shouldn't have to think that. It wasn't the food that was the problem. But, I knew they were all worried. I couldn't skip meals. I didn't want to worry them. But, if I ate anything, I might throw up, and that was even worse.

I shook my head a little bit. "It's not that. I like this food. Thank you for making it. I just feel full."

"But, you didn't eat much at lunch," Tetsu said, lowering his chopsticks onto his plate. His eyebrows creased with concern. "Are you feeling okay?" The back of his hand went to my forehead, and I closed my eyes again. I began to drift.

"I'm tired," I admitted.

"You can eat later," his mom said, making shuffling noises. "I'll wrap up your food."

"Okay. Thank you." My chin went down again, and I opened my eyes. "I'm sorry."

"No need to be sorry." Tetsu cupped my cheek, still checking me over, his eyes searching.

"Why don't you take Sana into the living room?" His papa asked. "We'll be done soon. The game is on later, anyway. Maybe we can order something Sana will like to eat, and we can watch it."

My cheeks were blushing. How could I convey that it wasn't the food? I was being so rude. My cheeks were getting even more hot, thinking this.

"Yeah, that sounds good," Tetsu said, full of concern, never taking his eyes off me. He took my hand, and I closed my eyes again.

On the couch, I was laying with my head on a pillow on Tetsu's lap. I wasn't asleep, but maybe dozing. Too tired. My stomach was bloated, definitely. The announcers of the baseball game were talking excitedly, and I was trying to follow it.

Images of random buildings were sparkling in front of my eyelids, drifting me off to sleep, when Tetsu's papa spoke.

"What kinds of foods does Sana like to snack on?" He asked, quietly and quickly.

"Oh..." Tetsu responded, surprise in his voice. His arm tightened around me as he adjusted himself a little bit. I sighed in this, and he made a cute noise. His finger started to trace my hair line, and the flashing images became more intense. "Hmm. He doesn't snack much. There aren't many snack foods he can eat."

"Snack foods are not healthy," his mom piped up, across the room in her chair. "Maybe a meal that he likes."

It wasn't the food. The images stopped on my eyelids, and I opened my eyes slightly. My stomach pinched, guilt inside of it. Even if they found a food I really wanted to eat, eating it now wasn't a good idea.

My eyes closed fully again, too tired to think anymore.

They were silent for a few moments. My eyes opened slightly again, as Tetsu gasped. "I've got it." His arm swept up my back, making my eyeballs go up into my head in pleasure. He was moving around so much, and then stopped. My eyes closed again.

I woke up to the sound of the doorbell. "I'll get it," Tetsu's papa said, grunting, getting out of his chair. "This was a good idea."

"Thank you," Tetsu breathed.

How long had I been asleep?

"Um," he said, a bit sheepishly, "I know what I ordered isn't exactly healthy, but I know Sana will eat it. Maybe that's what matters. He needs to eat."

"It's been a long time, right? Since he's eaten it? It's like a treat then. That's okay," his mom assured him. "Besides, you ordered desserts for us, too. We all get a treat."

Since I'd eaten what?

And then I smelled it. Ohh. A rustling bag overtook the baseball game for a few moments, and I breathed in deeply. This smell was heaven to me. The forbidden fruit.

"Thank you," Tetsu said quietly. Rustling met my ears, and I opened my eyes. Tetsu was fiddling with a small bag, and a familiar little box with golden arches on it came out of it. In a fluid motion, he put the bag on the floor next to the couch, and opened the little box. Carefully, he started to take the breading off of the chicken nuggets inside.

He'd remembered. So long ago it seemed, we'd gone to McDonald's together. We'd only gone a couple of times, and the last time was a nightmare. I'd had a bad high sugar reaction due to mistakenly drinking full sugar Coke, and we never went again.

But, both times, I'd ordered a Happy Meal for myself, and sat there at the table taking the breading off my chicken nuggets. I'd explained why, but in the process I'd also told him how special McDonald's was to me.

It was silly, a stupid reason, really. I'd shared with him, with a smile, about how when I was growing up, we never had fast food. McDonald's was the ultimate forbidden meal. It was deemed low class, not for us. My mom rose her nose to it, and my siblings and I had to endure riding by countless McDonald's in Hawaii. Throughout my childhood, I'd wanted to taste it so badly. It was a part of American culture, a staple. And I, an American, had never eaten it.

When I got out on my own, I'd told him with a laugh, one of the first things I'd done was get McDonald's chicken nuggets.

"Isn't that ridiculous?" I'd asked him, taking the breading off my nuggets as I spoke. "But, it was the most delicious thing I ever tasted, because I could finally have it. It's my favorite. I can't eat them very often, because I know they're not good for me, but they're special to me. It's like tasting freedom."

"Oh, Sana," he'd said, taking my wrist and then my greasy hands, unexpectedly looking so sad. "That's not ridiculous at all. We'll come here whenever you want. I don't mind."

"You don't think it's kind of...how do I put this...too cheap, or?" As I said this, he'd smiled, his eyes so full of love even that early on.

"If you like it, I like it," he'd said to me, making my heart bloom into a million colors.

And now here we were. He'd remembered. But, of course he did. He rose his fingers to his mouth, sucking on them one by one, getting the grease off. I made movements, letting him know I was awake.

"Oh!" He grinned, seeing me staring at him finally. "I ordered some McDonald's for you. Are you hungry?"

I wasn't. That was the truth. But, he'd tried so hard for me, and it smelled so delicious. I nodded on my pillow.

"Okay, I'm going to sit you up."

I sighed deeply as he helped me get into a sitting position next to him. Immediately, I smiled, putting my head on his shoulder. He put the little box on his lap, and rose a small chicken morsel to my lips. I opened my mouth, and he smiled as I took it in. It was a gorgeous taste, so juicy and flavorful.

"Is it good, Sana?" His mom asked, half chuckling. She took the top off her ice cream, putting her spoon inside.

"Mm-hmm," I sighed happily, still chewing.

"I'm glad it worked out. This really was a good idea," his papa chimed in. A similar plastic noise came from his direction. He had ice cream, too.

I rubbed my cheek on Tetsu's shoulder, gazing up at his face in love. He rose another morsel up to my lips, his own mouth parted a little as he fed me. I was in heaven.

Afterwards, he rubbed my tummy. I laid face up to him, my head on the pillow on his lap once more. He rubbed through my t-shirt, and it was so warm. He'd eaten his ice cream after I was done with my food, and watching him do this was heaven again.

Even after french fries and chicken, my device's app hadn't gone off. He'd manually checked it, and everything was fine. It was kind of odd, but I had to trust what it said.

I was way too full now. Uncomfortably so. But, him rubbing my tummy was helping a bit. Soothing me.

He gasped, and I jumped a little. "Oh," he said to himself, fumbling into his pocket. His cellphone fell out, and he picked it up hurriedly. He looked at it, and stabilized it, pressing around the screen.

"What is it?" His papa asked. He sounded so content. The baseball game was ending, and it had been a satisfying one. Neither of our teams were playing, but it had still been enjoyable.

"I had an idea," Tetsu said, obviously texting now. "I'm texting Yokohara-sensei."

"Yokohara-sensei?" His mom asked, suddenly alert. "Are you worried about something?"

"No, nothing like that. It's just..." He bit his lip in thought, making a small blush warm my cheeks. He looked over at his mom, and then his papa. "Yokohara-sensei said Sana needs to gain weight. That it's good for him. What makes people gain weight, right? McDonald's does."

"Oh, you're right!" His mom gasped.

"Very smart," his papa remarked, pleased.

"Thank you," he said. "I'm texting to ask her if it's okay if he eats it more often. If that's an okay kind of food to gain weight with. I know the cholesterol can't be good, things like that, but Sana is on a cholesterol medication anyway, because of his fluctuating testosterone. So, maybe it's okay."

"I didn't know he's on a cholesterol medication," his mom said, a curious tone in her voice.

"Yes, he's on a lot of medications that I wouldn't have guessed, either," he said, smiling now. He gazed down at me, stopping his texting. He lowered his phone, and his hand was in my hair, gliding through it. My eyes closed, so in pleasure that I sighed again. "Do you want to eat McDonald's more often?" He asked me now, my hair flowing through his fingers again.

I just nodded, so happy. He chuckled a little. His phone vibrated, and he picked it back up, reading what was on the screen. I closed my eyes one more time, immediately going into good dreams.
