Chapter Seventeen
~Declan~
It’s been four days and Aiden still has not came up to me and talked. I mean, I am still upset about everything. Considering that he does not know what he wants, that scares me. Tonight is the homecoming game. Plus the last game of the season. I never went to homecoming before and not planning on going either. I never went to prom either. I don’t know. Dances are sort of not my thing. Although I know how to dance pretty well, I just don’t like going to them anymore. The school day went by so fast. Everyone was so excited about homecoming. I honestly don’t know why. It is just a stupid dance. I have to be at the school in twenty minutes for the game. I grabbed some blood in the pantry so I can be a little bit stronger. I ran for the door when Vanessa stopped me. “Don’t hurt anyone tonight Declan. And be safe.” She smiled and gave me hug. I ran out the door and into my car. I pulled out the drive and headed to the school. My mind began to wonder off about Aiden. I love him so much. I know what I want and that is him. If he does not talk to me by the next couple days, I will know that he does not want to be with me. I pulled into the school parking lot and headed into the locker room. People started to stare at me. I looked at myself. Do I have something on me? I looked back at them confused and got changed into my gear. Number seven jersey. The number seven is my lucky number. Always has been for years. The coach walks in and blows his whistle. Everyone turns. “Alright you lousy children. You win this game tonight! Tear Riverside into pieces!” The coach yelled and the team cheered. We walked out of the locker room and I seen that Aiden was staring at me. Soon as I smiled he walked away. Really? That is how you want to play your game? I can play just as hard. I got on the field, starting at first line. Don’t let Aiden get in between my game tonight. I will not let him get in my head. I kept telling myself. “Ready?” Asked the ref. We both nodded. The ref lays the ball down on the ground and walks back. He blows the whistle and I grabbed the ball and threw it to Aiden and he caught it. He ran for the goal. I blocked everyone that was going after him. He throws the ball into the goal and the crowd cheers. We scored a few more points and so did the other team. The score board buzzes and half time is here. We are winning by 5. 12-7. We sat on the bench and the coach talked to us. We had to sit on the bench so the homecoming queen and king can be announced. People start coming to the field with lacrosse sticks and balls. What are they doing? I wondered. I looked away and grabbed a drink of water. I downed it instantly. I poured another cup of water and someone patted my shoulder. It was Lyla. “Hey.” I smiled. She smiled back and pointed at the field. I looked at her confused. “Come on.” She giggled and walked be out to the field. This is embarrassing. Everyone is staring. I looked down and in balls and lacrosse sticks read, “Declan, I finally grew the balls to ask you to homecoming. Will you go to homecoming with me? –A” Aiden… That tricky dog. Lyla turned me around and Aiden was standing behind me and smiled. He smiled back. He walked over to me. “I am so sorry for only thinking about myself. And I know what I want now…. And that is you Declan. I am so in love with you it is crazy. By saying all that, will you go to homecoming with me?” He asked me. I smiled so big that my smile was brighter than the moon light. I nodded and said of course. He put his hands on my cheeks. Everyone is looking. Oh Jesus. He smiled and kissed me. Everyone cheered in the stands. I giggled inside his mouth. He leaned back. We stared at each other for a few moments. His eyes melts my heart so much. I am so in love with him. Screw what I said about dances. This homecoming is going to be the best night of our lives. And that is for sure. The rest of the game went by fast. We won 15-6. “I’ll be over in a little.” Said Aiden at my car. “Alright.” I smiled and kissed him. He walked over to his truck and I watched him drive off. “Wow Declan. That was quite a proposal.” Said a familiar voice from behind me. I turned around and my mouth drops. I haven’t seen him for over a hundred years. This can’t be good.
