Laurance POV

Where is she? Where could (Y/N) be? First Nicole, now (Y/N).... What is happening to Phoenix Drop? I stopped running through the forest when I reached a deep pit. There was a mesh of branches, leaves, and grass that I could only assume could cover the hole. Dante quickly came up behind me, panting. I peered into the empty hole, but noticed some scratches in the rock. I climbed down into the hole and started examining the scratches. (#Laurhole for life) That's weird, they look like-

"Wolf claws," Dante said. I nodded, running my finger through the cuts.

"You don't think it was (Y/N), do you?"

"It could be. She was the one who decided to check the forest, and she never came back. Maybe she fell here."

"Then why is this hole empty?" I asked, gesturing to all the space around us. Dante thought for a minute.

"Maybe she was kidnapped. I thought it was strange that Nicole had disappeared. Now that (Y/N) is gone as well the possibility of a kidnapper is even greater."

"But why would Zane want them?" Dante looked at me. "Oh come on, who else would kidnap them?"

"Maybe someone else. Maybe the Shadow Knights found her and took her back. She did have a history with them, and it was rather unpleasant." I pondered this.

"Yeah, but I would've sensed more Shadow Knights. Full Shadow Knights just have a sort of...... Aura that you can't ignore. Any Shadow creature could've felt it from here to Phoenix Drop. The distance isn't too far." I waved everything away. "Never mind. Let's just focus on finding someone today." Preferably both. I sighed before trying to leave the hole. I say trying because I couldn't. Dante could, but every time I tried to my feet seemed to stick to the ground and I couldn't pull myself up. Dante peered down at me. I tried to leave again and failed. Dante started chuckling. I tried again to no avail. Mother of Irene, I hate holes.

I kept trying to leave the hole until Dante finally stopped laughing long enough to help me out. I tried to calm myself so I wouldn't Turn. I took deep breathes before looking at the sky, gauging how much time we had left.

"Dang it," I said, looking at the sun. "We only have about an hour of good sunlight left. I spent too long in that stupid hole." Dante chuckled before turning to head deeper into the forest.

"Then we better start looking." I glared at the hole before following my comrade. We searched but couldn't find any trace of (Y/N) or Nicole. This is just so frustrating. We eventually had to head back to Phoenix Drop and hear the news that no one else had any luck.

The next day people were still looking. The forest, the caves, the ocean and lake, everywhere. It had seemed we had checked every where, but still hadn't found anyone. I sighed, running a hand through my hair. Dante and I sat in a comfortable silence at the guard tower, wondering what to do. The war was supposed to be tomorrow, and it looked inevitable. I glanced at Dante, who seemed deep in thought on the newly fixed chair. I turned my attention to the window facing the ocean and put my head on the table, hugging it. What are we going to do?
