The wind was fluttering the cream curtains, and over the small room, the stars filled up the sky, shining brightly, too many to count. The stars reassured the tired me, soothing the many tears, many worries that were deep inside me. They pampered me, telling me to go to sleep without tormenting myself.

Fiddling with my star necklace and listening to them, I stood there beside the windows, deep in thought until warmth engulfed me with two arms. Jungkook placed his chin over my shoulder and snuggled into the crook of my neck, humming quietly.

"Aren't you sleeping?" Groggy, deep voice murmured next to my neck. "Or do you not sleep at all?"

A chuckle left me and I placed my hands over his before leading us back to the bed. "Come on."

Although my tears blurred my vision, I still smiled in front of my love. Even if our happy times were short, I treasured them deep inside my heart like those countless number of stars, forever.

My one cherished star held my hand as he wrapped me in his embrace, filling me with warmth and love as the night passed with me in his arms, tracing his soft features with my eyes and engraving them into memory.

When the morning arrived sooner than I hoped, I wished time would stop just like that. I wanted to freeze in time along with him.

When Jungkook finally stirred and opened his doe eyes to capture me playing with his bangs, twirling them with my finger, a lazy grin stretched on his lips.

"Morning," he giggled, unusually cheerful, and pulled me closer to cuddle.

"It's afternoon, silly," I breathed out with a laugh, brushing his crazy hair. It felt strange and somehow different to be close to him like this after last night.

"So early." He beamed, glowing with joy, and closed his eyes with his nose brushing against mine in an adorable way.

"What do you want to do today?"

He opened his eyes to stare into mine, humming and caressing my cheek so tenderly, my heart squeezed and wrenched. "How about bowling? Or we could go to that pet cafe I've been planning on going. Or or, we could go to the movies-"

There were so many things I wanted to do and his ideas were endless...

It was unfortunate that I had just one day to spend as a human with him.

"We only have a few hours now since you slept past noon," I laughed, booping his nose. "Let's go to that deck resort we saw last month. There was an arcade and a planetarium there. For you and for me."

He grinned, eyes forming pretty crescents. "Okay. But give me ten more minutes."

I groaned when he nuzzled into my neck before breaking into laughter. "It's way past noon, Jeon Jungkook!"

"Okay, five then," he mumbled merrily, circling his arm around my waist, caging me.

Hand in hand, hearts in our eyes, Jungkook and I strolled around the deck, talking, occasionally bickering and laughing as if nothing changed. I missed being like this with him.

"How long have you been like this?"

Smiling in embarrassment, I continued answering his curiosity without hiding anything.

"Centuries."

His face paled as he turned to look at me seriously, a grim expression appearing, and I could only guess what was running through his mind.

"How does it feel?"

"Feels like nothing," I admitted, shrugging. "My only purpose of existence is to tempt humans into sinning. I left the human part of myself way back in the past."

A beat of silence passed but he didn't delve further.

"...Will you always be like this?"

"I'm afraid so... With you, however, I feel human again. So don't worry."

I held his hand, lacing my fingers as we exchanged warm smiles. Only for today, I wouldn't cry though my eyes filled with tears. I wanted to laugh and I wanted to cherish all my happy moments with him, deep inside my heart. Like the countless number of stars, forever.

Darkness had fallen, soaking the entire room in its black ink. Only the soft glow of moonlight provided me with light.

My time was up.

Slipping out of Jungkook's embrace and putting my necklace around his neck, I gazed at his serene face for the last time, wishing to hold onto this memory even after disappearing. Placing a final kiss on his forehead, I held in my tears and whispered my farewell, apologizing and thanking him for the love and life he gave me.

I felt the wind blow through my thin clothes when I teleported to the rooftop. There I saw the stars shining above me to take away my pain.

Deep in my heart, I cried for him. Every tear that fell felt like a wound tearing my heart. The stars whispered not to be afraid to me, and even though I did not have the strength to go on, even though I tried to hold onto this love never meant for me...

I would keep on smiling.

"Why is your hair fully dark now?"

I whirled around to see Greed standing a few feet away from me, brows furrowed in distress and lips pursed in disapproval.

"I don't know," I said nonchalantly, waiting him to say anything else.

"Is this what you're choosing?" He whispered with a shaky voice, eyes narrowing in hurt. Something I rarely saw on the blonde man.

"I will choose this again and again."

"But you'll be gone!" He suddenly shouted, balling his fists, lips trembling. "Forever!"

Before I opened my mouth, I felt someone else's presence and turned to the person. Chastity, clad in white maxi dress as usual, stood there with a somber expression.

"It's time."

I nodded, frowning at her. "I know."

She fiddled with her belt. Her gaze fell to the ground. "Do you hate me?"

"Surprisingly, no. In fact, I'm grateful. I was able to meet him," I admitted and her eyes widened at me. "Please watch over him. You can do that since you're a heavenly virtue, right?"

Breaking out of her shock, she nodded with a reassuring smile. "Of course... And that hairpin looks pretty on you."

I smiled, touching the star hairpin. "Thanks."

Even though my dreams wouldn't come true, I would remember every moment with him.

Like the stars that shine forever...

I would treasure my love.

For him..
