The secret

"What happened stays confidential. You shouldn't tell anyone what happened."

Jungkook meekly nodded and furiously rubbed his eyes while trembling in sobs. He kept assuring himself that he could handle it. He could handle ending his pitiful life and devoting the rest of his days to hell if it meant she would be there.

That was all that mattered.

"You must be regretting this-"

"No," he quickly denied, snapping his head up to God.

"We'll see..."

Suddenly, his chest hollowed out, sinking into void, and the feelings in his veins turned numb. He felt empty. As if someone dug out the very thing, the core thing that made him feel alive. His senses were dimmed and his heart lost. Ebony hair was painted lavender and cold hands burst with a surge of power.

"Welcome to hell," Lucy announced with so much excitement, shooting a smile at the newest member of his collection. "The rules are very simple. You bring in sinners and receive special treatment and authority."

"There are rules you must never break," God added, sighing softly, crestfallen to see one of his children turn into a Sin before his eyes, "such as interfering with humans' lives, using your powers on Virtues, and murdering the innocent."

Jungkook nodded but half of the words didn't reach his ears as he couldn't grasp the reality of what was happening to him. Greed had explained most of the things but it was overwhelming.

"I would have never guessed."

A hazel haired woman strutted into the room with her snowy dress flowing behind her. She wasn't at all fazed at how the events unfolded. Rather, she was very delighted to see the human there.

"Greetings to the new Sin of Lust," Chastity chimed with a soft smile at the purple haired boy. The title sounded so foreign and heavy to him.

"I'm Chastity." Her smile widened.

In awe, his doe eyes scanned her up and down. Gentle features with maternal and affectionate feel to them, she indeed looked like the embodiment of love and loyalty to him. Still, no one could come close to Eunsook.

"See how reckless you were to make that agreement with Lust?" God cut in between their interaction, frowning at the girl while she timidly scratched her neck, looking away. "It's time for you to go now, too."

"Where?" Jungkook wondered out loud. A thought that Chastity was going since she lost the bet struck him, but it felt wrong.

God and Lucy exchanged looks while the latter frowned. There was no telling what they were thinking and Jungkook knew they were powerful enough to decide or do anything.

"It was quite reckless of Chastity to make a bet like that and we can't have the other doing such a thing after this," God spoke first and Lucy nodded, agreeing.

Chastity gave Jungkook a smile before going to God's side as he said, "We're taking our leave," and vanished into thin air with her.

"I'll tell them what happened but if the Sins ask," Lucy began, prompting Jungkook to turn his way, "Lust couldn't make you sin and lost the bet. You committed suicide because of her and came here in her stead as Lust because we needed a new Sin. Got it?"

His eyes widened. "What?"

"Chastity lost the bet in the end because you became a sinner and came here after dying. Did you get all that?"

"No," he exclaimed, completely puzzled by why he was lying like that and why Chastity went away with God. "Why can't I say what really happened?"

In a blink, Lucy stood right beside him, whispering into his ear, "If you don't, yours as well as Eunsook's soul will be in danger. Just do as I say, kid or you'll see real hell."

Shivers shot up Jungkook's spine, rendering him speechless and he could only force himself to nod. Anything for her safety.

"Great!" Lucy chirped excitedly, shifting the eerie atmosphere instantly. "Work well, my boy."

Chastity followed God in silence as he kept complaining about her actions. He was always looking out for her and her sisters and brothers in every way as a fatherly figure she never had. Warmth blossomed in her chest even if she was being scolded.

"I just wanted to save her from her situation... Even if she hated me, I liked her, and I'm sure we would have become best of friends if we met in different circumstances."

"Oh, Jieun," he sighed in response. "Sins and Virtues are enemies."

"But Sins were your children once," she retaliated. "If we can help them, we should-"

"How did Lust act with you before?"

His words made her curb her tongue. Sins weren't Saints and she knew that. They all wanted the same thing more than anything else. Some wanted it even more than their own souls.

Revenge.

"Still, I was correct about her being unable to make the other suffer once she fell in love. But I never thought Jeon Jungkook would sacrifice himself like that," she said, easing the tension, and her lips curled up in a sad smile. "Will I meet a guy like him in my next life and not my old fiancé? It would be nice if my new fiancé wouldn't kill me and run off with his mistress like before..."

God's eyes softened at her confession.

"It's just sad that I can't say goodbye to the others... I wouldn't be able to give more advice to Seoyun... or stop Diligence from nagging the Virtues for not cleaning their rooms..."

Her clear soft eyes brimmed with tears but her smile didn't falter, only growing wider. "I guess I'll meet them somewhere in my next lives."

God knew better and it was heartbreaking to tell her, "That you will, my dear."

She nodded. "And that Jungkook kid?"

"I'll act accordingly."
