The stone
(In which the author hallucinated and got an idea from it)
We were sitting on the little patch of grass together, chatting. It's been like this for hours, none of us wanting this moment to end. Sometimes people would stop and stare; but only at me, it's never at her.
"Did you have fun yesterday?" I said.
"Yes it was wonderful! And the look on his face when we got inside the house! It was priceless" She laughed and I soon joined in.
"Yeah, I could even hear he was laughing at it. We should prank him more often! That way w-"
I was interrupted by my phone buzzing in my pocket. It was a message from my mother 'Come home, your grandma has come for a visit and it's not good for you to sit around there alone all the time' She never seemed to understand that I actually wasn't alone here. I have told her that but she would only give me concerned looks and continue.
"I have to go, they're waiting for me." My tone lashed with disappointment as I was looking at the ground. She watched me as I got up and left for the gateways.
"I'll see you later then!" Her cheery voice made me perk up.
I was of course sad that I had to leave but seeing as we'll meet again very soon made happiness take over my voice "See ya!"
I left; but not whiteout a last glance back at her. But she wasn't there anymore. Instead there was a bouquet of roses and dandelion in front of a flat, polished stone. On the stone was a golden text with a name and two dates engraved. 'Until we meet again' The text said.
I don't even need to look at it to know what is written on it, I have read it so many times now. Throughout all these conversations I have had with her I have read it, over and over without ever accepting the meaning behind them. It is like looking through glass. Only the things you want to see are visible through it. Have I turned insane or am I just desperate? Either way I felt the need to let go at some point, I can't keep on pretending forever.
I turn around once again and walk out the gates, this time without looking back. "Until we meet again"
