                                 Lucious

After the pack dinner, I leave the dining hall with Lisa, heading back to the house. As we walk, I look over at her as she let out a yarn, looking a bit tired from the day.

My thoughts go back to the pack dinner. It's not easy for me to just stand there and watch the way the pack disrespects her, but I have to. I have to let her take her respect as Luna of the pack. She should have just as much respect from the pack as I do. I can't take the respect for her, she has to do it herself. She has to show them all why she must be respected. They don't have to like her and she doesn't have to be their friend, but as Luna, they must respect her.

I watch as she slides her hands into the pockets of her jacket as a cool breeze of the night blow into us, causing the loose strings of her hair to dance across her face.

She looks over at me as she reaches up, brushing the strings of hair away. Our eyes lock for a second, before she looks away, up in the sky when she hears the low crackling sound of thunder.

"Looks like a storm is coming." Her eyes scan over the sky.

I follow her gaze up at the dark night sky, watching the small streaks of lightning streak across the sky from behind the dark rain clouds. "We'll be home soon," I tell her as it starts to lightly rain.

She takes off her jacket, holding it over her head shielding herself from the rain as it starts to pick up a bit. She looks over at me, getting wet from the rain.

"Here, you're tall enough to cover us both." She hands me her jacket.

She moves closer to me, wrapping one of her arms around my waist, pressing the side of her body against mines as I lift the jacket over my head, shielding us both from the rain. I continue to walk with her hugged up against the side of me. This calmness washes over me, smothering this anger that has rooted its self inside of me. This chill makes it's way down my spine from the closeness of our bodies, stirring the beast within. I glance down at her, wondering if I also affect her this way.

I take in a slow breath, trying to calm this strong want for more than just the simple touch of her body pressed up against mines.

Once we get to the house, she keeps herself pressed against me longer than necessary. Once she does release me, I start to instantly miss the feeling of her body being pressed up against mines.

She let out another yarn, taking her wet shoes off at the front door. "Are you coming to bed?" She asks, looking over at me.

I am drained after spending most of the day finishing up with the pack's paperwork with Lisa's help. I guess I could use some sleep. "After I check on my mother," I tell her, hanging her wet jacket up to dry.

Making my way up the stairs, I head into the room mother is in, going over to the bed. Looking down at her, I see that she's asleep. I watch her, hoping she'll open her eyes and say something to me, but she doesn't.

My jaws clench as I watch her. She has to get better. She has to come back to Tilda and me.

I turn the bedside lamp on, to leave some light in the room for her, before leaving the room.

Walking into my room, I see Lisa standing in front of the mirror drying her hair with a towel. She looks at me through the mirror, not turning towards me.

Closing the door behind me, I see that she's now wearing one of my shirts. My eyes move down to her bare legs as she walks over to the bed, pulling the covers back, getting onto the bed.

Feeling this pull and want to be close to her, my thoughts go back to her being hugged up against me, thinking bout this feeling I get when being close to her. I want to feel that feeling again.

I turn the light out, allowing the dim glow of the moon to shine through the curtains. I remove my damp shirt as I walk over to the bed, getting underneath the covers next to her. I place my hands behind my head, resting my head back on the pillow, looking up at the ceiling.

She moves closer to me, resting her head on my shoulder and her hand on my chest. I take in a breath, inhaling her sweet scent as that warmth starts to fill me from the closeness of our bodies.

Hesitantly, I wrap my arm around her. She moves around a bit, getting comfortable in my arm, before relaxing again.

This calmness wash over me from her touch. Calming the beast and raging anger within me that has been depriving me of sleep. I inhale her scent one last time as I close my eyes to rest.

The next morning I'm awakened by the sound of the shower. I sit up in the bed, looking over at the half-opened bathroom door, smelling the flowery scent of the soap or shampoo she's using.

I get out of bed and walk into the closet getting a change of clothes. After getting dressed, I leave the room and head down to the kitchen where I find Tilda having breakfast. She looks over at me as I walk over to the refrigerator, grabbing a bottle of water.

"Are you going to do something about this or are you just going to let them all get away with what they have done because they're your mate family?" She asks.

I frown, looking over at her. "They're going to pay for what they've done." I don't care that they are Lisa's family, I'm going to kill them all.

"How? What are you planning to do?" She frowns.

"I'm working on it." If the fourteenth firstborn alphas are willing to help, then I'll know what steps I'll need to take in killing them.

"I want to help," Talida says.

I shake my head, taking a sip from the water bottle. "I don't need your help. I'm going to take care of this."

"And what about your mate? Will she get away with what she has done?" Her frown deepens.

"She's not getting away with anything. She's apart of this pack now and she's being took through the trails of retribution as the pack law demands." Lisa will fight everyone that claims their rights to retribution. She's answering to what she has done.

"There's no justice in that. She's taking down a bunch of common wolves. I want to fight her Lucious. I should be allowed to fight." Her frown turns into a glare.

Tilda trained with father and I. She's stronger than all the females here. She may do better in a fight against Lisa, but when it's all said and done, Lisa is more than her and will come out on top.

"You know the law, Tilda. The dead warriors mates have the right to retribution and if the warriors didn't have mates the right to retribution goes to a member of their family. Father was killed and mother is still alive, so the right to retribution is still hers to take." I tell her what she clearly already knows.

"You're trying to protect her Lucious!" She glares over at me.

"I'm not trying to protect anyone. She's going through the trails of retribution as any other member of the pack would have." I glare back at her. I'm not protecting Lisa, because if I were everyone who looks at her with ill intent will answer to teeth and claws.

"You are protecting her!" She stands to her feet. I can feel her letting the power she holds leak from her, filling the room, challenging me.

I let out a deep growl, standing to my full height, letting my power pour from me, hitting her. She looks away, baring her neck to me in submission, glaring down at the floor. "Don't forget who's the alpha here little sister," I say reminding her that I'm her big brother and the alpha here.

She glares over at me again, before walking away, leaving the kitchen.

I let out a sigh, taking another sip from the water bottle. I don't like doing that to her, but sometimes Tilda can overstep her boundaries. I let her get away with a lot of disrespect because she's my little sister, but she will not challenge me and think it's okay.

I stand here in the kitchen thinking to myself letting different ideas play out in my head of ways to kill them all. I'll need to meet with the firstborn alpha of our bloodline first, once he gets things situated with his pack before I can figure anything out. If he's willing to help, then I'm sure the other thirteen firstborns will be willing to help.

Wanting to get some fresh air, I leave the kitchen, heading to the front door.

"Where are you headed?" I look over to see Lisa coming down the stairs.

"Just out," I tell her.

"Can I come?" She asks walking over to me.

"Yeah." I open the front door, letting her out, before leaving out behind her.

As we walk, Lisa glare and flash teeth at members of the pack who glare are growl at her. I force myself to not flash teeth at them all for the disrespect they are showing her. "You can end all of this if you just do what needs to be done." I look over at her as she glares at a passing female who growls at her.

"I'm can't just kill someone just because I can Lucious." She says, glaring at another male.

"You killed those warriors durn that fight, so why can't you kill now?" I ask not understanding this. I saw her kill durn that fight.

"That was different. Six of them attacked me at once, leaving me no other choice. I had to kill them to get them off me. But with these people, I have a choice. One on one I can easily take them down without having to kill them. I'm not just going to murder someone when there's another choice." She tells me.

"You're no longer apart of the human's world. You need to let this weakness about killing that the humans have rooted into go." She may have other choices besides killing, but sometimes killing is the right choice to make.

It would be the right choice for her to make whether she wants to or not. She's luna of the pack, she needs to make an example out of one of them who challenges her.

"It's not that simple Lucious. I've lived amongst the humans my whole life where killing is a terrible thing to do. I just can't suddenly forget how I was raised and become a psycho killer. That's like someone telling you to forget your upbringing and go live amongst the humans, where you won't be alpha and you'll have to take orders from others and deal with asshole humans and not kill them as you would here. Would that be a simple thing for you to do?" She asks, looking over at me as we walk.

"It's not about what's simple or not, it's about doing what needs to be done. It wouldn't be a simple thing to do, but if I had to live amongst the humans, take orders from humans and deal with asshole humans without killing them, I would if that's what needs to be done." We all have choices, but it's about making the right choice.

I look over as we approach the temple of the goddess, where members of the pack go to pray and connect with the goddess. Members of the pack stand outside of the temple, while others walk away after lighting their incense for the warriors who died.

Leaving Lisa, I head over to the temple to pay my respects to the warriors.

I take an incense stick and light it. I walk onto the sand that's covering the ground of the temple as a few others walk with me, carrying their incense. "May the smoke guide you to the goddess," I say as all the others say, pushing the incenses into the sand next to all the others.

I look into the air, watching as the smoke from the incenses rise for the warriors.

Walking away from the temple, going back over to Lisa and continue to walk with her, heading into the forest.

"Tell me something about you." She says looking around the forest as we walk.

"What do you want to know?" I watch her brush her fingers against the trees and plants as we walk deeper into the forest. She smiles, looking up at the trees, happily.

"You have books in your room. Do you enjoy reading?" She asks.

"Yes," I answer her question.

"How did you get into reading?" She asks, looking over at me.

"My mother. She uses to always read to Tilda and me." I frown as my thoughts go to my mother, picturing her laying in that bed.

I start to think about how mother would read to Tilda and me. She had a special way of bringing the stories to life. I always felt like I was right in the middle of the stories, watching everything happen. As I got older I started to read myself, putting myself in the middle of the stories like mother once did.

"My mother is the reason I enjoy reading too. She uses to read and tell my brother and me stories also. I guess that's something we have in common." She stops walking, looking over across the forest. "Are those berries?" She asks, walking over to where the wild strawberry grows in this part of the forest.

"Do you eat these?" She kneels down, slightly squeezing the berries between her finger.

"I did when I was younger." I stand behind her, watching as she continues to slightly squeeze the strawberries. Fall has arrived and some of them are beginning to soften, slowly dying.

"Why not now?" She finds her a strawberry that's still ripe, pulling it from the stem.

"Going through the forest eating the different berries was just something my friends and I did growing up as kids, but now we're older and have more important things to do than searching the forest for the berries." She turns towards me, looking down at the berry in her hand, pulling the leaves and stem away.

"There's more berries here?" Hearing there are more berries, her eyes light up with this excitement.

"Yeah, the pack is surrounded by miles and miles of forest. There are many different berries here." I say causing her to smile.

"When spring comes and the berries bloom again, will you show me the spots you picked berries at as a kid?" She takes a bite of the strawberry in her hand, letting out a low moan at the deliciousness of the berry.

I stare at her lips, watching the way her tongue move over her plump lips, licking away the berry juices. I lick my lips, wanting to taste the juice from the berry on her lips. I swallow down the lump that has formed in my throat, unable to look away from her lips as she chews up the berry.

"If you want to feel them, all you have to do is ask." I look into her eyes as she smiles, saying to me what I said to her the day she came to see me in the prison cell.

I slowly reach out, cupping the side of her face with the palm of my hand, letting my thumb lightly glide across her bottom lip.

Her head tilt, leaning into my touch, looking up at me.

My eyes make their way back down to her slightly parted lips. I take a step closer to her, leaning in, pressing my lips against hers.

Pulling away, I lick my lips, tasting the sweetness of the berry juices.

"You didn't answer my question." She smiles up at me, taking another bite of the berry.

I give her a nod. "Yes, when spring arrives I'll show you the spots where I once picked berries at in the forest."
