Your POV

I left Cadenza's house feeling better than I ever had before, which, to be honest, was very easy to do. But I had made two friends, baked a delicious cake, got a new (F/C) dress, and my ears and tail weren't black. They were dark (F/C) and (2F/C), and improvement no matter how small.

I went back to Aphmau's house and set my clothes in my room, minus the new dress I was wearing, and the cake on the table. I went back outside and wandered around until I found the plaza. People were rushing around the stalls. I ended up meeting a really nice green eyed brunette named Donna and her not as nice husband Logan. They had a small wolf pup named Yip who wasn't too trusting until he saw my swishing tail, which seemed lighter still. But once Yip saw my tail he wouldn't stop talking. I eventually excused myself to talk with Aphmau.

"Hey (Y/N)! I have great news. You can stay in Phoenix Drop," she squealed.

"Really? I can?" I asked in disbelief. Am I finally being accepted for who I am? This is too good to be true.

"Yep," the- I mean- my lord chirped. "You are. Do you want to build your own house or-"

"I'll build my own house."

"Okay. There's some space near Kawaii~Chan's house if you want. Oh, before I forget, can you ask Garroth to prepare for the thing tomorrow?"

"The thing?"

"You'll understand soon enough. Don't worry." Aphmau smiled and walked off. When people say not to worry it usually means I should worry.

"Okay then......" I said to myself and headed to the guard tower. I climbed up and saw Garroth staring out at the ocean.

"Hi Garroth," I nervously greeted. He kind of scared me. "I have a message from Aphmau. She says to have the thing ready for tomorrow."

"Okay. I'll tell Aphmau when I see her not to worry."

"Uhhh, I also wanted to say thanks. Thank you for allowing me to stay in Phoenix Drop. It means more than you know." I was playing with me tail and staring at the ground, a nervous habit of mine.

"You're welcome. Although you should thank Aphmau and the other guards. They voted to allow you to stay."

"I will, but you seem to not trust me, and you have good reason. I-" It was difficult to continue. I started to choke up. "I may have gotten my baby sister killed." Tears had formed in my eyes and slowly dripped down my face. I was surprised by warm arms enveloping me in a hug. Thanks Garroth. It means more than you know.

We stood that way for a few seconds before Garroth released me. I finally dried my tears and took a shaky breath.

"T-Thanks Garroth. I-I'm sorry for c-crying in front o-of you," I apologized, still trying to completely calm down. He stared at me through his helmet. He slightly shook his head.

"You're fine." Garroth paused. "You can stay up here to collect yourself for as long as you want. Then you should thank the others." He moved past me and started down the ladder. I watched his helmet disappear from view. I walked over to the table and chair and sat down on the table, because chairs are overrated. I sat at the edge of the table and stared out at the blue expanse of ocean, swinging my legs back and forth gently. I heard the ladder creak and looked over my shoulder to see Laurance. He gasped when he saw me.
