Blake POV

The next morning I taking a quick shower, before heading down to the dining hall to have breakfast.

I walk into the dining hall and everyone goes silent as I take my seat at the table. I look over to see that Tammy isn't in here yet. Good, because I'm not in the mood for her disrespect.

Once I start to eat, everyone else follows.

"Did you find out anything about the alpha king?" Fred ask me.

"I found out who his mate is and where she will be. I'll be going to get her in a week, forcing him to come to me." I tell him.

I look over at the door, watching Tammy walk into the room with Andy, looking up at him smiling. I glare at her before looking away, continuing to eat.

"The longer you and Tammy are this close, the pull of the mate bond will only grow stronger. Just don't go crazy and kill Andy if you do give in to the bond, he's still my best friend." Fred says, looking over at Tammy and Andy, as they take their seats at the other end of the table.

"Andy can have her. I'm not worried about giving in to the mate bond, she'll be long gone from here soon." I can feel the pull of the bond growing stronger and stronger every day. I'm sure she can feel the pull, but since all my senses are heightened, the pull is much stronger for me.

I never asked for this, so why would the goddess curse me with this.

Tammy may be beautiful, but there are endless numbers of beautiful women I can have. And I don't have to get emotionally involved like I would with Tammy. I have never been good with emotions. Emotions will only be my downfall.

I make eye contact with Tammy but quickly look away. I expected to come back to nothing, but instead I came back to a family that I didn't have before. I look over at the twins and Fred boys sitting at one of the other tables, talking and laughing with their friends while they eat. I hate that I wasn't here to watch them grow.

I glance over at Tammy, feeling the mate bond pulling at me. I see Andy hold a sausage to Tammy's mouth, letting her eat from his hands. It's a simple gesture, but amongst our kind that gesture means a lot when a female eats for a male hands.

Out of instinct a low growl rumbles from my chest as I glare at Andy. I grip the silverware in my hand, causing it to bend.

"Blake," Fred calls my name snapping me out of it. I push my beast back and loosen my grip on the silverware.

The pull of the bond is strong and her scent isn't making it any better.

I stand up and leave the dining hall. I need to get from her, away from her scent to clear my head. Once she's far from here, the distance will stop the pull.

I leave the castle and head into the forest. I walk through the forest, taking in the scent of the tree, dirt, berries, animals, everything. Helping me to get rid of Tammy scent.

"Come out, I know you're there." I look back to see Tammy's son come from behind the tree. He has been following me ever since I left out the dining hall.

"How did you know I was here, did you smell me?" He asks coming from behind the tree, walking up to me.

"You're not as quiet as you think you are kid." I could smell him, but I could also hear him.

"BJ is teaching me how to move quietly like the ninja turtles. And he's teaching me how to fight. I'm getting pretty good, come on let me show you my moves." He says, taking a fighting stance.

I look at this kid for a second. My beast is reacting to him the same way it does with the twins. I guess it's because of Tammy being his mother and our mate. My beast may not be happy about Tammy mothering a child with another male, but he's Tammy son, so my beast looks at this kid as his own.

He throws a roundhouse kick that I step back a little dodging. He throws a punch, but I reach out and catch his fist in the palm of my hand, before letting his hand go. This is one of the small things that I wasn't there for with the twins. I wasn't there to have little playful sparring matches like this. I wasn't there to train and teach them to fight.

He throws another punch, but I quickly move behind him. I trip him, causing him to fall on his ass.

"No fair, I can't move that fast yet." He says looking up at me.

I reach down and help him up from the ground. "What's your name?" I ask looking down at him.

"It's Adam." He dusts the grass and dirt off his pants, looking up at me.

"Why are you following me Adam?" I'm sure he doesn't suppose to be out in the forest. The forest is a dangerous place for a kid. There are many wild animals out here that could easily hurt or kill him.

"I wanted to see what you were doing. I never met a king before." He smiles, looking up at me. "Are you really my mother's mate?" He asks.

I let out a small sigh. "Go back to the castle, the forest isn't a place for a kid," I tell him ignoring his question as I walk away, heading deeper into the forest.

"If you two are really mates, then why aren't you together." He catches up walking next to me, ignoring what I just told him.

"I don't want her as a mate," I say looking over at him.

"Why not, do you two hate each other?"

"I don't hate her. She's weak and she made me weak." Tammy is a fragile human. She would always be the number one target if someone wanted to bring me down, like before. None of this would've happened if she wasn't a weak human.

I can't be there to protect her all the time. The mate bond will always make me put her first, before my duties as a king, clouding my judgment. As a king I have a duty to uphold and I can't let her get in the way of that.

"I don't think she's weak. She can be pretty scary when I don't clean my room." He says looking up at me, not paying attention to where he's going. Watching him trip over a stump, I reach out, grabbing the back of his shirt, stopping him from falling.

"Watch where you're going." I sit him back up straight on his feet and continue to walk.

"My father said his mate died, she's with the goddess now." He walks next to me looking down at the ground, making sure to step over every stump and fallen branch.

"I know," I remember Andy mate being killed when a group of rogues attacked their pack. Fred helps Andy track the pack of rogues down, killing them all to get Andy, daughter, back.

"I thought mates were supposed to love each other. Do you two not love each other?" He asks.

"Do you always ask so many questions?" I remember when Fred was his age. Fred always asked a lot of questions also. I guess that's just something kids do.

"Lisa told me that it's okay to ask questions. It's the only way to find out things you want to know." He shrugs his shoulders.

I guess he's right.

"Why don't you ever smile?" He looks up at me frowning a little.

I let out a sigh, know his questions weren't going to stop.

After walking through the forest with Adam for a while, answering question after question I head back to the castle. I make my way to the training room where I find BJ training his pack. They all look over at me, as I walk through the door.

"Everyone leave the room. I need to have a word with you." I say looking over at BJ. Everyone starts to head towards the door.

"Stop," BJ tells his pack as they head towards the door. "I'm busy, whatever you need to speak to me about can wait until I'm done." He looks away and starts to give his pack instructions. I glare over at him, letting out a loud roar.

"Leave now!!" They all quickly start to leave the training room.

"We need to get some things understood." I make my way over to him. "Just because you're my son doesn't mean I will allow you to get away with disrespecting me." If it was someone else, I would've killed them that very moment they chose to disrespect me. I won't kill my son, but I will sink my teeth and claws into him.

"I don't have time to listen to you complain about your ego being hurt." He says, turning around walking away, heading towards the door.

I let out a growl. Just telling him will not be enough. I have to show him that I mean what I say.

I grab him and slam him on the ground. "I said I will not allow it!" I let my dominance pour for me. I reach down grabbing him by his throat, lifting him off the ground.

I bring him closer to my face. "You will stand here and you will listen!" I tell him before removing my hand from around his throat.

He let out a deep growl. His eyes turn black and his teeth and claws start to elongate as he gets ready to shift. I let my Dominance fill the room, glaring at him.

"I suggest you think twice about what you're about to do because this won't be a fight you will walk away from. It's going to take you weeks to heal from this." I won't just attack him, I'll attack his inner beast stopping him from healing. He'll feel the pain of this beating. I need to show him that his actions have consequences.

I watch as his eyes change back to their normal brown, making the right choice. Because this would have ended very badly for him.

"You may think I'm an asshole with a big ego b-"

"Ginormous ego." He says glaring at me.

"Fine, But I could've come in here and did this in front of your pack, but that's not the way things are done." I may rule over the wolves with fear, but I also show them the same respect I expect for them to show me. When I have a problem with one of the alphas, I never disrespect them in front of their packs, because that will cause others to feel as they can do the same. Wolves are opportunistic creatures. If they see a chance for them to move to the top they will take it.

"I understand that you were protecting a member of your pack yesterday at the place of the royals. I wasn't trying to control your pack. I didn't know that vampire was mated to a wolf and was apart of your pack. If I knew that, then I wouldn't have agreed to hand him over to Draven." He did right to defend his pack, but he went about it all wrong.

"I'm not saying that you have to agree with everything I say or do, but there's a time and place when you voice your disagreement. And that time and place aren't in front of everyone." He can always wait until we're alone or he can voice his opinion through the mind link, but he seems to enjoy doing it in front of others.

"You may not understand how important this is right now, but one day you'll have my title as king, then you'll understand." Now that he has a pack of his own he'll start to learn the importance of having respect.

"BJ, I know you feel the need to prove that you're stronger than me, that's just your nature pushing you to be at the top. But you don't have to compete with me, because at the end of the day we're family and family means everything." I don't want him to look at me as someone he needs to be stronger than, because the more he tries and the more he fails at trying to best me, it will only push him away.

"You say family means everything. My mother is family, but you say things about her and treat her like she's nothing. If you don't want her as your mate fine, but I won't sit by and let you treat her like shit. She may not show it, but the things you say hurt her." He says.

I let out a sigh, knowing what I said about Tammy is part of the reason why BJ and I have been bumping heads.

"If it will make things better with us, then I won't mention her." I see that his mother means everything to him, so I won't bring her up. I don't want to ruin the relationship with my son, before we even have a chance to really get to know each other.

"We're good?" I ask.

He let out a sigh and give me a nod.

I reach out and place my hand on his shoulder. "I want to thank you and your mate for getting me out that box. If it wasn't for you I'll still be in there now." I tell him.

"As you said, family means everything." He tells me.
