Lucious
I wake up in the middle of the night, not feeling Lisa cuddled up against me. I look over seeing her just standing there looking out the bedroom window.
"Lisa," I call out to her, causing her to slightly jump at the sound of my voice. "What are you doing?" I ask, sitting up in the bed.
"Nothing." She says, looking back at me.
I get out of bed, walking over to her. I look out the window to see what she's looking at, but the only thing to see is the falling flakes of snow hitting the ground.
I look over at the time to see that it's 1:25 am. "Why are you stand here in the middle of the night looking out the window?" I ask, looking back over at her with a raised brow.
"I can't sleep." She looks out the window. I watch her eyes slowly following the snowflakes down to the ground, then repeat it again. "How do you feel?" She asks looking over at me, standing next to her.
"What do you mean?" I frown a little, not understanding her question.
"Have you been having this on-edge feeling. Like your inner beast is irritated and restless?" She takes in a breath and slowly releases it as if she's trying to calm her inner beast.
I've been feeling the pull of the bond as it grows stronger. Not wanting to mark her yet, I have to fight the strong urge to mate and mark her. But this irritated and restless feeling she's speaking of, I Don't feel it.
"No, I don't. Do you feel this way?" I frown, wondering if something is wrong with her.
"Yes, it started a few weeks ago." She reaches up, running her fingers through her hair, letting out a sigh.
"Maybe you're not shifting enough." I don't know if she gets affected the same way as werewolves, but when werewolves don't shift enough, it can be unhealthy for them. Their inner wolves can grow restless, causing them to lose control.
She slightly shakes her head. "While you slept. I went out into the forest last night and shifted." I frown, not knowing she left the bed and went out last night. I woke up this morning with her in my arms as if she never moved.
"I use to feel this way sometimes when I had trouble with controlling my inner beast, but my father fixed that problem for me. This feeling is similar to that, but it's not the same. This feeling is different. Maybe it's just me, I'm sure it'll go away." She let out another sigh.
"Are you sure you're okay?" I ask, wanting to be sure that everything is okay with her.
"Yeah, I'm fine. Let go back to bed." She takes my hand, leading me back over to the bed.
I put my arm around her as she lay her head on my bare chest, throwing her arm and leg across me like she always does now. I slowly close my eyes inhaling her sweet scent, fighting the strong urge to have her, to taste the sweetness of her body. To feel her naked body pressed against mines.
I can feel the beast within wanting me to mark her, wanting to be one with her. But now isn't the right time. I'm going to make them pay for what they have done and I Don't need the mark clouding my judgment and feelings.
After having breakfast the next morning, I leave the house with Lisa so she can continue her trails of retribution. There's only a few of them left to claim their rights to retribution. Day after day she has spared their lives, only for them to see her as weak.
Her weakness only makes things hard for me. I have to force myself to stand by and watch the way they disrespect her. I have to watch the way They pick at her when they think I don't see. But I see it all. I see the way they purposely bump into her. I see the way they taunt her with the flash of teeth or with words.
As much as I want to come to her defense, I can't. I have to let her do this herself.
Sometimes it seems that she has hit her breaking point with them and their picking, taunting, and disrespect, but she always manages to calm her inner beast, not doing what needs to be done.
She may give them a flash of teeth or say something back to them, but that's not enough. They have no respect for her. They walk over her whenever they feel like she's in their way. She's no luna here. To them she's nothing.
I look over at her as we walk. She's busy looking down at her feet, watching the way her snow boots sink into the snow with each step.
"How do you feel?" I ask, wondering if she's still feeling the way she was last night.
"I still feel on edge, but I'll be okay." She looks over at me, before looking back down at her feet.
When we get to the building, Lisa makes her way through the glaring crowd, glaring back at them. She removes her coat and gloves, glaring over at the last five who are waiting to claim their rights to retribution.
"Retributions will end in death or until one is unable to continue," I repeat what I have said many times now, to the crowd that has come to watch.
The first female shift, slowly stalking forward, growling and snapping teeth at Lisa.
Lisa's black claws extend, taking her fighting stance, flashing teeth at the female. I watch as Lisa lower her guard, making sure the female see the opening. I've watched Lisa purposely leave herself open, baiting them in and none of them have figured out that it's a trap. At first, I thought Lisa's form was sloppy and needed work, but then I realized she purposely does this and they all continue to fall into the same trap.
I watch the female, knowing she's going to do exactly what the others before her did. It's to the point to where it's almost pathetic to watch.
The female attack, going for the opening. Lisa quickly sidesteps, dodging the attack, using her claws to slice deep into the wolf's right shoulder as the wolf skids pass her.
The female quickly comes at Lisa again.
Lisa uses her speed, dodging, and constantly attacking the same right shoulder, slicing into the wolf. The female growl out in frustration, limping, unable to now put weight on that right shoulder, slowing her down.
Not waiting for the female to attack again, Lisa takes the offense and attack her. She attacks the female right shoulder, again and again, forcing the female to try and protect her wounded shoulder.
Lisa go to attack that shoulder again but drop to her knees at the last second, sliding past the wolf. As she slides past the wolf, she slices through the tendons in the wolf front and back leg on the right side.
The female falls to the ground, unable to stand.
"Are you able to continue," I ask the female, who give her answer with a growl, but don't attempt to get up.
My jaws clench as I look over at Lisa, knowing the weakness she's going to show to this female after this female just tried to kill her.
"Do you take or spare her life?" I watch Lisa glare down at the female.
Lisa glare down at the female for a second longer, before looking over at me. "I spare her life." She says with a frown.
She's weak and will never have their respect as Luna, she'll always be nothing to them.
The female shift back and is helped up from the ground.
Their claims to retribution continue, some fights dragging out longer than the others, but in the end, it's Lisa sparing their lives. Even after she has beaten and spared them, they still flash teeth at her in disrespect, because they know she's too weak to actually make them regret this show of disrespect.
After all claims to retribution have ended, I leave with Lisa, going back to the house.
While Lisa head up the stairs to shower and clean the blood off, I head into the office to look over some of the paperwork that came in yesterday, to make sure everything is in order for the pack.
I set at the desk reading and signing off on things that members of the have requested.
I look over as the office door open and Lisa walks in, sliding her hands into her gloves. "Are you busy?" She asks, looking over at me sitting behind the desk.
"I'm just finishing up," I tell her as I begin to put the papers back into the folder.
"Let's go to the hill." She smiles excitedly. I thought she would've had enough yesterday after going up the hill and sledding back down until I lost count, but I guess not.
I stand up from the chair and grab my coat, leaving out the office with Lisa.
As we walk, she scoops up snow from the ground, forming a snowball in her hand. She frowns looking at the weirdly shaped snowball that she made. Not satisfied with it, she drops it to the ground and scoops up more snow, trying again.
Forming a snowball again, she looks at the snowball this time, smiling at the perfect snowball she has made. She throws the snowball at nothing, only to watch it hit the ground and do it over and over again.
Approaching the hill, I watch as everyone runs around everywhere.
People are climbing up, while others come downhill.
I watch as the older warriors of the pack, playfully fight in their wolf form with the newly shifted juveniles.
For the first week or two of the winter snow days, the hill is where most members of the pack will be.
Some of the young pups are at the hill for their first time. I can still remember my first time when mother and father brought me to the hill. I can remember the first time I went down the hill. I'm sure everyone here can remember their first time. It's an unforgettable feeling.
Lisa let out a giggle as she leans down and scoops up a hand full of snow, squeezing it together in her hands to form a snowball, the way she did many times on the way here. My eyes follow the snowball through the air as she throws it, hitting Nakel.
"Now we're even!" She yells over to him laughing at the glare on his face as he rubs the back of his head. I guess her making and throwing the snowballs on her way over here, was her practicing for this moment.
I listen to the sound of her laughter. It's not something I hear from her often, but I would like to.
Nakel walks over to us, pulling a sled, sporting a black eye that he didn't have yesterday. Lisa's laughter slowly dies down, frowning a little as she looks at Nakel's black eye.
"I'm about to head up the hill, are you heading up?" Nakel ask.
"You can go ahead, I'll be up in a minute," Lisa tells him.
Once Nakel walks away, heading over to the hill, Lisa looks over at me with a frown. "That's the second black eye that Nakel has had since I've been here. He's being bullied by a few of the other boys."
"I know." I look over at Nakel, making his way over to the steps on the side of the hill.
"If you know, then why haven't you done anything about it?" I look back over at her to see that her frown has turned into a glare.
"Me coming to Nakel defense will do him no good. They're boys, boys fight." I tell her.
"It's not a fair fight when they're ganging up on him. They have their wolves while Nakel is practically human at this point against them." She let out a low growl. Its clear Nakel has become like a little brother to her over the passing months and she's becoming protective of him.
"The tables will turn soon. Next month Nakel will be getting his wolf. Nakel is of beta blood. He'll be naturally stronger and then the fight won't be fair for them." The young juveniles fight to establish ranking amongst themselves and since Nakel will be one of the strongest, he's a target for now, but once he gets his wolf, Nakel will establish his ranking amongst them, which is at the top.
"It still isn't fair. They can at least wait until he gets his wolf." She looks away, over at the hill at Nakel.
"He'll be fine. The young males wear their wounds like a badge of honor, to show that they can hold their own in a fight." I tell her as I scan over the ground, looking for the three juveniles that are responsible for Nakel black eye. I spot them in their wolf form, fighting with some of the older male pack warriors. They're good boys. They're just trying to find their place amongst the other males, but they all will come to see that they're not against each other. They're in the same pack and pack is family.
"It still isn't a fair fight." She says again, before walking away.
I watch her head over to the hill, watching the way her hips sway as she walks, causes this need to have her to wash over me. Something as simple as the way she walks is starting to affect me. The pull of the bond is growing stronger and I don't know how much longer I can keep myself from having her.
