The World of ArchaneStory summary: 

Long ago, two races ruled the earth: humans and monsters. Initially, they coexisted in relative harmony, but deep-seated issues like discrimination, paranoia, and power struggles gradually eroded the peace. Humans, fearful of the monsters' unique power to absorb souls and potentially become godlike, grew increasingly hostile. Tensions escalated, leading to the inevitable outbreak of war. The war ravaged the once peaceful land, breaking apart friendships, causing many unfortunate deaths, and transforming the once beautiful landscape into a battlefield. Despite monsters wielding powerful magic, humans, with their larger numbers and beginning technological advancements, eventually emerged victorious. The surviving monsters of the war, along with the royal family, were sealed away underground using a powerful spell crafted by humanity's greatest wizards. 

Unfortunately despite their best efforts, it turned out that not all monsters were captured. Those left behind were faced with relentless persecution by the newly formed [Redacted], an organization dedicated to eradicating the remaining monsters. The Hunters, driven by fear and hatred, subjected the surface monsters to unfair trials and executions. The once diverse and vibrant monster population dwindled, and those who survived lived in constant fear. Realizing the futility of continued conflict and persecution, a group of monsters and sympathetic humans decided to flee. They sought refuge in uncharted lands, far from the reach of human civilization. After a perilous journey across the sea, they discovered a remote archipelago. Here, they established a new home, but their fears of human retaliation persisted. To protect their newfound sanctuary, It was by teamwork that they created a formidable barrier using a mix of human and monster magic, resulting in the formation of the Cursed Waters—a treacherous and unpredictable sea that deterred outsiders.

Over the years, the once-empty caverns, islands, and other sanctuaries of the archipelago transformed into a thriving hidden society. The monsters and humans adapted to their new environment, building the first city and gradually expanding to other parts of the archipelago. The monsters, with their diverse abilities and resilience, thrived in their new home, creating a society that valued both tradition and innovation. The humans, too, evolved with them, maintaining their magical abilities and using this knowledge to contribute to their society. They assisted to built cities, developed infrastructure, and cultivated the land, all while preserving their magical heritage. Over generations, some individuals were born with "gifted" souls, unlocking unique abilities that surpassed the average mage. These abilities emerged during events known as Magic Surges—mysterious phenomena that amplified the magical potential of those affected.

As the population grew, the society expanded, with both humans and monsters exploring and settling in various sections of the archipelago. Each region developed its unique characteristics and magical properties, contributing to the rich tapestry of their hidden world. The blending of human and monster cultures led to a society that valued diversity, cooperation, and mutual respect. To harness and develop their magical abilities, the Academy was established. This prestigious institution became the cornerstone of magical education, where children of mages were taught proper spells and combat training. The Academy ensured the continuity of their magical heritage, producing skilled wizards and sorcerers who contributed to the prosperity and defense of their society.

{Note: This old AU was based on a scenario of there being other undergrounds on the surface or rather an upperground since I find it hard to believe that all the monsters were sealed underground. Plus with all the myths and legends I like to think that in the undertale world some monsters managed to escape from their fate of being sealed underground but that's just a concept. Anyways you get the point this custom upperground kingdom is basically just an uncontacted place who rather be left alone well that is unless someone can make contact with them, and convince them that times have changed compared to centuries ago.}
