Chapter 11

**

Kira

"Yeah, I know that already." I laugh over the phone as Cathy tells me about her date she had with Davidson last night. He screwed up a big time.

"Like seriously it was a driest date ever!" She exclaimed, again for the umpteenth time. I can't help but feel sorry for her. She had expected Davidson Sean to had taken her to some fancy restaurant make love and have some romantic moments together, but she was wrong. Instead, this guy gave her the opposite of her expectations. He had taken her to some fishing camp were they both had to drag fishes out from a river like two fishermen couple. Cathy didn't know how to catch fish but he had force her to try and she reluctantly agreed only for her to fall into the river as the fish hook had dragged her into the habitat. She was highly annoyed and infuriated as she left the place drenched.

"Maybe you can both fix a second date. A better one this time. He'd do better this time, I believe." I suggest, even upon knowing she wouldn't agree.

"Oh you can't be serious," she laughs, "There's no way on earth I'm going on a second date with that lame idiot. He doesn't deserve me, he's not my type and I am not his either!" She said almost yelling, ending it with a loud breathe.

I walk down the stairs and to the kitchen to get some water and find something to eat for i was starving. "Have you tell him all this?" I asked Cathy as I swing the door of the fridge open, bringing out a bottle water from it.

"Of course not. I'm not even in the mood of talking to him." She stated, emphatically, and I could imagine her rolling her eyes.

"Sure, maybe you should just—" I close the door of the refrigerator and turn to walk back but was shocked seeing a face near mine making me shriek back in fear as I let out a small scream.  "Max what the hell!" I yelled.

"What? You got scared?" He said, with a wicked grin.

"Of course yes." I breathe out before speaking through the phone again, "Sorry. Just my asshole of a cousin." I said, rubbing my temple.

"An asshole?" He takes a step forward to me.

"What? Your cousins are around, now? You mean Max is there!" She squeaked.

"Yeah. . Just kidding." I replied to Max who had his eyes narrowed at me as he place his right hand on the surface of the standing refrigerator stopping me from moving.

"What?" Cathy ask again, confused.

"Yeah. I mean Yeah.. he's around!"

"Seriously!" She squeaks again gaining a large smirk from Max. I could imagine her cheeks turning ruby as she squeals. Another crush story.

"I thought we were just talking about your boyfriend." I said.

"He's not my boyfriend. He's just a friend and we had a one night date and nothing more." She finalized. Of course he's just a friend. I roll my eyes.

"She doesn't have a boyfriend." Max said close to my ears as his hand trails down my arm in a slow movement. Very slow.

"W-what are you doing?" I asked, trying to catch what he is trying to do but was answered with another smirk.

"Huh? What do you mean by what am doing?" The phone speaks again drawing my attention from the face in front of mine.

"Er Nothing! I was just wondering what you're doing now?" I lied, throwing Max a questioning glare with my face flamed up and my heart race a little more than before because of his teasing touch— it was tickling yet too slow and nice but confusing all at the same time making me have a strange feeling in the gut.

She begins, "Oh—"

Max pressed my arm with his rough fingers and I let out a squeak, "Ouch! Stop it." I said almost in a whisper.

I could tell Cathy was confused as ever she her voice sound again, "Stop what?" But I wasn't concentrated on the phone. Instead, Max had my full attention as I watch him distract me. He was definitely making me look like an idiot which I was by just standing here doing nothing but talking crazy with my friend. He leaned over to my neck and whispered again, a little husky this time. "She's talking dummy."

"Kira? Are you listening to me? Are you okay?"

"Nothing. My little cousin's trying to on a gas cooker and I was stopping him." I lied, making Max laugh at me. How annoying. His breath was hitting me the neck with his fingers still trailing themselves on my skin, teasingly. I'm now beginning to feel nauseous with this strange attitude of his. Why was distracting me in this way? And why couldn't I find my voice of stopping him. Instead I just stood there looking into his eyes as he tease me.

"Oh." She said, again, before continuing, "Well I was thinking–"

"Max!" I called out a little too loud as he squeezed my skin again. I watch as his smiles grows every seconds he tease me.

"Max?" The voice from the phone asked confused for the hundredth time today.

"Er... Yeah Max. He's–" I fumbled.

"Is Max there with you?" She asked with a gasp. Finally!

"Er. Yup! Hey Max are you doing?" I pretend to make her think Max's just coming, but I failed to make her think so.

"Has he been there?" Busted!

I try to think of a lie but my head seem blank at the moment. "Yes. He has." I said, sincerely, with a sigh. A loud gasp escape her mouth making Max laugh even more.

"Tell him I was never on the phone." She hangs up before I could even say a word. Go figure.

"I think I like that girl" he tells me, now grabbing my bottle water. He shouldn't change topic. Why was he doing what he was doing few minutes ago?

"Max!" I snapped at him but he just replied back with a simple hum with his eyes shinning towards me. "Why were you doing that?" I questioned.

He shrugs, "I don't know." He pause, "Maybe because I felt like." He said curtly, taking a gulp from the bottle water while I try as much not to stare at how his throat moves as the water swings down his mouth. He is really attractive. I feel myself taking in my own spit.

"But you know I was on a phone call. You got me distracted." I didn't want to feel anything towards him.

"Really, I did?" He pretends, "Well I'm not surprised though, my look is a distraction itself" He throws me a wink before turning to leave the kitchen with his lips holding one of his best boyish smile.

I scoffed with my hand fold across my chest. "As if" I muttered as I look away, not knowing if he heard me or not. But I hate to admit, he was right. Why did Gid have to bless me with such handsome guy as a cousin?

He turned back and drop the now empty bottle water on the counter knowing I've to be the one to dispose it. How annoying. "You do look real cute when you're irritated." He grinned once more before leaving the kitchen, finally. I don't know why but I have the feeling that there's something behind that smile.

Few minutes later after reading Cathy never ending message, I decide to wash the dishes and do some cleaning just to keep myself busy even though the place is clean– only for few hours before the kids gets to mess them up again.

"Kira!" I hear Ricky and Jack calling me.

"What?" I turn to face them. They looked so tired after playing for a whole day. I can't imagine how messy their rooms will be now.

"We are hungry!" Jack spat rather angry, like I'm his chef who refuse to prepare him something.

"So?" I irritate him further.

"So, cook us something!" Hey! How dare he order me around. If I careless I would run to my room and remain with my phone but as a good senior I knew I wouldn't leave them scattering the kitchen as they find what to eat.

"What do you guys what to eat? I ask them with my hands on my hips.

"Pasta!" Ricky said same time with Jack who said a different one, "Mac and cheese!"

"You guys have to choose one."

"I choose Pasta." Ricky says.

"No, Mac and cheese" Jack.

"No pasta!"

"No Mac and cheese!"

"No pasta"

"Ahah! You just said NO PASTA!

"What? You too, you did said No Mac And-"

I cut Ricky shut, "Fine. Enough of the ranting. I'll cook the two. Okay?"

They both look at each other before replying. "We be in our room." They said before turning to leave. Great not even a thank you! Not like I was expecting any anyways. They just don't have manners. I thought with an eye room as I shake my head at the disappearing figures.

Bringing out a clean pan from the cupboard, I switched on the gas but got startled, and I hit the ground. What the hell was that! Coloured papers had gushed out from gas cooker making a puff sound almost reaching my face. I look as the colourful glitters pool themselves round the gas. Who put a glitter in a gas?! Max! Of course, this was why he was in the kitchen. I knew it that there was something behind those smile.

"Look at who's here to join you in kitchen, Kira" Max voice surprised me as I see him holding my Chloe. Standing from the floor with a frown, I dust my both palm together before turning to charge towards Max; Just then, Jack and Ricky appeared back in the kitchen holding two iron bucket in their hands and before I could decipher or get the chance to ask what they were up to, they emptied them just as I walk towards their direction and that's when I realised I was walking on coloured marble balls. With my hands flying on the air, I try to steady myself but the pebbles keep rolling over under my feets and I end up with a loud fall, hitting by butt on the hard tiled ground. I whined in pain, and blew my fallen hair out from my face only to have it fall back again.

My face was as strong as a stone, I can tell.
I watch as the three boys laugh at me gaining more growl from him. Max held his stomach tight from laughing too much while Jack hold Ricky so not to fall. Assholes! Just as I was about to shout at them the FryPan of earlier land on my head and I felt the sharp pain if the contact, it covered half my face with it gaining more laughter from the boys while Max starts taking pics of me on the floor with a fry pan on my head and pebbles all over the ground.

"Maxx. ." I drag his name along my gritting teeth. If only he knew how angry I was he wouldn't be doing that.

He covers his mouth not to laugh more. "Oh, and here's Chloe." He throws my teddy to me and it hits my face before falling beside me. Alright that's it! I pick Chloe from the floor and stand to charge towards them but instead these hateful pebbles slip me of my feet again and this time I land on the floor with my back, creating a loud thud with it. "Ouch!" I cried out.

"Max!!!"
