"Can I see Daryl?" Negan shook his head quickly, and I frowned as I stood up from the couch, walking over to where he was at the dresser. I ran my hands over his back before wrapping my arms around his neck, pressing my lips to the bare skin below his hair. He stiffened as I moved around to face him, kissing over his Adam's apple lightly as he let out a shaky breath. "Why not?" I asked him softly, pulling back to look into his eyes. He met my gaze with an intensity I hadn't expected, "Because he's mine now." I frowned, hating how he said that, but I didn't speak out on it as I simply nodded. "Well, I'm yours now too...so what makes it so bad?" He tilted his head, obviously thinking over my statement, realizing there was some truth in it. "Fine. But I'll be listening." I nodded, not liking the idea of him being with us, but knowing it was better than nothing as I agreed. "Okay. Sounds fair enough."
"Daryl?" I breathed out when I saw him. He had his back to me, working on whatever Dwight had given him to do, but when he heard my voice he straightened up. "Essie?" he turned to face me, and I could see all the emotion flooding his eyes as I ran into his open arms, hugging him tightly as he repeated my name softly. "What are you...what are ya doing here?" he asked once I had pulled away, and I gave him a sad smile. "I missed you," I replied softly, rubbing his cheek as Negan stood behind me. I leaned in, whispering softly into his ear. "We're going to get out of this I promise you." I spoke softly, and he cleared his throat as I stepped back, smiling at him when he nodded quickly.
    I looked over at Negan, who narrowed his eyes curiously when I smirked. He had no idea what he was in for, and it excited me to think about. "It's time to head back to the room." he announced, and I gulped, giving Daryl one final hug before following Negan back down the long maze of hallways. "You've been feeding him...thank you for that." I stated softly, and he seem surprised by my gratitude. "You're welcome."
