                                    Lisa

While Lucious sleep, I stand at the bedroom window looking up at the beautiful night sky that's filled with stars.

I smile as Lucious smirking and smiling face pops into my head, as he tells me that I make him happy. It felt good to hear him say that I make him happy.

That was the first time I've seen that cocky smirk of his since I let him out that prison cell. It may seem like something simple, but that simple smirk and smile meant a lot.

I've been here for months and haven't seen him show that type of emotion towards me. I guess I just need to be patient with him to let him get past the hurt and anger he has balled up inside of him. Seems like he's slowly starting to move past all of this hatred and anger for revenge. Today I saw a glimpse of the guy I met in that prison cell.

"Lisa." I hear Lucious's sleepy voice call out to me. I look back, watching him slowly sit up on the bed. "Is something wrong?" He asks, looking over at me.

"No, everything is fine." I walk over, climbing back onto the bed next to him. I lay down into his arms, feeling him wrap around me. I take in a slow, deep breath, inhaling his scent, closing my eyes as I relax in his arms to sleep.

The next morning while Lucious shower, I head down to the kitchen to start on breakfast.

I go into the kitchen and start to make breakfast for Lucious and I. Hearing the kitchen door open, I look over watching as Tilda comes into the kitchen. She glares over at me as she walks over to the refrigerator.

I push the beast away as it pushes forward, deciding not to glare back at her. That's exactly what she wants. She wants to get a reaction from me, but I'm not going to give it to her.

I look away and continue cooking breakfast.

"You should've done everyone a favor and never came back here." I don't have to look over at her, but I can feel her eyes glaring into my back.

I keep my back towards her as I take the food out, not giving her my full attention. "This is my home now and I'm going to be here a really long time, so you should get used to seeing me around." Even if I did choose to not come back here, from the way Lucious reacted when he saw me packing my bag to leave, I'm sure he wasn't going to let me stay away.

"We'll see about that." A low growl vibrates her chest.

I continue with the food in front of me, not replying. I'm not going to go back and forth with her about this. This is my home now, whether she likes it or not.

I spend most of the day laying on the couch in the living room eating popcorn and watching movies, while Lucious deal with pack business.

When he takes a break from his Alpha duties, he comes and watches tv with me for a bit, before going back into the office.

I can see that he's trying not to be so emotionless. At first, He said he didn't have anything to smile about, but now he's making an effort to do it for me and It means a lot to me that he's doing it because he thinks I'm worth it.

I look over and smile a little as Lucious walks into the living room. He lifts my legs up and takes a seat on the couch, resting my legs back down on his lap.

"What are you watching now?" He asks, looking over at the tv.

"The 100," I tell him, putting popcorn into my mouth.

As we sit here watching tv together, he asks me questions about the show to understand what's going on.

As he watches the tv his hands rest down on my legs, slightly tapping his finger against my leg, making it hard for me to focus on the tv.

While he watches the tv, I look over at him every minute or so, trying not to make it so obvious that I'm watching him.

My eyes move over the side of his face, taking in how perfect he is. I guess this made it so easy for me to love him.

I know things aren't exactly perfect for Lucious and me, but wouldn't trade Lucious for anyone else. No matter what has happened between our families, I'm still happy to have Lucious as my mate.

He looks over at the clock, before looking over at me. "You should go get dressed, we'll be leaving to have pack dinner soon." He tells me.

I let out a sigh as I get up and head up to the room to change clothes, not really wanting to go. I hate going to the pack dinner. It's always problems there. I always feel the most unwanted here when I'm at the pack dinner with everyone.

After getting dressed, I leave the house with Lucious, heading to the pack dinner.

I walk next to Lucious, as the strong cold winter winds blow into us. Feeling the coldness seeping into my bones, causing me to slightly shiver, I let my beast come forward, heating up my body, quickly warming me.

Once we get to the large building, I let out a sigh as we walk through the doors.

The talking dies down for a second as Lucious and I walk into the building before people start to lowly talk again. I don't look at anyone, ignoring them all as I take off my coat and scarf, hanging them up.

"Go to the front and get your food," Lucious tells me as he removes his coat.

I glance around at the people watching us, before looking over at Lucious standing next to me. "I don't want to cause problems Lucious." I frown, remembering what happened the first time I tried to go straight to the front with Lucious to get my food.

"Go to the front, get your food, and take your place at the table with me." He says, before walking away towards the tables of food.

I stand here looking at his back as he walks past everyone who's waiting in line, going to the tables that are filled with food. Lucious glances back at me as he grabs a plate and starts to place food onto his plate.

I look at the long line, before looking around the large building at the people.

Expecting the glares, growls, and flashes of teeth that I always get every time I'm here, I prepare myself to flash teeth back, but instead, they only frown and glare, but look away when their eyes meet mines.

I frown as I continue to look around, watching everyone that I make eye contact with looks away, not showing me how much they hate me.

I look over at the long line again for a second, before taking a step, heading to the front to get my food as Lucious told me to do.

As I pass the long line, I Don't look over at those who are waiting in line, but I can feel their eyes on me. I can feel the people here watching me, making me feel uncomfortable.

No one growls at me.

No one tries to stop me as I make my way to the front.

Ignoring the watching eyes, I take my plate and fill it with the food that I want, before going over to Lucious table for the first time, taking a seat in the empty chair next to him.

"Why are they acting strangely?" I frown, looking over at Lucious.

"You did what needed to be done. You took your respect as Luna." He tells me.

I look around the table, watching as they all look away.

Is this the fear Lucious said would give me the respect as Luna of the pack? Do they all fear me now? I frown a little, not wanting anyone to be afraid of me. I'm not some savage killer that they probably think I am now.

"Hey." Maggie gives me a smile, taking a seat across the table from me with Jax and their pup.

"Hey." I smile back over at her. It's nice to see that she's not acting strangely like everyone else.

Once everyone is seated with their food, Lucious takes his cup and standing up from his chair, causing the whole building to go silent.

"To the goddess." He holds up his cup and everyone repeats what he said, then everyone begins to eat.

During the pack dinner, I eat as I talk to Lucious, Maggie, and Jax. I'm normally far across the room, continuously looking over here at Lucious durn the pack dinner.

It feels different being here at Lucious table now. This isn't some random table that I have to eat at and feel unwanted by the others whos eating at the table. This is Lucious table and I know that he wants me here with him. He told me himself to take a seat at his table.

After the pack dinner, I head back to the house with Lucious.

I head upstairs into the room, while Lucious goes to check on his mother.

I remove my coat, scarf, and snow boots, before changing into one of Lucious long comfortable shirts. I walk over and grab the book off the bedside table, climbing on the bed, resting back against the headboard to read a bit.

I look over as Lucious walks into the bedroom, tossing his coat onto the chair where I left mines.

"How was the pack dinner?" He looks over at me sitting on the bed as he removes his shoes.

"I guess it was better than the times before since no one started anything with me. I may not have received any growl or flash of teeth, but they still hold their hatred for me in their eyes whenever they frown over at me." Things may have changed a bit, but being unwanted here by them hasn't. I can see the hate for me in their eyes.

"You're Luna of the pack, so as long as they respect you that's all that matters."  He tells me.

I let out a small sigh. "They only respect me because they fear me. They think I'll kill them now." I tell him as he walks over, taking a seat on the bed next to me.

I Don't want them to fear me. I'm not some savage killer that they need to fear.

"That's just the way things have to be. I'm sure many of them blame me for their mate deaths, just as much as they blame you. Not everyone here respects me because they like me, but because they know I'm their alpha and I won't tolerate their disrespect." He tells me.

"I guess you're right," I say.

I open the book to where the bookmark is at. This is where Lucious left the bookmark when I first started to read the book.

"I made it to where you last stopped. Would you like to read with me?" I ask, looking over at him sitting next to me.

He looks down at the book in my hands for a moment, before giving me a nod. "Sure." He says.

"I want you to read." I smile over at him, holding the book out for him to take.

He gives me a small smirk, before taking the book.

I move over closer to him as he began to read out loud.

I lean over, resting my head down on his shoulder, looking at the pages as he turns them.

I listen to the sound of his smooth voice as he read to me. My eyes glide over the words on the pages, following the sound of his voice. His voice has the perfect tone to it. Not too deep and not too light, sounding like a sweet lullaby to my ears.

Feeling my body relax completely, I close my eyes as I continue to listen to the sound of his voice as he read.
****

The next morning I'm awakened by the sound of a deep growl.

I get out of bed, leaving out the room.

I follow the sound of Lucious's voice, leading me to the room his mother is in.

Lucious and his uncle Jax stand there as the healer check his mother.

Seeing the deep frown on Lucious's face. My heart drops thinking that something bad has happened to his mother. I focus and pick up on the sound of her heartbeat, and let out a sigh knowing she's still alive.

I walk over to him and take his hand in mines, lightly brushing my thumb against the back of his hand trying to calm him.

I look over at his mother on the bed as the healer check her. Over the passing months, she has slowly lost weight, becoming skin and bone. It's like all the life is slowly being drained out of her.

I can't imagine how Lucious must feel, having to see his mother this way.

"She's not going to last much longer like this." The healer says, looking over at Lucious. "But I've been thinking and maybe there's something that can help her. It's this herb that grows far out west in the mountains called Red Thorn. It only blooms for the first two weeks of spring. Seeing that it's winter there's not any out now, but maybe a pack out west have some dried out and put away." She tells Lucious, giving him a bit of hope.

"How will this herb help her?" Lucious ask.

"When mixed correctly with a few other herbs, it will force her wolf to take control, causing her to shift. I'm hoping that this will allow her wolf to feed and stop her from wasting away." The healer says.

"Those mountain packs out west aren't like normal packs. They still live by the old ways. Totally isolated from the outside world, living off the land for everything they need, more intoned and connected with their wild side and they don't take kindly to people like us, who Don't live by the old ways. They aren't just going to simply give you what's theirs." Jax says to Lucious. I can hear the warning in his voice, warning Lucious that he may have a problem with those Mountain packs.

"I'm getting these herbs, even if I have to kill them all," Lucious says, before heading towards the door, leaving the room.

Hearing Lucious says that, causes my eyes to widen a bit. If Lucious attack any of those Mountain packs, word of it will get back to Father and I doubt father will allow Lucious to attack another pack and get away with it like the last time.

Lucious can't just go and attack another pack without good cause, and them having those herbs that he needs for his mother won't justify him attack and kill those people.

I leave out the room, going after him.

"Lucious," I call his name, causing him to stop and look back at me. "You don't have to go there. I can get you the herbs your mother needs." I tell him.

"How will you get these herbs?" He asks.

"My stepfather has many different herbs or I'll get them from the castle." I'm sure Andy may have these herbs in his greenhouse back at the house we grow up in, but if not I'm sure there have to be some at the castle. I saw a room full of large jars filled with dried out herbs on the hospital wing when I went to see Andy.

"I don't want anything from your family." He says with a frown.

"Your mother needs these herbs Lucious. I can get them for her." He needs to put his ego aside and let me get the herbs for his mother.

He let out a low growl. "I Don't want or need anything from your family." He says before turning to walk away.

I reach out grabbing his hand, stopping him. I can see that he wants nothing from my family, but things don't have to be done this way. "You don't have to kill anyone Lucious. Just ask and tell them the reason why you need these herbs. If it doesn't work, just move to another pack and ask." I Don't want Lucious to do something that he'll have to answer to father about.

He looks at me for a moment before turning to walk away again, but I Don't release his hand, forcing him to look back at me.

"Promise me you won't kill anyone Lucious." Things are slowly getting better and I Don't want things to get really bad.

He looks at me for a second not saying anything. "I won't kill anyone." He says, giving me his word.
