                                  Lisa

I slowly get out of bed the next morning, stretching my stiff muscles, before walking into the closet to get a change of clothes. I let out a sigh, knowing I'll have to deal with these people and their claims to retribution again today.

Not wanting to stain all my clothes with their blood, I grab a simple pair of black shorts and a training bra and get dressed, before heading downstairs to get this over with for the day.

Once I get down the stairs, I look around for Lucious. I don't see him, but I can feel and smell that he's somewhere close by inside the house.

I start to follow his scent through the house, leading me to this closed door. I lightly knock on the door and wait a few seconds. When I don't get an answer, I slowly open the door, walking into what seems to be an office.

I look over, seeing Lucious sitting behind the desk with his head down. Walking over to the desk, I see that he's sleeping with a pen in his hand as if he fell asleep in the middle of writing something.

"Lucious," I call his name, placing my hand on top of his, feeling those pleasurable tingles the spread across the palm of my hand.

I watch as his eyes slowly open, squinting from the light as he looks up at me. He sits up in the chair, rubbing his eyes. Those dark circles and bags underneath his eyes are more noticeable now. It's clear that he hasn't been sleeping much since we got here. I guess everything that happened has been keeping him up.

"Have you been up all night?" I ask, looking at those dark circles and bags underneath his eyes.

"I'm fine." He says not answering my question.

"You don't look fine, you look exhausted," I tell him.

"I'm fine." He says again, glancing over at the clock checking the time. He looks back over at me standing in front of the desk, his eyes start at my lower body, making their way up until his looking into my eyes. "Do you plan to fight in that?" He asks, glancing down at my body again.

"Yeah, I don't want to ruin my clothes with blood," I tell him.

He gives me a nod as he starts to gather the papers in front of him, placing them into a folder.

We leave the house, heading over to the building where the claims to retribution took place yesterday. As we walk, I frown seeing a few others heading in the direction we're going. "I'm only putting on a show for these people," I say more to myself.

"If you don't want to do this, then do what needs to be done," Lucious says, looking over at me as we walk.

"Aren't these your people Lucious? Why do you insist on me to kill them? Do they not mean anything to you? How can you call yourself their alpha and care so little for their lives?" I glare over at him, not understanding how he so easily disregards the life of his people.

A deep growl vibrates his chest as he steps out in front of me, forcing me to stop. "I've always put my people first, but they have made their choice when they claimed their rights to retribution. They know their lives can be taken and they have accepted that fate if it comes to that. But this weakness you show is doing you no good. You're a Lycan and they know that you're superior to them. The first day Not all of them were willing to risk their lives by taking you on, so they didn't claim their rights to retribution, but yesterday more of them stepped forward claiming their rights to retribution because they see that you're too weak to kill them. Even females who have pups to care for have started to claim their rights to retribution because they see that you're not going to take them away from their pups. More will continue to claim their rights to retribution because It's a win-win situation for them. Maybe they succeed in killing you, but if not they still walk away with their life with nothing to lose." He glares down at me.

"I'm not weak!" I growl the words out, glaring back at him.

"We'll see, actions speak louder than words." He turns walking away.

Once we get to the building, I glare at the group of a few males, but mostly females who're standing there glaring back at me. I scan over the group, seeing lots of new faces that weren't in the crowd yesterday. Lucious is right, more females are claiming their rights to retribution.

"Retributions end in death or until one is unable to fight," Lucious says for everyone to hear.

The first female waste, not time, quickly coming at me with two silver blades in each hand, but just like all the others before her, she's predictable, which allows me to dodge every attack she comes at me with.

As the fight carries on, her breathing picks up as she starts to grow tired and frustrated. When she comes at me again, I grab ahold of her wrist, twisting her arm behind her back, forcing her to drop one of her blades.

Letting her go, I quickly grab the blade off the ground. Before she has a chance to attack with her other blade, I quickly drag the sharp blade just above the heels of her feet, slicing through her Achilles tendon, causing her to let out a scream as she drops to her hands and knees.

Breathing heavily, she let out a deep growl, gripping the handle of her blade. She slowly tries to stand to her feet, glaring at me. When she goes to take a step towards me, she drops back down to her hands and knees, unable to hold any weight on her sliced Achilles' tendon.

"Are you able to continue?" Lucious ask.

The female try's to stand, but once again she's unable to. She screams out in anger and frustration, as she goes to throw the blade at me, I kick her arm, knocking the blade away.

"Do you spare her life." Lucious cold eyes lock with mines, wanting me to prove my words of not being weak.

My jaws clench as I look away from Lucious, glaring over at the crowd who's waiting. I grip the handle of the silver blade, glaring down at the female in front of me on her hands and knees.

Thoughts of ways to end her quickly start to fill my mind, but I'm unable to bring myself to attack and kill a defenseless person. My grip loosens on the blade. "Yes, I spare her life." I frown, looking over at Lucious, seeing the look in his eyes. He thinks I'm weak, but I'm not weak. I'm just not some heartless person. I look away from Lucious, glaring back over at the group, watching as the next female step forward, shifting.

Once Lucious end the claims to Retributions for the day, I head back to the house with Lucious to clean myself up.

After my shower, I head to the office where I find Lucious. I walk around the office looking at the pictures on the walls and the stuff on all the shelves. He continues to do whatever he's doing, glancing up at me every now and again to answer whatever question I ask.

"What's that?" I walk around the desk, standing next to him, looking down at the papers he's busy with.

"Things for the pack. I have to make sure the pack has a steady source of food and everything else the pack and members need." He leans back in the chair, looking up at me.

"Can I help?" I ask, wanting to be useful in some way.

He looks over at the smaller stack of papers on the desk. "I'm finished with these. You can sort the papers out into the file cabinet, put them where they need to go." He grabs the papers, handing them to me.

I take the papers and head over to the file cabinet openings the top file to see everything is labeled alphabetical. I start to sort the papers out, putting them where the supposed to go.

As I put the papers into the file cabinet, I glance over at Lucious seeing him watching me. Our eyes looking for a second before he looks away, going back to the papers in front of him.

Things continue that way, with me catching him watching me. I smile to myself, feeling his eyes on me whenever he thinks I'm not paying attention, but I am. I have the same urge to look over and stare at him, but he seems to beat me to it every time.

Once I finally get all the papers put away, I close the file cabinet, looking over at Lucious. "I want to go out for a walk, do you want to join me." He looks like he can use a break from all of this paperwork.

"You can go. I need to catch up on this paperwork." He tells me.

I wanted him to join me so maybe we could talk and get a better understanding of each other because I can see that he doesn't understand me and the things I choose to do and neither do I completely understand him.

Maybe we can talk some other time when he's not busy.

I give him a nod, before leaving the office.

Leaving the house, I walk through the streets receiving and giving glares back to the people that I pass on my walk. Lucious says that they think that I'm weak, but I'm not weak. Even if I were weak, they should be thankful because it clear that I could've easily end them if I chose to do so.

Seeing the tree line towering over the houses in the distance, I head towards the trees, going into the forest. I take in a deep breath, letting the differences scents of the forest fill my nose.

I smile as I look around the forest. I always found the forest to be peaceful, but I never got to spend as much time in the forest growing up. We didn't have a forest close by and when we did go to the forest we had to be careful. Most forests outside of the city are on private land because that land belongs to a pack. And public forests are open to humans, so we had to be careful to not be spotted if we were shifted. I guess now that I'm apart of a pack, I can spend as much time in the forest as I want without worries.

I look around the forest as I begin to walk, letting the tips of my fingers brush against the bark of the trees. The autumn leaves on the trees are beginning to change colors, taking on a reddish-orange and yellow.

I smile, seeing the squirrels running around the branches of the trees and hearing other small animals running across the forest floor.

I continue to walk deeper into the forest, coming to a dirt path. I look at the dirt path, that's clearly for people constantly taking this same trail over and over, wearing down the grass into nothing.

I start to walk along the dirt path, wanting to see what's the reason for people to constantly take the same trail over and over again.

Continuing to walk, I start to approach three young male juveniles who seem to be bullying another young male. One of the males holds him in a chokehold from behind, while the other two laugh and slap him across his head and face.

I let out a growl, getting the young male's attention. Seeing me, they push the young male to the ground, then shift into their wolves and quickly take off through the forest.

"Are you okay," I ask, walking over to the young male on the ground.

"I'm fine." He frowns, wiping the blood from his lip with the back of his hand.

Taking his word for it, I reach out my hand for him to take, helping him up from the ground. "What was all that about?" I ask.

"Just a couple of dickheads that think they're hot shit now that they have their wolves, but I'll be getting my wolf in a few more months and I'm going to give those dickheads a good beating." He frowns dusting himself off.

"I'm sure you will." I reach out, helping to pick the grass out of his hair. "I'm Lisa," I tell him.

"I know who you are, everyone knows who you are." He looks at me shrugging, not making a big deal out of it. "I'm Nakel." He says.

I give him a small nod, looking ahead at the dirt trail. "So Nakel, what's the reason for this trail?"

"It leads to the lake." He tells me.

Nakel's a few years older, but it seems to be something about him that reminds me of my little brother Adam.

"Since I'm new around here, how bout you show me the lake." I give him a friendly smile that he returns, leading the way up the trail.
