"Ouch!"
Lyra bumped into a tall figure, and with a thud she landed roughly on the ground, cringing she got up quickly brushing herself off apologizing profusely.

"I'm so sorry Professor! I didn't see you! I know I shouldn't be up at this hour but I-" Lyra cut herself off as she finally realized that she had not run in to a professor, but one of the Weasley's.

"Oh, your not a professor," Lyra said matter of factly.

"What gave it away?" he deadpanned.

They locked eyes and laughed hysterically clutching their stomachs.

When George gained control of his laughter again he wiped the tear from his eye and stuck out his hand.

"George Weasley prankster extraordinaire! You must be Malfoy's sister," he smiled.

She rolled her eyes, "yes I am but just call me Lyra," He saluted her in response.

George studied her face closer and realized she was sad, he couldn't tell by her facial expressions or her body language but her eyes, her eyes were the dead give away. No matter how hard she masked her emotions her eyes just seemed to betray her.

"Hey," he said, "your new so how about we sneak into the kitchens and make some food...Swap life stories...Ya know the whole shebang."

Lyra, for the first time in a long time, gave a genuine smile and nodded.

"You had me at food..."

George ended up showing Lyra  the secret entrance to the kitchen (by tickling the pear)
When she asked him where he got the information he simply told her he had connections in Hufflepuff.

"ooohhh connections!" she said jokingly.
George laughed with her, "it's true I swear!"

They continued to share stories while sitting on the kitchen counter eating mint chocolate chip ice cream.

George and Lyra didn't notice but as far as anyone could see they had a connection, people would have looked at them and thought they had known each other for years and years, yet they had only met 2 hours prior.

It was as if the stars had aligned and they were right where they had always meant to be.

George had a twinkle in his eyes as he spoke about his prank where he made Percy turn blue, Lyra had on the most genuine of smiles and big hand gestures as she spun off a story about her old classmates. No 2 people could have fit as well as they did, just like puzzle pieces...

"I almost got expelled! Headmistress Maxime was so mad I literally could see steam coming out of her ears! However, since my mother had been a former student there they let me stay. But I couldn't stand it any longer, honestly everyone walking around like they were better than you, that snobbish energy, ugh I couldn't do it anymore so I begged to get transferred here."

George nodded, "I still can't believe that you covered her entire office in slugs I mean that's genius! You should join my brother and I, we want to open a joke shop one day and I think you could really help us out!"

"Yeah,I would love too! When can I meet your family and friends?"

"Umm, maybe in like 4 hours when it's time for breakfast, we should probably head back up to the dorms before Finch catches us here."

Lyra put away the ice cream and they left.

As they walked George began to question Lyra.

"I don't mean to pry but what were you doing out of bed anyways?"

"What were you doing out of bed?" She shot back.

"Hey don't try and trick me I asked first!"

Lyra sighed, "well the girls in my dorm wouldn't be quiet so I was gonna go for a walk but then I met up with Theodore Nott who is as of now my ex boyfriend, anyways he was just dating me to gain status because of my family I guess."

George gave her a sympathetic look, "I knew Nott was a git but I didn't think he was that much of a git, did you happen to give him the ole' one two punch?"

He swung his fists in mid air pretending there was an opponent in front of him.

"I wish, but I did scare him off, ran for the hills the coward."

"Ha, that doesn't surprise me," he said stopping in front of the portrait giving her the password.

"Well, I bide you sweet dreams" he said stopping in front of his dorm room.

"Wait you never told me why you were up so late!" Lyra said stopping him from entering his room.

"Let's just say Fred snores like a Hippogriff," George said before stepping in to the room and closing the door behind him.

Lyra snorted while closing her door behind her.

They both fell asleep thinking of each other and what was to come.

The next morning George woke up to the annoying sound of Fred's snoring once again.

He growled in annoyance and threw a pillow at him from across the room.

"Oi! What the bloody hell was that for?"

"Just get up you oaf! I have so much to tell you!"

"So your telling me that last night you met the older Malfoy sibling befriended her, flirted with her and said she could run our future business with us?" Fred said sceptically as they walked to the great hall.

George rolled his eyes, "I'm not lying mate, you'll see."

As they entered the dining hall they were immediately eat with chaos, people laughing others shouting friends eating even the professors seemed to be having a good morning.

They went and say beside Lee Jorden and Ron Harry and Hermione.

"You all will never believe what George over here was just telling m"

Fred stopped mid sentence when he noticed who just walked through the doors.

Lyra looked around the great hall scanning the tables, she locked eyes with her brother who gestured for her to come sit at the Slytherin table but after noticing Nott sitting beside him she shook her head.

She continued to look around until she saw exactly who she was looking for, George Weasley.

Lyra waved enthusiastically at him and walked over to her fellow housemates.

"Heya George! Hi everyone!"

Ron shockingly stopped eating shocked that he was witnessing a Malfoy talking in a friendly manner to him, Harry's eyes went wide and he dropped his fork on the ground, Hermione peeled her eyes away from her book to study her.

Lyra turned to George who was motioning for her to sit, which she did. She then turned to Fred who had huge eyes and was making weird noises pointing to George than her.

"Let me guess you're Fred?" She said stifling a laugh.

He nodded wordlessly.

"Why are you hear?"Ron asked bluntly.

"Oh yeah right sorry," she laughed. "I'm Lyra Malfoy, please though just call me Lyra. I am a Gryffindor like you, not Slytherin which my family resents...have I missed anything?"

Harry was next to speak up, "your Gryffindor? A Malfoy really? How come your nice and the rest of your family is not?"

"Trust me Harry I have asked myself that very question my entire life."

Harry, Ron, George, Fred and Lee chuckled.

Hermione smiles at her and stuck out her hand, I'm Hermione Granger.

"Lyra shook it nodding, hi Hermione,"she said smiling.

A yelp came from across the room, all the Gryffindors looked to find Draco running out of the great hall screaming, he was being chased by a mouse.

The entire hall laughed especially the golden trio, even Hermione could not hold in her laughter.

He is deathly afraid of mice you know, Lyra said smirking.

"That was you wasn't it?" George asked her.

"No comment."

Oh you are so cool, you are now my best friend! Fred yelled out randomly hugging Lyra.

Her and the others smiled at Fred's childish behaviour and jumped back into their conversation.

Hermione stood up from her spot announcing she was going to the library before her first class. Ron and Harry rolled their eyes.

"I'm actually going to go on a run before class! Catch you guys later," Lyra said packing up her book bag.

"You run?"George asked.

She smacked the back of his head, "yes you idiot i can be active!"

"Ow, Merlin okay, okay geez!" He said rubbing his head.

Lyra grabbed a muffin and shouted "SAVE ME A SPOT IN CLASS LOSERS!" Running out the doors.

"Hey!" George, Fred and Lee yelled after her.
