Sacrifice
Song has nothing to do with chapter just saying ~ This chapter is dedicated to SHINee fans and fans of Taemin. He looks so sexy when he performs Danger at the Tokyo Dome. His performance was on point, on fleek, and whatever shit teens my age say.

"Varian and Nikolai said they were going to kill Stark when I told them he was a vampire!" was Castor's defense when I made my way to the cockpit.
"Please tell me someone knows how to operate the plane." Lorena yelled on the P.A.
A Lycan girl, who came up the Alric's elbow, made her way to the front from one of the cabins. Her hair was a black pixie cut, her skin mocha brown. It was a good match for the silver eyes that marked a Lycan.
"I don't know how to operate a plane" the plane jerked with turbulence as Draver and Iris took hold of the controls, trying to remember how they managed to figure out the controls when this situation happened last time. "but, I do know how to teleport. I can teleport everyone out of the plane before it crashes."
"That's a good idea." Alric swallowed, "because these controls aren't being friendly. And Iris looks like she's about to pass out from the stress."
Iris did exactly that and Lorena caught her, pulling her out of the co-pilot seat. Jazz took her place.
I turned to the Lycan girl.
"How many people can you teleport at once?" I was praying that it would be more than fifty people because we had well over a hundred Lycans in the plane.
She grimaced. "The most I've ever done is twenty people."
Another girl, almost as pale as snow, stood up abruptly. "I'll help. I can't teleport or anything, but I have to power to lend my strength to others. Sort of like a power supply."
"Perfect-"
A dark growl, almost a roar, had echoed from farther down the plane. Stark. I hadn't refilled his thirst for blood. I had to get back before he attacked one of the Lycans or even worse got himself killed.
"I'll need everyone to hold hands..." the Lycan girl's voice was heard over the P.A. as I climbed uphill (the plane's nose was steadily dropping) to Stark.
Kyo and Felix were wrestling him down in the business class seats. Kristos was holding his head back against the seat by his jaw so he wouldn't bite into anyone. His eyes were feral, his upper lip curled in a furious snarl that shook me more than Orion with one glance. Stark's left was manned by Felix, his right by Kyo. They held him down with knee on his shoes and an arm on his elbow, their shoulder pinning against his.
"How much blood this time?" I pulled up the sleeve on my other arm but Kristos shook his head.
"From the neck, like I told you." he firmly insisted.
I kneeled down in front of Stark capturing his face in my hands. His eyes were flickering violently between gold, red, and silver. I had a feeling the gold was from Kaleesi's spell on his memories. If my being around him caused his memories to return one by one, then maybe my blood would return all of them?
But then I remembered Kendra's words. A certain phrase could be the switch. But what phrase could that be?
"We'll pull him back if he gets too crazed." Felix assured quietly, his voice always causing me to do a double take with his baby face. But it always balanced itself out when I saw his horrid scar that ran diagonally.
"Is this not the definition of crazed itself?" Kyo murmured wryly as Kristos lowered Stark's mouth to the column of my neck.
His fangs seem longer- perhaps they grew the more hungrier he got.
Unlike the prick on my wrist, this almost felt like the bite of a blood-lusting animal. The sound of my flesh breaking like someone biting into a crisp apple made my stomach turn in itself.
I would kill Orion for turning Stark into a vampire.
I managed to squeeze my eyes through the excruciating pain. Nothing about being bitten by Stark was comfortable. Every time the plane jerked with turbulence, so did Stark's fangs withing my body.
Castor flashed at the front of the business class cabin. "What are you doing? Hold hands, we're rapidly approaching the water."
He had locked hands with one of the girls at the cabin connecting to ours. We were a seat behind, too far for Castor's reach. None of the guys could reach out without losing their grasp on Stark and I had was like a kitten being held by the scruff.
The Lycan girl's voice came on the P.A. "We're teleporting in 5 seconds."
Panic settled in and I motioned for Kristos to pull Stark off- only he wouldn't budge a single inch despite only having his jaws locked down my neck. I started to feel light headed with amount of blood he was drawing.
3...
Castor stretched even further. "Katya! Grab on!"
2...
I slammed my eyes shut and grabbed Stark by the nape of his neck and tore him off me, a painful scream leaving my lips as warm blood glided down my shirt. Now that I could lean forward, I thrust my hand out and just as Castor's fingertips touched mine, we vanished.
1.
Harsh sunlight poured on me and the smell of hot dogs and wet cat filled my nose.
I opened my blurry eyes to see chartreuse grass and cerulean skies. The Lycans were all on the grass, sprawled out and rising from the ground like zombies. A shadow loomed over before clearing up to reveal a familiar face.
"Alpha Donovan?" confusion was my pillow as sleep fell on me like a thick and heavy comforter.
~
I woke up in white; white lights, white sheets, white walls.
To my surprise I could lift my neck and crane it left and right with no ease. It was obvious Iris had healed me.
I stared into the fluorescent white light, my throat parched. It burned every time I swallowed.
When I tilted my head to the side, I was able to make out another girl in the huge room, her dark skin stark against the white sheets.
It was the girl who teleported us.
"She's worn out." My head snapped to the right. Kendra was there.
Her red hair was tied in a low ponytail.
"Why-Why are we in New York?" I croaked, my lips cracked. "We have to save my pack-"
"Calm down. We have one more day." she whispered, handing me a glass of water. I sat up straight despite my sore body's protests. "We didn't know what city your pack was in, so Lorena told Bethany to take us to New York."
Bethany...that was the name of the teleporter.
"Is she okay?" I gulped down the water.
"She started coughing up blood, probably from overloading her affinity at once. It was like when you work out and skip from 50 pound weights to 200 pound weights. She should be good after resting, Iris checked up on everyone."
"What about the girl who lent her pow..." I trailed off after seeing Kendra straighten up and avert her eyes.
"She..she died. Her affinity was one of the deadly ones, like Stark's blood affinity and Alric's death affinity. The power she lent also tied into her life. And she gave all of it to help the teleporter move all of us."
My heart was in my throat and my stomach sank. We'd lost someone before the war had even started.
"Did you make her a grave?" I asked softly.
She nodded. "It's farther into the property, where Lorena says that Donovan had practiced training with you and the others."
A familiar mrrow was heard before the ball of fluff, fur and fat jumped up on my nightstand to my left.
"Lucifer," my smile was small since my lips hurt when they were stretched. He bumped his head against my shoulder in response.
"Where's Stark?"
Kendra winced. "Undergoing a bit of...training."
My brows knit together. "What do you mean?"
"Well we all say what happened to your neck after you passed out. Katya...parts of your flesh were torn off, like a shark bite." Kendra shook her head. "Jazz and Draver have him chained in the basement where the packs ties the newly turned werewolves during their first full moon."
Lucifer padded onto the bed, laying his head on my lap. "Are they torturing him?"
She gave me a pained look that asked for my forgiveness. "It's the only way to tame him. I'm sorry but we had to do this. Donovan wasn't feeling safe with Stark being a hybrid now."
"It's fine. I understand, really."
We were silent for a while, half mourning the death of the Lycan, half appreciating her sacrifice.
"You've changed." Kendra commented, honestly filling her tone. "You're not the same girl that Lorena told you were. She said that you were frail, shy. You went along with what all the Lycans had to say, followed the lead. But now you're the one taking the lead, you're the one giving orders. You listen to what people have to say and put their opinions into your decisions. When I saw you at the meeting in Sicily, discussing the plan with the Reapers, I could hardly believe that you were the same girl she had told me about."
I closed my eyes, leaning farther back into the pillows. "I wish I could've stayed frail and shy for a little longer. Over the course of two weeks I've been turned into someone I can't even recognize. It scares me. But then again, I feel right. Like this is who I'm supposed to be. I just didn't expect it to happen so quickly... and to have to sacrifice so many things to become who I am now."
"This must have been what Erebus saw in you. Why he wants to have his way with you. The Moon Goddess possessed Iris again, she spilled on her secret meetinsg with Erebus and all the details on what she thinks he's planning." Kendra crossed her legs and leaned a bit back in her swivel chair when Lucifer brushed his tail along her bare knee. "This war needs a Katya who takes control, no one who sits in the backseat."
I laughed wryly. "And what does that make you guys?"
She tilted her head in thought. "We're the wheels. Stark is your engine. You're the driver."
"Role playing? Let me join." Kristos popped his head in from the window next to my bed.
"Goddess, no." Kendra snorted. "Now get the hell out, you're supposed to watching over Stark."
"Can I see him?" I perked up, wincing when I swung my legs out from under the bed. My chest constricted. "What is this?"
"Oh. That's a cat. I think." Kendra pointed to what looked like two slices of pizza attached to a whole pizza. "Maybe it was supposed to be a spotted?"
Colored markers were all over my calves and thighs, spotting a few inches before my shorts.
Kristosa grinned. "The pups of the pack did it. They wrote stuff like 'get better soon' and 'you're pretty' all over your legs even though Donovan tried to explain that you didn't have a cast so there wasn't any point. Iris said it was okay for the kids to do it. Something about it cheering you... why are you crying? That's not part of the plan."
Laughter bubbled past my tears. "I'm not, it's just that- this makes me happy. Reminds me of something the pups of my pack would do."
