⊱La cœur a ses raisons⊰
The heart has its reasons

The brisk breeze chilled my face and hands as soon as we stepped outside of the museum. The gentle sun rays were feeble against it, barely warming my body covered in goosebumps and a flimsy sleeveless dress.
I wanted to blame something else for the cold but alas, it was none other than my own fault for not checking the weather.
"Claude Monet's works are truly magnificent," Jungkook rejoiced, his excitement still evident in his sparkling eyes and curved lips. "I think out of all the movements, Impressionism might be my thing. So raw... So ephemeral... Just the beauty of a fleeting moment captured in time..."
Fleeting moment...
"Life is ephemeral in a sense," he mused, his eyes flashing myriads of emotions for a split second. "And that's the beauty of life."
His candid expression was unexpected and bitter. Such strong words.
Rubbing my cold arms, I chuckled, "Wow, Shakespeare, all that after only seeing a few paintings?" I nudged him playfully. "You're gonna make all the poets jobless."
He swiftly shrugged off his bomber jacket and put it on my shoulders, wrapping me in his warmth. "I wouldn't be so sure... I'm not that good with words. I prefer to talk through my body language."
He was right in a way... Still, I didn't like how he just discredited himself so easily like that, like he always did whenever I complimented him.
A muffled buzz sounded somewhere in his jeans pockets and he took out his phone from the right one before staring at the screen for a moment and then tucking it back in. His face had fallen drastically when he did that.
Before I could ask if he was okay, his eyes suddenly lit up and he turned to me with a small smile. "Wanna play with water guns?"

Jungkook fell to the ground, clutching his stomach and roaring with laughter. I had never heard him laugh that comically, never rolling on the floor, wheezing like that.
I couldn't decide whether he was happy or dying.
"What- are you- wearing?" He managed to ask through his fits of laughter before falling on his side.
"Well, since it's an unfair battle with you as my enemy, I'm wearing protective gear. Don't judge me," I stated calmly despite being clad in a colorful diving suit, one I had Gluttony make me at last minute, and holding a mask ready for the game.
"I'm going crazy, gosh!" He squealed, cackling and rolling on the floor with his eyes clenched shut and bunny grin on full display.
After minutes of laughing at my over-preparedness, he finally stood up and grabbed his water gun that grew double its size in his muscular arms. I assured myself that I had waterproof clothing and that he only had white shirt, so I was undoubtedly going to win.
Yet, soon I was somehow drenched on the ground with my knees throbbing in pain while he was cheering in victory with only his hair dampened. I underestimated his damned long legs that had him easily evading my shooting and his unrivaled years of experience of playing computer games.
Still, we were laughing and just having fun during the whole time so-
I hissed in pain when I hit my elbow on the ground as he shot me. "Ok ok, I surrender!"
Grinning in sheer happiness, Jungkook walked over to me and squatted before me with his gun over his shoulder. "Even with that diving suit?"
The knee parts were ripped and I pulled the material down to find blood on my skin. I groaned, "What the fuck? Jungkook! Look at this! Why did you even push me to the ground? I'm a freaking girl for goodness sake!"
His smile instantly fell as his eyes widened at them. "I- I'm sorry. Are you bleeding?"
"Heck yes I'd be bleeding after being tackled to the ground by a monstrous bear," I huffed, planting my hands on the ground to lift myself up.
Jungkook gently wrapped his arm around my waist and helped me up. "I didn't tackle you. You fell on your own when I tried grabbing you, remember?"
Pouting, I slapped his hand to let me go but he was unfazed as he effortlessly pulled me on my feet. "Ok come on, I'll piggyback you back to the dorm."
Even though dorm wasn't far from the game center we were at, the thought of being carried by him made me uncomfortable.
Dead set on walking on my own even if it hurt so bad, I huffed, "Forget it. I'm walking by myself and guilt tripping you because what the heck, I'm still salty-"
A horrified squeal left me when Jungkook suddenly lifted me up in bridal style out of nowhere. I was rendered speechless for a second when he grinned innocently at me.
My cheeks started heating up. "Put me down, what the fuck?!"
He shook his head, his damp hair moving along. "Only if you get on my back." I must had gone crazy because that little act made my heart flutter.
"Fine."

"Wow, you really pushed me that hard, huh?"
Now that I was wearing sweatpants rolled up above my knees, I could examine the wounds and the dried blood covering them clearly. I hadn't felt pain like this for longer than I could remember.
It wasn't pleasant at all.
It made me clench my teeth every now and then. Especially when Jungkook dabbed cotton swabs on them.
"Ah! It hurts!"
The man suddenly snickered at my whining. "Once again, I didn't push you, Eunsook. Just bear with this for a while. It'll heal quickly. It's really nothing."
I scoffed. "Easy for you to say... muscle bear."
His suppressed chuckles turned into giggles and he looked up at me with bright eyes. They trailed around my face as he took quick glances at my knees in between to put ointment on them.
"Your hair grew longer," he commented and reached out to touch the ends of my now shoulder length hair. I never noticed how much it grew during the past few months.
I flinched unconsciously as soon as he made contact with the strands. Retracting his hand immediately, he eyed me cautiously. "What's wrong?"
Gulping, I lowered my gaze. "Ah... you... pressed hard on the wound."
Bewildered, Jungkook gasped in alarm and shifted backwards to inspect my knees. Taking some more ointment in his fingers, he gently rubbed it on the wounds again.
"I guess it's time to cut my hair," I whispered, touching my purple locks and combing them with my fingers. The act calmed my heartbeat even a little.
"What?" His doe eyes found mine again. "Why? Are you like those tomboy girls?"
His odd comment prompted an eye roll from me. "No, but you could say I dislike long hair... I'd look ugly with it anyways."
His eyebrows jumped and his lips curled up in a playful grin. "Well, I think it would suit you. You know how I always diss your face?"
Gritting my teeth, I slapped his arm harder than I intended to. "I get it already!"
He brushed back his dried, silky hair with a huge grin. "You could prove me wrong by growing your hair."
Oh...
Years after years, I cut my hair shorter and shorter even though it had stopped growing when I died. I was always bothered with its length, paranoid that it was too long.
Why would I grow it longer now? Why hadn't I realized that it was already reaching my shoulders even?
I eyed him intently. "What if I don't want to?"
He hummed in disappointment, gazing longingly at my locks that dangled loosely over my shoulders. "That's a shame..."
"...I actually would like to see you with long hair..."
